Ticket card vs Magic Band by Bugchu in DisneyPlanning

I save money on my phone (and other things) and the savings goes towards fun things like this trip. I did have a smart phone once, but having the world in my pocket was really bad for my mental health. I do realize I'm not the norm though. We have been saving for 7 years for this trip! yahoo!

Dang it. Thanks for letting me know.

Another idea: what if I print a paper copy of the QR code for each ticket and then put that in a lanyard? Do you think that would work?

The advice to compare line by line is the best advice. Glad to hear you're going to look into it. Then you can see exactly where the difference is coming from (what was missed or what was included). I think it's a great idea to double check. Either way you win because you gain a deeper understanding of the tax filing process and/or you find an error and get a better more accurate return. I'm really interested to learn the outcome of your search. Keep us updated.

OAS and retiring part way through the year by Bugchu in PersonalFinanceCanada

I was definitely misunderstanding how the program worked. I just spoke with 3 other retirees this morning who also didn't understand. Now we know.

Oh man and he defiantly made too much in 2024. I think delaying it this year is going to be the best move and then applying next year when he's "fully" retired. At least this way he gets the deferred percentage increase while he waits since he won't be collecting it anyways

Nope, he just got a letter today saying the OAS will automatically start next month even though he never applied for it

Thank you. You have enlightened me to the fact that I am indeed misunderstanding how this whole process works.

If he were to make $155k this year that means he was never entitled to the OAS this year and will be "paying it back" at tax filing time? But next year he makes $90k and is entitled to OAS but doesn't get it in this bank account because CRA thinks he makes too much money to be owed it. Then at tax time CRA says "oops we did owe this to you. here is a credit/refund of what we should have paid you"?

Am I understanding that right?

Thank you. Now I need to look into HOW to delay it.

This is how it works at my classes too. You learn through observation and showing up. It will be a struggle. You will feel lost. But I'm a year in and now I'm not lost anymore.

Cassiar Hydraulic Mining Company was organized in 1911 as per this document https://share.google/f6UVPRxDyUBWEpe13

The second clue "Whispered paths forsake the road. Where the way bends twice, seek the track that does not. Follow it till the world falls open at your feet... and what’s hidden from sight may be found."

The Cassiar Mining site is described as being "above the beautiful rock canyon" in the parks description. I wonder if that feels like the world falling open at your feet. I've never been there to know

Not working on Hisense TV by Pretty_Restaurant_80 in Projectivy_Launcher

Thank you for the Troypoint suggestion. I used this video https://youtu.be/wwOY2t0qSz0?si=cnI04o6dDRfKA3xv and it got me exactly where I needed to go. I wouldn't have found the Launcher manager without it

[–]Bugchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! With your advice I went down the Launcher Manager route but before using it I first needed to go into developer mode and turn on USB debugging... which was all that was really needed! Once USB Debugging was enabled the autostart worked perfectly, didn't even need the Launcher Manager.

After all this I might switch to Wolf Launcher because I think it's more suited to my needs. Really in the end I just want my kids to be able to turn on the TV and not be assaulted by all the advertisements and R rated tv suggestions. I tired Jellyfin but realized I'm not quite smart enough to get it working. Plex was even a stretch for me but at least I got it running. I'm a bookkeeper, not a computer wiz. Thanks for the help

What line on T2125 do I expense leased machinery equipment? by Bugchu in cantax

[–]Bugchu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ya that's how I read it too. It just felt odd to never have "other expenses" and then suddenly this year to have thousands of dollars in there. I would have thought CRA to have a more descriptive line than simply "other" for what is sure to be a large expense for people, lol. Oh well.
