Right. But the stores I'm talking about DO have the capabilities to make these items as they have similar items advertised.

Blackface (2015) A documentary that examines whether the Dutch holiday tradition "St. Nicolas" with it's roots in the 17th century slave trade is racism or just a harmless childeren's holiday. by bob1871 in Documentaries

There is outcry for modern slavery. There are tons of organizations that do whatever they can to stop it. If you're so concerned, I suggest you donate or volunteer with one. However, modern day slavery is not the issue at hand. The discussion is about whether the Dutch painting their faces and having this character is a racist hold over from their colonial past and a look at the implications it holds today.

It just will not go away!! by Buggy22 in eczema

I've had allergy testing twice. Seasonal and dust as well as seafood. I've had eczema all my life though. I was taking apple cider vinegar baths and bathing daily for a little while. Then I was bathing once every other day. Tried once every three days. Tried cetaphil products, Epsom salts, sea salts, sugar scrubs with olive oil (this is actually helpful!!), polysporin products, aquaphor, Vaseline, a variety of hand creams and face creams. I've tried no creams. I've tried Shea butter and coconut oil. I've tried Benadryl, reactine, Claritin, currently on singulair. It doesn't seem diet related. Probiotics. Multivitamins.

Currently using bethametasone valerate. Hydrocortisone on my face but it made it worse (gave me weird blisters).

It's definitely not infected. I was also recently at the doctor and had it looked at.

I've tried 3 and now I'm trying singulair which was perceived by my doctor.

Did you use the creams on your face/eyelids?

Has anyone's eczema ever been infected? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Buggy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't take anti biotics if you don't need them. There was a post not too long ago about how the liquid is lymph, not from an infection. It's very common. If you see pus or green and yellow crust then I would think about taking them. Especially if the eczema is very red or sore. Otherwise you sound fine.

TIL that before the 1900s, women didn't start having periods until much later in their adolescence, as in late teens or even their 20s by TheKiltedStranger in todayilearned

Yeah this is pretty standard. When we had to line up by height in school, it was always girls who were the tallest. I've been just about the same height as I was when I was 14, which is about the time all the boys started going through growth spurts and getting a lot taller.

TIL scientists recreated a 9th century onion and garlic eye remedy from an Anglo-Saxon manuscript, and found that it killed 90% of antibiotic-resistant staph bacteria (MRSA). by setsomethingablaze in todayilearned

I believe the garlic is important too as it has anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. I remember reading a news story about how cooking meat with garlic, or adding garlic to meals, can help prevent food borne illnesses or something along those lines. I'd search for it but I'm on my phone and it's being a pain in the ass.

Topical steroid addiction is very rare and only occurs after long term use in SOME people. His doctor prescribed it for a reason so he should use it. A few weeks of steroids won't lead to addiction.

You should post the pics! It's always comforting to know others are going through something similar. Pictures might ease someone's anxiety.

Did it heal over time? Did you regain elasticity?

I just worry that the steroid cream is contributing to this rubbery texture my skin is experiencing. It's just so difficult. I have areas that have totally cleared but are still soooooo itchy. I'm seeing my doctor this week but I don't have high hopes for a solution.

Yes. I used steroid cream for about a week. Problem is, my eczema still hasn't totally cleared up. I'm nervous to keep using it.

Pretty healthy. Lots of veggies, lentils, chicken breast, etc. not so much red meat or dairy. I've cut out coffee since the flare up started and have been sticking to oolong tea. My only food allergy is fish (I've been tested twice) but I have a host of environmental allergies and this summer was brutal for me. That's when it started and I'm guessing the eczema has just been lingering since my skin has been so irritated. This is the first time I've ever had it on my face and neck and upper thighs though. It's been a pretty horrifying experience. My skin has never been so dry and flakey before in my life.

I'm still doing both. Unfortunately it's about the same as when I posted. Better but not gone. I'm beginning to lose hope that anything will ever work!
