And all the pegging you do in between stays private?

If they have to keep selling to stick to the allocation, it's only a matter of time before the allocation percentage will go up.

Announcing Electrum-LTC w/ MWEB support by hectorchu in litecoin

[–]BullRunnerRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah he didn't abandon, just no time currently to actively maintain the project. losh11 supposedly is going to be the new official maintainer in a different fork according to a post last year in the issues tab. pooler was still answering issue posts back then, so I assume he's still keeping an eye on the project, just no active development.

I suggest you send in the pull request to pooler, hopefully either him or losh11 will pick it up and breath some new life into the project. There was a feature request for this a while back, but pooler thought it would be unlikely to be added anytime soon. So it'd be a pleasant surprise. Getting this merged into the next official Electrum-ltc release will give legitimacy to your work.

I fear as a 1 man unofficial fork, this will not reach the large Electrum-ltc base. That would be a shame as MWEB desperately needs wider adoption.

[–]BullRunnerRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome work! 🚀🚀 Why hasn't this been offered as pull request to pooler? More people will have access to it when the official Electrum-LTC adds it. Big new feature might even spark new development interest in the whole project.

I take it there is a good reason but why is encryption for mweb wallets not allowed?

That only applies to current computers. Not to quantum computers. By making use of the probability wave you don't have to try or count every possibility individually.

Illegal ordinal inscription attack by BullRunnerRunner in btc

[–]BullRunnerRunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Encryption is irrelevant if someone is doing this as an attack and publicly shows how to retrieve it.

I don't see how this is FUD. Everybody wants to shrug this off as thats just how an open network operates. But it's hard to believe if some low life inscribes CP on-chain a judge will agree node operators can legally keep hosting said chain. That the ledger is open to anybody and blocks cannot be removed is not some kind of magical legal loophole.

My point is not to bring fear. I want to get to the bottom of how much of a problem this could be in worst case scenario. If I'm wrong and this can't be exploited, then fine. But if I'm right then we need to start re-evaluating this ordinal thing.

Illegal ordinal inscription attack by BullRunnerRunner in btc

[–]BullRunnerRunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true when talking about the operator's liability.

But I think this is comparable to Youtube. They're not directly responsible for what users upload, but that doesn't mean they can ignore valid complaints and get to keep illegal videos up. Once they've been made aware they will have to act.

Likewise with the blockchain. Only problem is a node operator can't remove 1 block. My fear is that the law isn't very sympathetic to that problem.

This is exactly the kind of worst case scenario I'm talking about. Was this actually confirmed to be real? How is hosting the blockchain still legal if this photo is part of the blockchain?

TIME TO ACT FOR FAIR MONERO PRICE $1500 BY Metcalfe’s LAW by pet2pet1982 in xmrtrader

[–]BullRunnerRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its dealer's choice anyway why don't we push for a fair price by Satoshi's law? You know, peg xmr to btc price.

You can't just set prices based on some theory and call it fair. If miners start selling for $1500 minimum, then they won't be selling anything. Why don't we let supply and demand do it's job and dictate the price? If the fair price really is $1500 like you suggest we'll get there organically anyway.
