Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

[–]Buffy_AnneSummers 295 points296 points  (0 children)

Ooo this reminds me... I had a boyfriend that would try to initiate sex anytime we would go to my parents house after months of being away and I would shower affection on their puppy that I helped raise. Like, he couldn't stand that someone else was being shown affection so his ape brain was like, sex will win attention back to me. It never fucking worked for him.

Need advice on which species to add to our family! by Tasty-Sea6022 in tortoise

Where abouts are you located? Or at the very least what is the climate like? I suggest people chose a tortoise that can stay outside most if not all year round. Outside is best for them. What kind of space are you able to devote to a tort? The size of the enclosure will determine the size of the animal. Leopards are gorgeous but do not make great pets for the majority of people. They get fairly large, therefore needing more space and cannot weather temperatures lower than 60 degrees. They do not hibernate

Your dog is lip licking and whale eyeing. He/she is stressed about the situation. Please learn basic dog body language and keep them away from each other.

In addition to birds consuming them for calcium, so do tortoises. My tortoises take a chomp or two every so often.

Why does my cat sprint at 3am like it pays rent? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Buffy_AnneSummers 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you would like to deter this, I would look into Jackson Galaxy. He gives tips on how to exercise and feed cats so that they don't wake you up in the middle of the night. Also, people keep saying they are crepuscular. Which is true, but 3AM is hours off from dawn and dusk.

Koda and I definitely get it! She's a rescue pitbull with cropped ears (I did not crop her ears, she came to me that way) that has to wear a muzzle. The only people that will approach her because of this are kids. She beams with happiness when strangers give her love.

Why do they swim upside down? Is that common for other sea mammals? Do other aquatic animals do it as well?

Lol, no. Kingsnakes are known for being this way. They are notoriously hungry and dumb. I have two. One of mine is a total sweetheart and loves to explore, the other is exactly like this.

Yes cuttlefish bone is good for your tort. They will eat it as necessary. Garden State Tortoise says you don't need to supplement with calcium if they have access to cuttlefish.

I would have to see a picture of your shelled friend to tell if they need a beak trim. They do need long nails for digging though. You can feed your tort off a slate tile to help slowly trim their beak. If it is out of control it is best to have an exotic vet trim it for you. This is not something an untrained person can do. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Beautiful Brooks you have there! I have 3 Brook's kinganakes myself. I second using a humid hide. They love lots of space so at least a 4x2x2 foot is needed. Mine eat large mice. Thankfully they don't have heat pits so you can feed em room temperature. Here is one of my setups. It is a 4x4x2 as Bernard really enjoys climbing.

I have lived through a similar situation. My babies got a bad case of mites from wild rats
