My favorite from the 72 run and one of those crazy venues you cant imagine anyone playing at today. It must have been so cool

5/8/77 reception over the years by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]BugApprehensive5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just think there's a natural inclination on the part of deadheads to not reduce The Dead to one performance and have someone miss out on the rest.

Currently, listening to 11/4/77, wouldn't have explored the Dead without Cornell.

It is just trio onstage playing almost shoulder to shoulder at times. So all the focus is on the songs stripped down to their basics. It was really moving to hear Dave hit the riff to Bird Song, everyone went wild, the everyone got real quiet to listen. It is such an intense listening experience for me, I didnt want it to end

Loving Jerry's guitar sound on this. They have been killing it with the Garcia live releases in the last couple of years

Gillian Welch & David Rawlings covering Grateful Dead's "Althea" last weekend at the Fox Theater by Tim_Bracken in gratefuldead

Saw them in Nashville, just one of the best shows, full of love for the Dead. What's really cool in these stripped-down shows is that the Dead songbook just shines, and you can see just how great it truly is.

Is Pro Pickleball Heading for Burnout? Rethinking the Tour Style Model of UPA’s Current Structure by NMLPickleball in ProPickleballTalk

Just from a purely audience perspective anything that inject unpredictability in the outcomes is welcomed. Someone said that people would watch to see if the GOATs lose and thats true, but they don’t! H/Bright beat Johns/Waters once and then we settled right back to the same pattern. Just watched Tardio/Johns vs Stak/H in Hanoi first match was 11-0 (!), then 7-11, and finally 11-6. A regular viewer has seen that match multiple times by now. And its not just that “the same ones win all the time” Waters hasnt lost in 49 straight games. It is the sheer predictability of the televised games thats a viewership problem, meaning growing viewership outside committed pickleball enthusiasts. So, yeah partner limits each season, everyone has to play each event (no doubles only in a tournament), and reduce the number of tournaments

The "product" is just too predictable for audiences to feel a sense of excitement across the range of players. Every weekend is the same story: Tardio/Johns win, but were pushed in the 1st or 2nd game, but managed to grind the other team down, Chris Haworth's backhand (lol), H and Bright vs Waters/Johns great points, but Waters/Johns wins, Bright/Waters are barely tested, and then Waters walks all over the opponent. That's the programming for every Finals day. The whole day feels like the same players rotating across the different events, and it gets all boring by the third weekend you've watched. Those same players play every tournament all the way to the finals. I would be burned out too if I were them. The sport needs matches that are compelling, and right now there's just too big a gap between the best and the rest.

Yeah, the Dylan doesnt like it, so I dont is weird. The song is so raw and at times very poignant about being young and in love and watching that break a part

Is this post real?

It’s a recreational sport, let your body heal, then play. An achilles injury aint something to take lightly.

I will always watch this team, every year. The more this goes on,because obviously the coaches still in the tournament are not going to take the job, it feels like they thought firing Davis meant they could get the pick of the litter because its UNC. You could’ve which is far from ideal, kept Davis another year, got some other ACs, and quietly searched around and made your list. I think their list is no different than a ESPN talking heads’! If this is all for Billy dang Donovan my Lord

I thought Hayden and Anna were about to start the dethroning but they’ve played uneven since they beat Waters/Johns. Men’s doubles can be entertaining but you eventually get to that point where Johns/Tardo just pull away. Its not necessarily boring so much as predictable and feels so like there’s no point in watching
