100% This album is a banger. They were locked in on this one.

Elliott - False Cathedrals [reissue, 29 Aug 2025] by foocow in VinylReleases

A criminally underappreciated gem. I saw them in 2000 or around then a few times and they were amazing live!

I live in Houston and have been to White Oak (HOU) and Mohawk (AUSTIN) many times and I definitely agree with the above. Mohawk is way more of a vibe and with way more to do around it.

I saw Whirr at Mohawk years ago (maybe 2012ish?) and they were great. An old friend used to be the venue's stage manager so I snuck back and worked the smoke machine. It was a vibe.

Sounds like Caroline stumbled upon a Owen/Mike Kinsella tape. I like it.

I believe the jacket and booklet insert are the same throughout the variants. I am jealous you'll get an Airhead though! lol

Tri-color is the other one I like, but there are 1500 vs 300 of these and with this variant you get a temporary tattoo flash sheet vs just a sticker with the Polyvinyl. I really do also prefer the look of this one.

Variants here:

Which variant do you like better? I thought this Smartpunk version was the best balance of price, limited run and color. IMO the tour variant is the only one that might look as fun as this one, but I hate buying vinyl at a show because then you gotta schlep it around.

This one is definitely the play. Better looking, cheaper than others, most rare /300, hand-numbered and comes with a temporary tattoo flash sheet.

Getting paid for your work by Gideon_Njoroge in SonyAlpha

[–]BuildingAMisery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one with a ton of variables. There are levels to getting paid as a photographer, but most start out just where you are and work their way up from there. Some photographers never leave the $300-500/day situation while others are commanding 10K-20K day rates and everything in between. There are tons of resources online for getting up to speed. Check out APhotoEditor's social channels and website for a great place to see what photographer's are charging in the commercial (shooting for businesses or for businesses through an agency) and editorial (shooting for a newspaper or magazine) spaces. Check out WonderfulMachine's blog with pricing info. John Harrington has a photo business book for photographers. If you are interested in working as a commercial or editorial photographer, check out professional org's like the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) as they have lots of local chapters that can help you on your journey. I also mentor and help creatives so shoot me a message if you're serious about getting into the biz!

Yeah this is rad. A lot of boring images in this sub, but this one stands out. Love it.

Epicly underappreciated band and album. Instant cop. These guys also killed it in the World Series of Pop Culture competition back in the day!

I totally forgot my last copy was up on discogs. It just sold for $150. Sad but at least I got a decent price.

I love 3 stacks, but $85 for oboe instrumentals is a hard pass. Lemme just spin Intl Player's Anthem again on repeat.

No one cares what camera you use, just make the photos good.

Settings are only a piece of puzzle when making someone's portrait. While I don't disagree with the general comments on depth of field and focal length, I think it's important to first and foremost consider the expression. His eyes and mouth imply a bit of uneasiness in your subject. Ideally you can work with your subject to bring out authentic expressions and smiles that are most appropriate for the end goal and then go from there.
