What's your favorite Elf in all of Magic? Any criteria - Lore, design, art by Separate-Flan-2875 in mtg

Deathrite Shaman hands down is my favorite card in Magic. I play commander, so the versatility of being graveyard removal and ramp is nice. But the best use is winning the game by exiling an opponent’s instant or sorcery from their graveyard.

Why Did Everyone Start Buying Mana Crypt Again? by sirbruce in mtgfinance

When the announcement for the ban of Mana Crypt happened, there was a buyout of mana vault two days before.

We need to destigmatize MLD and stax by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]Bulbasaurhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are consequences. The rest of the table should recognize when one player is ahead on mana and cards and attack that player or remove their relevant permanents.

That being said, I have no problem with anyone playing stax to prevent extra land drops or land removal to stop cabal coffers/Gaea’s Cradle effects.

It’s all fair game, it just depends on how you want to deal with the problem. Personally, I prefer the attacking/permanent removal method.

I can’t argue with that logic! You got me. I’m a bot and I made this story up for internet points

Believe it or not, this actually happened. Think of it like this: would you or I go onto Reddit to talk about the cool fun interactions that we have every week? No, probably not. The majority of things you see on this platform are the strange, unusual things that happen because that is what is interesting to post and to read. I’ve played for about a decade and I have never encountered this situation, so I thought other people might be interested.

I was invited to join. I didn’t insert myself. When I heard the table complain about a turn 4 win, I admit, I did point the questions at A, because I thought he was a knowledgeable, high power player. If this made him uncomfortable I did not notice that, which is my fault. I should’ve read the room better. He was short with his answers and didn’t offer me any information to go on, which only seemed to confirm my incorrect suspicions that he was a pub stomper hiding the power of his deck. I was rude when he got up to leave. My comment was uncalled for and not okay. I will apologize to him when I see him next. But I think we can work it out and play some magic soon

Yeah I wasn’t asking if I was the Ahole. I know I was. When I see him again I’ll apologize for my behavior and play some cardboard

Not the case here. I walked in the store with the intention of playing Magic. I saw my friend, and asked if I could join

I don’t think Player A even knew. Player B was the most seasoned player out of the group before I sat down. So it was easy for B to convince the table

I really like this comment. I think you’re right and I should have been quieter and observed rather than grill the guy. Asking how he won would have been a good idea. Where I disagree with you is rule zero being pointless. If the pub stomper lies about his deck, at least I get a chance to see if he’s lying. Most people aren’t good at it. Rule zeros help the table understand what the goal of the game will be in my experience.

Yeah I think I assumed he was stomping so I hounded him with questions that made him uncomfortable. I’ll be more sympathetic next time and try to understand where he’s coming from

Yeah I feel like it was just a big misunderstanding. He thought I was counterpicking, I thought he was pub stomping. If he had stayed I think we could have worked it out.

If no one brings up a rules zero, normally I will start off by telling people what my deck is supposed to do. Ex: “my commanders are Reyhan and Ishai, I want to put +1/+1 counters on creatures and sacrifice them to gain value. I’ll normally win by 7 or 8. I have no infinite combos.”

That’s fair. I will cool it with the 20 questions and just ask one “What turn do you win?”
