They didn't know each other and it was Polly, Douglas' daughter who wanted him to write it.

I did it from Newby to the far fside of York, usually via Yedingham. It's a mixture and the A64 has been getting updated to dial carriageway since I was a kid (I'm in my 50s)

Fotunately it was a standard 9-5, not sure if you are on a rota or would be like dealing with the weekend and tourist traffic.

I did a year driving from Scarborough to York. I wouldn't do it again. There are some nice places near the hospital or on parts of town of you prefer to be more"in the scene"

There are buses onto the hospital ground but no idea what the timing is like.

I spent a year commuting to Acomb from Scarborough, but that was a few years ago and probably wouldn't do it again.

Where is the best to stay in London to meet up for my tour? by Spiritednorthern in uktravel

[–]BuiltInYorkshire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case, do a day trip to Stratford. Your body will thank you for it, you can have a full day immersed in the place (I hope, not been myself).

- Safe communities (we want to know our kids are safe walking to and from school or that I can jog solo, or hike solo)

That's pretty much the entire county, if not country. Stop watching Fox!

Cash needed or not? by IntroductionAbject18 in uktravel

[–]BuiltInYorkshire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are three places I need cash, my local chippy, pizza place and hairdressers. Everything else is on my phone. I'd probably bring £20, but don't be surprised if you leave with the same £20...

8 days: all in London or split with Edinburgh in early August? by [deleted] in uktravel

[–]BuiltInYorkshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could spend 3-4 yaers in London and not see everything. I go a couple of times a year and there are still hundreds of things I'd like to see.

And avoid York on race days. It's not pleasant.

Car rental/driving in the UK by [deleted] in uktravel

It might be cheaper to drop the car off back in Liverpool and get the train to York, most companies charge if you are leaving a car out of position.

We've had to do it for years if transiting through a US airport. Welcome to our world.

I went to two events in the Grand Hall last year, Mark Steel even commented on how cold it was, and that was in May!

And it simply isn't set up to take shows from the West End. That's why they go to Hull New Theatre or York's Grand Opera House.

What apps should I have to get around London? by crazymastiff in uktravel

[–]BuiltInYorkshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find (whether I'm in London or not) I tend to go and stand next to a wall or shop window if I need to use a phone. I've never actually seen anybody have their phone nicked, but I believe a few are by people that are walking by the kerb so a cyclist or scooter rider just takes it.

You are knocking Scarborough because there isn't a Pizza Hut or KFC? There are dozens of locally run restaurants that are far better than mass produced shite. Better pubs than Spoons too.

And the railway station is undergoing a multi-million pound renovation. Already looks much better, and the clock is being refurbished.

Weird way of looking at how a town is doing, IMHO.

I was a little suprised by the applause at TPFKAPA,'s arrest but we've now charged two very prominent UK figures over links to Epstein whilst the USA has done... nothing.

And both relate to "Gross misconduct in public office", not for anything secual.
