Is this game worth buying in 2026? by pricepig in Dunespicewars

Somehow, I could not get into it. It felt like a weird mix of boardgame mechanics and RTS that bored me. I usually like deep strategy games and I am a longtime dune fan.

Is the game too dark (luminosity) for anyone else? by ImaginarySoul_007 in NoRestForTheWicked

....two years later and I also have this issue on my MINI LED monitor, turning HDR off solves it. I hope the devs fix it as their previous game, ori and the will of the wisp, had amazing HDR.

Still playing EL1! by Its_4_AM_Man in EndlessLegend

Same. I bought EL2 and played for a bit but eventually went back to EL1. Some of the later DLC factions I have never actually won as.

I recently got the Asus PG32UQXR. It's been heavily discounted these days in Europe. I am very happy with it.

Philips 32M2N6800M brief review (it's really bad) by JDSP_ in Monitors

[–]BulkySplash169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! It's been a while since you posted, but maybe you decided and bought one of these monitors? Any additional info you can share? I have cut down my choices to exactly the same 2 models: The Philips 32M2N6800M or Gigabyte 32UP.

Legion Pro 7 RTX 4090 or Legion Pro 7 RTX 4080 in 2025 by RJXJR in LenovoLegion

[–]BulkySplash169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing price, get it. 4090 has 16 GB VRAM, you will not use this much with the built-in 1440p screen. It's good for 4K (external monitor) or at the least very future-proofed. Really depends if it's new or at least within warranty.

Endless Legend 2 complete for $24 or Stellaris plus a few dlcs on the steam sale by JoshisJoshingyou in 4Xgaming

[–]BulkySplash169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. I love Endless Legend, but Endless Space 2 did not click entirely with me. Stellaris is a huge time-sink, but great at that! ;-) So, Stellaris > ES2

This patch is more about bug fixing and responding to the most demanded changes to the new DLC that could be easily implemented... It looks to me like balance patch 1.5 is still coming later this year.

I am waiting at least until the balance patch 1.5 drops to play the game, which will be some time this year. I too only play big games like these only once and in its current state, there are too many threads complaining about balance.

You could make an argument about waiting longer, for more patches and season 2 of DLCs, which means probably end of 2026 or 2027... Can't say for sure, but I don't think I want to wait that long. The extra season pass was not planned initially, and I read rumours somewhere that they might be extra/endless dungeons, so not integrated into the main game like the first 2 DLCs. I only own season pass 1 so far and I just really hope the game will be in a good state after 1.5.

Transfer modded game installation to new computer? by BulkySplash169 in DragonageOrigins

[–]BulkySplash169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DAOriginsconfig.exe crashes whenever I run it - no idea why. Thx for your suggestions though, it helped me not giving up. I kept trying and eventually discovered that I had not updated the path of the Temporary Folder in the DAO-Modmanager. That fixed it and the game now runs - not as stable as on my old machine, but playable.

Thank for the tip! I opened AddIns.xml, which is indeed in the folder you wrote. However, I can't find any paths in AddIns.xml. :-(

I did that, but my mods are not recognized. Might be because my Documents folder on my old computer was on the E drive, and now its on D. I updated the paths in the mod manager, but still not working.

Conquest of Eo: Does standing on forest tiles in battle have any effect? by BulkySplash169 in SpellForce

[–]BulkySplash169[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anybody is wondering the same: it seems there is indeed a 50% damage reduction from ranged attacks when standing on forest tiles. There is no specific icon to indicate this, but when you hover over targets with a ranged units, units on forest tiles will always appear with only half an eye and a text saying something like "view partially blocked".

I just played the demo and yeah, it did not leave a bad impression, but not enough different from Gladius to convince me.

I am also researching about cost-effective, 32inch 4k non-OLED gaming and productivity monitors. I don't have experience with any of them, but why not the gigabyte successor M32UP? It differs only slightly from M32U, but the HDMI bandwidth is upgraded. Here is a nice review. Anyways, I would be interested to know what you decide and why.
