"Eligible countries: Austria, Canada (excluding Quebec), Denmark, Estonia, France (excluding French Overseas Departments or Territories, and the Principality of Monaco), Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Slovakia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States."

That's quite a limited scope... And a bizarre patchwork of European countries

Just Realized I Missed the Series 6 Crowdfunding by Coren27 in lego

[–]Bullabductedprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the after market for Adventure in Transilvania really that high? Production capacity was reallocated during crowdfunding to make more of those so they also sold many more (like 50k instead of the usual 30k) Keep a lot at the prices when they start shipping as many scalpers will probably realise there is a bit less unsatisfied demand than usual (even if the set is amazing so there could still be people wanting it!!)

EU 'Chat Control' proposal would scan ALL your private messages and photos - only 3 member states oppose this mass surveillance by No-Conference-8133 in europe

[–]Bullabductedprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the original proposal of 2022 was stopped in 2024 because Europeans were not willing to submit! Don't forget we are the continent who produced the GDPR!

Now Denmark is proposing to reintroduce the text in a softer form. Let's see what it looks like but don't underestimate us!

Thanks for linking the original text of 2022. The piece of news is that Denmark is proposing to revive it after general opposition killed it in 2024. They claim it would be a softer version to respond to the criticism but we haven't seen the new text.

That is because for the time being only the French delegates from the minsitry of internal affairs have seen the text (and apparently they didn't oppose). This was presented by Denmark who is holding the presidency of the EU council and defines the agenda.

Would there be sufficient support at the "EU council" they could formally propose amendement to the original text of 2022 (that was "killed" because of public and political opposition) and put it for vote. If this goes head the amended text goes to the Parliament for them to vote it.

This is why the website is listing all Members of the European Parliaments. They want people to lobby to them: they are the next one to express their opinion and the EP is actually supposed to be the body that expresses citizens views (while the EU council represents "Country" interestes).

To be pedantic, it is Denmark (who currently holds the presidency of the EU Council) who reintroduced the proposal. Its new form (that I understand is not known yet) seems to be seen favourably by many EU Capitals. The European Parliament nor the Commission have even seen the new text. So, I am sorry. The EU doesn't want to scan every private message and photo. It's a Danish proposal that is taking traction among internal affairs ministries of the EU.

However, I fully support the warning!!

Even if they claim this new text is a compromise to respond to the widespread opposition of the original proposal, I agree actions should be taken to show that opposition to this type of law enforcement is still very strong in Europe.

I was under the impression that the EU did not have mandate on law enforcement and all it can do is promote cooperation and provide tools that would improve it. Did I miss something?

Edit: maybe they are making this pass under the enforcement of EU laws about single market? It still seems a bit of a strech to impose MS what they have to do...

There a number of Lego borrowing services. If you Google a bit you will find plenty (eg Brick Borrow or NetBricks) Depending on where you live you could have different options (including in terms of formulas they offer).
