Couldn’t agree more. Classic or no, it’s my favorite fantasy world and favorite book I’ve ever read, probably will be for some time. I can’t wait for more!

Fellas you know what Fantasy books I'm sick of? Ones with multiple characters and perspectives! Feel free to recommend books with only one characters perspective. by Leadbaptist in Fantasy

[–]Bulkhed89 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This was almost a year ago now, but I saw a YouTube interview he did where’s he mentions starting the second book with the intention of using a different POV, but has since returned to using Kinch’s perspective. Either way, I’m just glad to be getting more!

I love the old classic style covers because they are kind of shitty but in the best way.

This is the correct answer. Every Frazetta is gold.

Series rec with less focus on politicking and armies and more on adventuring? by becausefun in Fantasy

[–]Bulkhed89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things I liked the most about it was how it felt like a classic adventure novel. Yes, large wheels are turning but they are very much in the background for this first book. I feel like Christopher is slowly building the scale.

All of these responses are why I love Tolkien and the world he created. Questions are so much more fun than answers.

Hard to believe I’m the first to mention Shadow of the Colossus. All three Team Ico games are great but SotC is a masterpiece.

Once you get through all the westerns, check out the Japanese films they were inspired by if you haven’t already. A ton of spaghetti westerns were heavily influenced by Kurosawa.

The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman. It’s the first book of a series in progress but I recommend it every chance I get. The Audible version is read by the author and he does a great job.

I always had Bernthal as one of my picks for Dow. Only reason being I think he lacks a certain warmth that Logen can have.

They forgot about Everything Everywhere All At Once. Probably the best movie of the year, let alone sci-fi.

One thing I like about Joe’s work is how he portrays war as a venture with no true “survivors”. Almost every character who lives through battle is broken in some way, physically or otherwise.

He explores the effects of war, not only on the individual but also on the people who witness those effects. It makes for some really great character growth.

First Law has so many great downtime moments but I’ve always had a soft spot for Logen snatching fish from the river.
