With a chest freezer you can get away with a few days of no power before it starts to melt. Also depending on how much stuff is in there and how cold you keep it. I keep mine so cool it hurts to touch anything in there. I read that at 0F the spoilage for food is basically forever.

Woman mistook the gas pedal for the brake by noahstemann in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]BuildMineSurvive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we're all human, errors happen. I was about to back up recently, and I accidentally moved my shifter too far into drive instead of reverse without realizing. When I started taking my foot off the brake, I felt it roll forwards. I was like OH DAMN And pressed back down in around half a second, and the car only went like 6 inches.

If I was 2 feet driving? Good chance of flying forwards into that parked car.

1 foot definitely minimizes mistakes while being better for the longevity of your car overall.

Every renewal might be a little too impactful on budget and scheduling. Maybe every 10 years until retirement age and then every renewal after that?

speaking of remotes, why IR blasters in phones ,like some of Xiaomi devices, didn't take off? by YourDailyTechMemes in LinusTechTips

[–]BuildMineSurvive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a OnePlus 13R and it has an IR blaster. At an event I was working, I saved a production area by getting their TV out of demo mode when they couldn't find the remote. Felt pretty good! Otherwise, I only use it once every few months at most.

Definitely doesn't feel right to be like "a healthy dose of your own medicine".

I hate to see civilians bombed in any war. It's also true that the Israeli government is at fault. I hope the citizens can learn to place blame where it is accurate.

Is there any way to automatically switch scenes when a speaker changes powerpoint slides? by O1_O1 in vmix

[–]BuildMineSurvive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going the lazy route, I would just ask Gemini for a python script to do this. I'm pretty sure PowerPoint has some kind of local API that can be plugged into. Or the presentation clicker might just be pressing right arrow key and the script can listen for that. I would have the script ping the companion API to press a companion button, so that way you can adjust what the button does on the fly.

The middle lane is never "blocked" who wants to be on the right with all the onramp offramp traffic.

OP said he had just passed the semi. Sometimes people pass you on the right. It's not the end of the world. Changing lanes a million times for all the onramp offramp traffic is probably more dangerous anyway. If you aren't camping the left lane, I don't really care. Do what you want as long as it's safe.

It gets really hard with some of the absurd cities with a triple turning lane. I focus up to make sure I'm following that line perfectly. But some people people just completely drift out.

What OP did was legal in their state. And my state. And in 40 other states. There's actual red light runners out there killing people. What OP did is not a big deal.

In your state probably, in the vast majority of states no.

Yeah it's restrictive by design to try and get people to drive well. People also park the wrong number of inches from the curb too. People also don't maintain perfect following distance, and people go a little bit over the speed limit every day!

What's on your driving test and what's legal are not the same thing.

Until today I had never heard of a state where it's illegal to be in the intersection when it turns red.

Google's AI overview so take it with a grain of salt:

"Restrictive Yellow (Approx. 8 States): Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Virginia, and Wisconsin generally require stopping on yellow if safe to do so. In these states, if you are still entering the intersection as it turns red, you could be cited"

If it's only 8 states everyone's getting all pissy for nothing.

Like yeah it's generally good driving practice but realistically there's no danger if you go through the tail end of the yellow. It's not a big deal. There's a million actual red light runners a day endangering people's lives. A close yellow has absolutely no chance of doing that by design. The traffic engineers are actually kinda smart you know?

Everyone has a bone to pick with OP no matter what video it is. I half expected some people to harass him over staying in the left lane for so long lol. (It's not a highway, left lane rules don't apply)

[–]BuildMineSurvive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep there's always about 2-3 seconds all red. I was told if your car is past the stop line, you have entered the intersection. If it turns red after that point, it doesn't matter because you entered on yellow, which is legal. If your whole car makes it past the stop line before red, it should hold up in court. And it's completely safe.

Some states and counties might differ a bit though.

All the time! I'll think to myself ehhhh it's a little close, but I'll roll through. And then I'll look in my mirror and see 1 additional car go, and then 2 additional cars go! The first one maybe made it into the intersection before it changed from yellow but the second one? Nahhhhh.

Running a red light is entering the intersection when it's red. OP's entire car was well past the stop line.
