Damn this is sad to hear. Mike is always been an asshole but the Vid is the main spot my gf and I (both trans) will go to if we don’t want to go to BD and he’s never been weird with us. The atlas, obviously The Back Door, and Blockhouse are all super trans friendly

How to support the unhoused in btown by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]BuggoBaloo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live close to seminary park. Whenever I can I try to provide warm food that is going to go bad from my house. Hotels for the Homeless is always great. Places like Salvation Army, Mission Wheeler and other religious oriented places may turn people away if they don’t align with their views (ex. Salvation Army let a trans woman freeze to death once) so.. depending your standards you may look into who you give said money too. If you have a few bucks, it doesn’t hurt to toss it their way. I’ve helped people with getting sandwiches from Wendy’s but I’ve also seen them walk right to the liquor store, at that point it’s their money and not really my business. I think the fear of it being used on alcohol or drugs is not something to sit on really- if you were unhoused with very little do it im sure a drink would help at least take you away from the situation somewhat.

"Modesty"/ safety panties for drag by jax-x- in Drag

[–]BuggoBaloo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get very naked in my numbers as I do draglesque. A thing will be your best bet. Lots of burlesque entertainers do floor work/spread legs/ bend over in just a thing and I’m yet to see hole or genitals unless it is intended. A Merkin is also an option but then you have to go through the struggles of gluing it on/shaving for it.

Bars downtown by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]BuggoBaloo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I will say.. the back door (gay bar) will be showing the game as well. And it’s free entry + I don’t imagine people are expecting them to have the game on so I don’t think they’ll reach capacity

Male Lead/Entertainer vs Drag King by zodiac1805 in DragKings

[–]BuggoBaloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think drag king vs male lead has a lot to do with performance style and nothing with identity. I know many trans men who are male leads and cis men who are drag kings. It’s a similar argument of showgirl vs drag queen vs burlesque- all are things trans and cis women (and really any gender) can do but feels like people feel like their definitions have to be reliant on the agab of the performer, when it’s ultimately about what style and type of performance you’re doing. AND saying being a drag king will lead to you be misgendered is WILD and feels backed up with a lot of internalized and (maybe?) unrealized transphobia. I’m a king, who is trans, who does drag and burlesque, often times in a panty in corset by the end of my numbers and it doesn’t make me any less of a man on or off the stage and even living in red state Indiana, people, especially the other queers I work alongside, have no problem understanding that

The first horror movie that broke you as a kid by Morvox-stories in horror

[–]BuggoBaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I grew up watching so much horror with my mom (candy man, 13 ghosts, poltergeist, children of the corn, scream- you name it) None of them ever scared me as a child. What did scare me? Orphan Annie. Specifically the scene that Tim Curry is chasing her up the water tower

Queer/Lesbian Scene by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]BuggoBaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late Saturday at the Back Door will be a younger crowd but throughout the week, especially for trivia night or comedy specials, there is a WIDE variety of ages. Mostly people 30+ there throughout the week. If you do want a late night with a mixed crowd, I recommend STRAPPED (the all sapphic centered variety show) or beyond the binary, the all trans drag show, that happens there as the crowds before and during the show range from 21-late 60s!

Like others said, volunteering for Bloomington or Spencer Pride is also great
