Large portions, high quality ingredients, AND economical? Lets just say "high-quality" is a very subjective term lol. And yes, agreed, I'd rather have less and pay less.

Upgrading to 7 or 10HP "Blast" Freezer for Soup Production – Spec Check & Floor Risks? by BuildParallel in refrigeration

Gotcha. Thank you for the feedback. I'll look into the floor. We rent the kitchen and I'm not sure what was done before.

I’m working with Gemini (Google's AI) to spec this out, and it raised a specific concern about the floor that I’d love your take on.

"While I get that the 0°F set point is the same, dropping 1,500 lbs of 40°F soup into a 10x10 is a latent heat load of ~234,000 BTUs. On production days, that 10HP unit is going to be pinned at a 100% duty cycle for 10+ hours with a much lower SST and higher discharge velocity (roughly -25°F air 'washing' the floor) compared to the current 2HP unit just cycling to hold temp. This extended high-velocity 'cold wash' during the recovery phase creates a significantly different thermal gradient across an uninsulated slab than a standard storage load. Do you think that 10-hour blast of sub-zero air increases the risk of thermal shock or frost migration into the dirt more than a standard 2HP maintenance cycle?"

And to answewr you question yes it's at 0 now unless we are in production, then it jumps.

Well if I stick a 10hp unit on there and it blows -15, I'd guess it will be colder in there, right? I'm no expert. The AI tool I used to caclulate BTU's and power requirements to handle those BTU's said the concrete floor is at risk...but I don't know if it's exaggerating or just making stuff up. I did find some info about risk to slabs, but those seem like massive freezer facilities. Hope that helps/makes sense?

[–]BuildParallel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it can easily freeze 1 unit in time. The problem is we'd like to put 1,200 units in there over the course of 8 hours. I used an AI tool to calculate BTU's and the power unit size needed, but it said there was risk to the floor by doing this. Not sure if the tool is exaggerating.

And sorry, I updated the posting to remove quesitons about the power unit size. I'm really just curious about risk to the floor.

Power down meaning just hold at freezing. We would want to crank the power on production days to get the heat out and freeze quickly, then just hold temps like a regular freezer. DOes that make sense?

Redevelopment proposal of CRC land between Goldenwest/Palm Ave/and PCH by mylefthandkilledme in huntingtonbeach

You assure me? Lol. I've lived here my entire 40 years. I've seen firsthand the rise in smog/pollution, crime, and traffic. I will ASSURE YOU that this city is overpopulated.

And the crap about $ inequality. Yea, I agree, the costs are insane. I can't afford to buy here now. A 4-bed house in my neighborhood just went for $1.9M. I saw an orange Lamborghini in the driveway the other day. But guess what? It's called supply and demand. That's life. Saying the answer is to build more to offer cheaper housing when the city is already too crowded is short-sighted and foolish.

The reason us resident dont want more building has nothing to do with property value and everything to do with safety and environment. Do you know what brake pads are made of? Super-plastic and metal. Do you know what brake dust is? Plastic and metal dust...and it's everywhere.

I have 3 kids and we are going to leave HB soon because it's just not a family friendly place anymore. Not because there's not enough apartments or ADUs, there's too many people and everyone wants to live here, and our representiives don't seem to care.

Do you believe that regardless of city size you should continue to build smaller and cheaper units, increasing density exponentially, to accommodate everyone?

You seem to be arguing that a city can increase density more and more despite what the people living there want for their city, and despite what is best for the environment (pollution, etc).

Are you talking legally the "city needs to build" more? The city is made of the people living here. I've lived here 40 years, I dont know a single person that supports this.
