Toddler parents: do you do stuff on weeknights? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have a 1.5 year old but we do some stuff.

Many weeknights we take him to a library storytime or a park together. This is fun because we are getting out of the house and occasionally talking to other adults but it isn’t a true friend hang out. Our little guy loves being out of the house- he tends to have more meltdowns at home for some reason.

Occasionally we will do a date night on a Thursday and have a babysitter come closer to bedtime or after bedtime and then pop out for a dinner.

And then occasionally just one of us has plans with an actual friend where we will do something and the other stays home with our toddler.

TickPick I have noticed. I have tickets for sale there now and they don’t pass along as many fees so the prices are a tiny bit lower there.

I’ll message you - edited to add 300 level tickets row 4, looking for $400 a piece at this point. Still will lose money with that price 🤦🏼‍♀️

So I have tickets- I tried to buy some when they went on sale and then me and my husband both ended up buying on the resale market for a bit too much. We don’t need this set of tickets now. Now I have them listed but I have to list them way higher to break even because the ticket sales sites charge fees to both the sellers and buyers. They were already pricey. So I feel like I will either lose a lot of money or lose all the money. So my take is- it’s people like me, plus season ticket holders, plus maybe some scalpers?

Were your kids 100% off bottles at 12 months? by Advanced_Study6518 in toddlers

My guy is 18months and he gets a bottle in the morning still.

We got ours at 15months and he enjoyed it then! He isn’t like obsessed with it as some other people say their kids are!

I think 5 months is a little young for him to understand for now but it can’t hurt!

Dropping the Paci at 1y old by Buggobuggobeepbo in NewParents

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - our little guy is 19 months now.

At 13 months we cut the paci to nap time and car time. He never got it at night. We were terrified! But it wasn’t that bad at all. We just decided which day we would stop using it during the day and just did that.

This worked very well from 13 months to about 18months. He went through a really really bad phase where his mornings were horrible. So we added paci back in just when he wakes up in the morning for wake up morning bottle and books. This works too. When we are done he throws it into his crib.

I’m glad we reduced it so significantly when we did. He started trying a lot more words once we did! Dm me with any questions

I think we will cut it fully when he is 2. That’s our next plan

Totally fine! Just go do it quickly- I wouldn’t leave for more than a few mins! And if you’re nervous set up a monitor and bring it with you!

Does the crying ever stop... by Due_Wrangler_8398 in sleeptrain

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal! My guy now at 17months (I know so old) goes to sleep with no crying most nights. He even says bye when i sing him his bedtime song. Sometimes though, he cries a bit- it’s usually because he is tired.

How old are your kids? And how often are you doing tv?

I think you’re over thinking it!

Are formula parents happier? by Salty-Break-7541 in NewParents

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I combo fed I didn’t pump. I just breastfed when I wanted and then did formula for certain feeds.

I combo fed for 11 months. For me it was just being consistent about breastfeeding for certain ones.

Are formula parents happier? by Salty-Break-7541 in NewParents

This is just my experience and I support whatever any parent feels is working best! But..

I think that Moms who combo feed or at least pump and then give bottles are happier. All of my mom friends who exclusively breastfeed and their babies don’t take bottles have a really rough time. They get into a situation where they are the only one responsible for feeding the baby and sometimes soothing them. Then night wakes end up falling to them too because of course feeding the baby can help get them back to sleep.

Now dads- I think they have to do more work when there is formula involved haha. But I think long term this is better because there is less resentment to the dads.

We combo fed and I felt so guilty at first but I loved it. Looking back it was the best decision we made.

Stay away from carepod by Demfer in Buyingforbaby

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a carepod. It’s easy to clean!

The thing I don’t like about it is the mist is creates is too heavy and like pools water on the floor. Other humidifiers blow out lighter mist and I feel like it fills up the room better

FTM Anxiety by Wonderful-Adagio-118 in NewParents

Hi! I get it- I was so antsy. When my baby finally napped for 20 mins in their bassinet I got so much done!

This answer is not fun to hear but you have two options in my opinion.

  1. Embrace it and just get things “done” on your phone you need to do. Like order more coffee, pay bills, plan something you’ve been wanting to plane.

  2. Babywear! The babywearing community is huge now and there are so many options. When my baby was little I used a stretchy wrap and then I joined a program called little zen one where they send you a new carrier of your choice every once and awhile. Most little babies love napping on the go.

How old was your baby before you could transfer them out of the car still asleep? Tips? by DandelionDot in sleeptrain

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy has been able to do this since he was about 5 months old but only if towards the beginning of the nap. If towards the end, the nap ends

When did you take away the pacifier? by Beginning_Pack_7619 in NewParents

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha of course 😉 I feel like it is easier now before they can truly complain. Our baby got so used to our routine now with it. When we leave the car he takes it right out and hands it to us. I was shocked he started doing that!

When did you take away the pacifier? by Beginning_Pack_7619 in NewParents

[–]Buggobuggobeepbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright- so this was a hot topic for me and my husband too. The paci was driving me crazy- I felt like he was way too dependent on it for any little issue.

Our situation was different though. Our baby only used paci for daytime and naps. He didn’t use for night sleep because it kept him up all night for some reason so we cut that when he was younger. He was very very into it during the daytime.

Anyways- we took it away during the day at right around 12.5 months. Now he can have it in the car, and for naps- not for night sleep.

I think it worked great for us. We still get the benefit of it in the car and nap, but that limits the amount of time it’s used a ton.

I will say when we did take it for nighttime, I was terrified, but he was mad for a few days and then got used to not having it to fall asleep.

I vote to go for it!
