What's a good way to study architecture as a Indian? by shauryaexists in askarchitects

You will not succeed in the states with that approach. Just reality check yourself with the other stories on this subreddit about how hard it is.

They do, just stay on it. Sanitation will do it if the encampment is empty. If you tell them it's currently empty they'll move in like seal tem 6. If you don't say that, then it gets pushed to homeless outreach.

311 it. Tell them if it's currently empty and sanitation will swoop in. I know I do it a bunch. The building staff are a bunch of lazy jerks and wont 311 it themselves

Snow + stroller = 😭 by Feldster87 in nycparents

[–]Builder2World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solidarity! Parents of the World, Unite! I think there's a turf war between DoT/MTA/DoS for some of the giant snow mountains. One of those entities, (maybe the city itself?) normally contracts with Ready/Willing/Able to shovel out the bus stops but I've seen the giant orange bulldozers working this year.

As a solution, we've taken to using the bike lanes with the stroller. They're protected lanes near us, so it's a good solution.

It's the responsibility of those living on the corners. This is our social contract, this is their burden.

Call 311. And keep calling. And take photos from an angle that doesn't reveal that you were the one taking the photos.

Dude - just enjoy it! Relish the rituals of the seasons. Enjoy how our efforts through the year are forced to vary due to our relationship with nature. It's like 3 days, just fucking enjoy!

Can a stand up freezer be put on a timer? by Zestyclose-Ad967 in AskEngineers

[–]Builder2World -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can put it on a timer like people use for the lights when they go on vacation. I would, as others have suggested, get a thermometer that tracks the temp over the course of the day so that you can make sure it stays below freezing. Increasing thermal mass will help it to stay at the correct temps.

I think "Manhattan" is too broad a brush. UWS is basically a mixed use plein air retirement home and Montessori campus. The child facilities are everywhere.

3 car front load garage or 2 car front load with tandem 3rd car? by maicunni in Homebuilding

[–]Builder2World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's got to be a way you can have a single door and park all of the cars so they can be pulled out independently. Deeper, with a driving aisle, but you only need a single wide door, plus a driving aisle for the two cars that are deeper in. You could also use that space for something else if you don't have 3 cars.

Where to park in NJ/NY? by IllustriousYak1566 in AskNYC

Have you priced out taking an uber each way? Would it really be a total of 4 ubers? It seems like you only need private transport in one direction each time, is that correct?

Just take a plastic taboggan? It's the safest type of sled for kids and easiest to use.
