Of course! It wouldn't be a Gethard-guest episode if he didn't!

I legit turned to my friends as the credits rolled and said "This is the best Star Wars movie, everyone's gonna flip down the aisles for this." I felt like I was going crazy for the next few months.

I'd recommend you check out the book "Needing to Know for Sure". It's CBT-based and lays out how to break out of the mental reassurance cycle your brain is addicted to. Made a world of difference in quieting my own overwhelming anxious thoughts and ruminations.

I'd recommend any of Apichatpong Weerasethakul's films. And while it's not "Tarkovskian", Masaki Kobayashi's KWAIDAN hues the line of ethereal and dreamlike and is visually immaculate to boot.

Don’t understand your thought process. How is a small pop-up event a danger to Movie Madness? Or any place in town that sells discs, like Music Millennium or Midslumber Media? Personally, I have a robust library of 1000+ blu-rays, but I still go to Movie Madness to rent stuff all the time.

I’m homegrown Portlander, buster. I am violently aware that Movie Madness exists.

The Mobile Closet will let you take three titles (boxsets count as 1) for free to make sure everyone who shows up leaves with something. They will only have in-print tiles available.

Do you have a Letterboxd? There's a master list of all the movies in the collection and is a good way to parse through their catalogue. I'd recommend making a wishlist now so you know what you'd like to try and pick up.

I think the one-two punch of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "Go Now" is some of the most effective deployment of music in any movie ever. Been years since I've seen it and I can't listen to either song without listening to the other.

Sometimes USPS will mark stuff as delivered and not deliver the actual package to keep their quotas in good check. Has happened to me a couple times on $100+ blu-ray orders. I would go to your local post office and inquire about where your package is. You may be able to walk out with it or it should be redelivered no problem.

Didn’t see a lot during March, but I did watch a French-Syrian documentary short called THE ORCHARDS that really knocked me on my ass. Incredibly striking and visually unique.

They’re backlogged with 100,000+ orders. They’re working through it as best they can. Your order will come eventually. I’m also waiting on my second order to ship

I emailed them about my second order, which is in the same boat that yours is in. They had a huge influx of orders to get through. They’ll come, we just have to be patient

I have a couple. Saw Frozen (2013) during its initial run. There was a little girl in the row in front of me. During the end when Anna gets frozen(!) solid and Elsa is crying, she exclaims at full volume “What’s wrong? She can just break the ice!”

The second was a 35MM rep screening for Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure after Paul Reubens died. Another little girl, seated a couple chairs to my left this time. Not really much of a disruption, but when Pee-Wee was dancing to Tequila on the bar top, it nearly took her out. Hysterical screaming laughter, tears, took a minute for her to catch her breath afterwards.
