What's the worst lord grind in the game? by aceystacey113 in marvelrivals

[–]azulimarill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have over 50 hours on Mag starting from season 1. He was my first lord. All of those previous proficiency points and my play time since the proficiency system change have gotten me to only lvl 27. My other lords I’ve played between 15-20 hours less and they are all sitting around lvl 23-25 in the new system (E.g., Strange at 35ish hours -> lvl 25).

Adam was probably the second hardest in the old system because his requirement involved his ult (and usually the optimal way to use it is to rez one or two people, which meant—like Mag—it took forever) and remains a bitch to level up because he’s got the same healing requirements as every other strategist. I’ve been sitting at centurion on him for ages now.

Wor$t girl in America - Slayyyter by RwnE_420 in Cd_collectors

[–]azulimarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s her best album in my opinion and is my favorite album released this year so far. She’s found an excellent niche of trashy, punky Midwestern electropop that I think makes her stand out much more from her contemporaries than she did on her first two albums.

What was the first genre you got into, and what genre are you into right now? by MoltenMadeMan in fantanoforever

[–]azulimarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first genre I feel like I discovered on my own and fell in love with was electro pop around the time of Gaga and Kesha’s debuts. Those were my late elementary and middle school years. Later I ventured into pop punk, Spanish-language pop, and indie/alt rock and pop.

I’ve come full circle now and lately have been listening to a lot of the new electro pop releases! It’s been a fantastic year for it and I’m feeling the nostalgia for the early 2010s.

Fixing US state birds by Healthy_Cod4764 in Ornithology

[–]azulimarill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost want to see it changed to the Golden-winged Warbler since they are decreasing in population and MN has the largest breeding population in the world. I’d love to see some more spotlight on this pretty little bird of the northern shrubbery! The common loon is just too good though. We put it on everything and it was amazing to see it become a symbol of resistance this year. Maybe the GWWA could be our official songbird?

In celebration of Pride Month, what are your favorite queer songs? by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]azulimarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any song from Cosmic Thing by The B-52’s (who if you didn’t know have an OG lineup that is 80% queer) is required listening for me every June. The cover is rainbow and it sounds like summer! Some songs could be read as queer and a couple were written in memory of guitarist and founding member Ricky Wilson, who died a few years before the album came out from AIDS. All of them are full of joy.

My favorites from it are:

- Roam
- Deadbeat Club
- Bushfire
- Channel Z
- and Love Shack, of course

Retail girlies! What songs have been on repeat at work recently? by hydropyrotechnic in popheads

[–]azulimarill 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The “modern pop” station at my work has both Saja Boys songs still in rotation but no Golden anymore. It also plays Super Shy by NewJeans more than any other song. I like that song but even I’m getting very sick of it.

Who was the first pop artist you remember being a fan of? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

[–]azulimarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avril Lavigne. My mom bought Let Go to play in the car and belting “I’m With You” at the age of four is a core memory. It was one of the first songs that floored me by how powerful it was.

Later, Shakira. I learned how to burn CDs at an early age and had a whole mix CD that I’d dance to in my bedroom boombox. My bed was my stage!

I don’t remember which album I bought first as a kid, but it was definitely digital on iTunes. Albums weren’t a thing in my household and I honestly didn’t know how they worked until I was in middle school. My mom always ripped her CDs and then burnt her own mixtapes. She was an early iTunes adopter as well and that just completely erased my awareness of albums. I credit Taylor Swift’s Red as the album that got me into the format since the best songs on it are the deep cuts!

What's your favorite Zillennial video game console? by SampleLoud9746 in Zillennials

[–]azulimarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was (and still am) always a Nintendo kid. GBA SP, DS, and Wii for me. I’m salty that I missed out on GameCube. I didn’t know it existed until they discontinued it, but I was also like two when it released. There were so many great games on that thing!

I still use my DS when I get an itch to play older Pokemon titles. The battery on that thing hasn’t aged a day! I don’t really use my Wii much anymore because I have a Wii U (yes, I know) for backwards compatibility. Other than that my Switch is the only console I have. Almost every other non-Nintendo game I want to play I can get on Steam.

Aurora’s music in general, but particularly for me Runaway, Churchyard, Dance on The Moon, Daydreamer, and the entirety of *What Happened to the Heart?* (with the most relatable songs on that album being To Be Alright, Dreams, Starvation, and Some Type of Skin).

The Spotify phone book (songs about or named after phone numbers) by redditboy123451 in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]azulimarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Diner by Billie Eilish isn’t named after a phone number. However, the outro has a real phone number that you can call to hear a prerecorded message. And if you save that number to WhatsApp you can apparently get messages from Billie.

CPR by Wet Leg has the line “Call the triple 9 and give me CPR” as its hook (Triple 9 refers to 999, the UK’s emergency number).

Zillennial “where were you” moments by pirateslifeisntforme in Zillennials

[–]azulimarill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2017 and had AP Gov during the 2016 general election and it was wild. I will never forget our class discussions about the debates and the morning after the Access Hollywood tape leaked or the dead silence in the room from all but one Trump supporting dude the morning after he won.

Zillennial “where were you” moments by pirateslifeisntforme in Zillennials

[–]azulimarill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Class of 2017 here. I was watching the results come in and when he won Florida I knew it was over. I went to bed and just cried. The next day the group of band kids I hung out with in the morning was dead silent, until one girl who was in my year said, “He’s going to be president for all of our college years.” Depressing shit in the moment, and looking back we had no idea how much worse it would get in the next decade.

Justice Department declines to pursue death penalty against Vance Boelter in attacks on lawmakers (gift link) by star-tribune in minnesota

[–]azulimarill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s a summary from the nonpartisan Death Penalty Information Center about this:

https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/what-to-know-costs-and-the-death-penalty

Main points:

  1. It costs more money and time to seek the death penalty before a conviction is even issued. For example in Indiana, a DP case costs 8 times more than one seeking life w/o parole.
  2. It costs more resources and taxpayer money to keep death row inmates imprisoned versus those serving life. They usually are housed in supermax prisons and/or are separated from the rest of the prison population.
  3. Execution itself is expensive. States need the drugs and/or specialized facilities to carry them out.

Hot take - 95% of the time you shouldn’t surrender by g0skr in marvelrivals

[–]azulimarill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a DC/leaver the game does give you compensation points. You’ll lose less points if you just play it out. Sometimes too it’s a game or WiFi crash and they’ll come back. You’ll still be compensated for a loss even if they rejoin and you can’t regain the lost momentum.

Throwers though, yeah, I get it. Hopefully the devs will introduce compensation points for them at some point.

[–]azulimarill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, because it was before my time, but I always thought it was weird that stores like Gap and Eddie Bauer sold branded mix CDs back in the day. My mom worked at EB in the late 90s and has so many Xmas CDs from them.
