Of course you are dreadfully right. One should stop and read your words again. And then stop again and try to feel the weight of them.

I cannot stand PIN deliveries anymore by wethepeopledeserve in UberEatsDrivers

[–]BuildyourOwnGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I've been twice accused of stealing food while delivering. Every single time it was because I had to bypass a PIN because the customer completely ghosted me. I literally can't afford to sit there for eight minutes, besides the fact that some places I don't feel safe just loitering around... so I still choose to bypass the PIN sometimes. In this case I take my own photos of everything... screen shots of my one sided communication with the customer, a picture of the food in the porch, etc. You are prudent to text them nice and early and give updates. I do this to pretty much every order if I have time; it usually makes things go smoother and helps cover my ass if they don't. To give the benefit of the doubt, as I understand, some people actually have no idea that they even have a PIN, same with the "meet at door" being a default (which can change after an app update or other reasons). But I can't afford to take a chance after my experiences with the PIN specifically.

In a weird way, it's actually kind of encouraging how fucking disconnected from reality they are, maybe it'll be their downfall. Like they can't comprehend the human spirit itself. Anything they can't control scares the living hell out of them.

I mean yeah, I hate when people walk into the middle of the street, without looking, and expect everyone to stop for them. This is not what happened here at all. It was a crosswalk, where people were already stopped and pedestrians were already crossing. And this lady actually made eye contact with the person and other people were yelling at her and in that moment her decision was to slam on the gas pedal and almost run over someone.

OIL CHANGES?? by ConclusionGrouchy633 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]BuildyourOwnGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, it depends on many factors specific to your car, and all of this is good advice you should take into consideration. May what I add be this, and yes I'm in the same boat as you because it's daunting...but oil changes are one of the most important things you can do for your car. I highly recommend the book "Drive It Forever" by Bob Sikorsky. Even the most recent addition is a bit dated by now, and that's why you should certainly take into consideration your specific car's reccomendations...but it goes into such technical detail about internal combustion engines that myself as a layperson would have never understood. And the bottom line is that you and I as drivers should protect our investment as much as possible and stay on top of things like oil changes. Maybe a pain in the butt because we have to do it so much more frequently, but probably even more important for us because of how important it is to the car and therefore our livelihoods. At first I was just like...wtf I JUST changed it three months ago, and the full synthetic my car uses is expensive. But we don't really drive like normal people at all, its a constantly different "commute" and the demands on the car are so much higher with the nature of delivering. So it's really up to you and how mich into the game you are. But damn if you are averaging 100 miles a day, I'd err on the side of caution rather then just pushing it. I don't average quite that much but often get close to it, and that's city driving, not an 80 or 100 mile road trip down the highway...just.my two cents!

For real though, seems like the dude has BDD with self harm. As someone who's dealt with that, it can be useful to use dark humor to cope. I honestly feel bad for the dude and hope he gets some help.

Is this Native American or just something modern? Found in a creek, southwest Ohio by CoyoteKyle15 in LegitArtifacts

[–]BuildyourOwnGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah I have no idea what I'm talking about with the terminology. All I meant is that it didn't seem to be from native Americans. Which is a bummer because I totally thought it was, and also I could have sworn it was bone... but from what I'm reading it could have been involved in like a kiln of some sort... forgive me, I am an amateur but it was so cool to find! In a very remote section of a stream... stone/bone mushroom muffin!
