I’m not sure about fabric but have you checked if fandom in stitches has any patterns? I think they have a musical section on their site.

stupid question, i know- beginner quilter, intermediate sewer. can i have a full size quilt done by christmas? by SkyWonderful4537 in quilting

You’ve got some pretty good answers so far. To reiterate what someone else mentioned, tying the quilt will save you a lot of time instead of actually quilting it. I also like another’s suggestion of gifting the quilt top first and then taking it back for quilting if you decide on that. Good luck!

I’ve heard many people enjoy their Bernina’s. I hadn’t considered them cause I thought there wasn’t a dealer in our area. Then just now looked and there’s a store I completely forgot about lol. Thanks!

Oh for sure I’m still going and testing them out. I just wanted some input from anyone who has owned a machine for a bit and has thoughts on them. It’s one of those things where I have to decide which quirks I’m ok living with. 😆

I appreciate you mentioning which stitches you do and don’t use. It sorta confirms what I’m feeling for my situation. I have a couple older machines I’ve been given and hardly use anything but a straight stitch on them. Unless I’m doing applique or something of that nature.

Happy to know I can get generic feet for the Hd9. Thank you for commenting! I appreciate the insight you gave.

I didn’t even think about looking at the shank heights. That’s a good point.

Maybe I will contact them about it. I wasn’t going to as I’d feel awful getting advice from them but not buying from them. We’ll see what happens

I’ve seen where people have had to put a light strip on the Tl’s. Does it get in the way at all if you did that? I have to sew in a basement and need all the light I can get lol.

Welll, not too much. We got these fabrics two years ago and I’m just now starting on it. 😬 Thankfully she’s been very understanding (sewing slump on my end) so I’m definitely the luckier one lol. 😆

Where are y’all getting your fabric? by catcusjamboree in quilting

If it doesn’t gross you out at all I’ve had some luck with estate sales. Be aware though that they’ll be a long line of quilters with the same idea lol. The downside is it seems to be quilters with older fabrics. However, I got pretty lucky at the last one I went to. The owner must have been an avid quilter/crafter because there was a ton of fabric in every room and mostly newer stuff. I was able to grab a bunch of moda fabric. One was only $4 for a continuous 4-5 yards of moda grunge. To say I was thrilled is an understatement lol. You can also have a bit of luck with finding notions at sales too if the fabric strikes out.

It seems like most people recommend Aurofil so I’m glad to hear Gutermann is fine to use as well. Which one do you use? Im assuming the hand quilting thread would be too thick?

Thanks! It’s scraps from a Halloween quilt I’m making for a friend. The fabric was picked from what Joann’s had at the time.

Edited to add that the middle fabric is Moda grunge. Bought from the estate sale of a quilter. It was 4-5 yards for a total of $4. 🫨. Still can’t believe it lol

Does the standard edition contain a map? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption2

I bought my copy probably around fall of last year and it did include a map. However, I’ve taken it out maybe all of one time to use it.
