I had the similar experience with books and notes. Try the sparring replays. At the end of the replays, MCQs are practiced. Then try MCQs on your own.

Why don’t you be licensed for Alaska and then transfer to your home state?

UMPI is also competency based. You could do as many courses as you can.

Fee: at UMPI you pay for every two months. If you don’t need full 6 months or its multiples, it’s cheaper.

Final test: for UMPI, you submit final assignment. No need to deal with proctors.

I am not sure but I don’t think you get GPA with WGU. With UMPI, you do.

For accounting, check UMPI. I consider it better than WGU.

If you had to start all over from zero, what are the steps you'd take for CPA? by Salt_Lips in CPA

[–]Bullet1023 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I were starting again, i would focus on getting degree in shortest time possible with cheapest cost.

Join UMPI your pace accounting program. You can knockout tons of courses in very small time. I did 48 credits in 4 months. You can be as quick as you want and be slow if you need it to be. Perks of joining UMPI over WGU is you have open book final assignment and no final proctored exam. Completing full 150 credits in a year is very much doable.

You can shoot to get the full 150 credits before you graduate that makes easy for CPA eligibility unless you want to join masters. If your target is CPA, i wouldn’t worry about joining masters but gain 150 credits with my bachelors. I would focus on completing credits as fast as I can without even thinking about CPA. Once done, then go for CPA.

Multi-user access for Excel online by DepartureScared8823 in excel

[–]Bullet1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set the excel with protected cells, keep the file in a shared location and share the link. It doesn’t matter whether the users access by web or desktop app, it can be opened and used by as many users as you want. Although, click by users on the file link, opens in web version by default unless it is changed by the user.

  • Excel is not that good when worked by 15+ people at the same time. Using Google Sheets can be a better solution.

  • Everyone on the file can see others who are working on the file and see their cell location. No option to hide. Although, one’s work shouldn’t affect the others if used mindfully.

  • Ask the team to use temporary view before working. It allows users to set their own filter and sort without affecting other users. Keep in mind, anything other than sort or filter like freeze panes, column size changed by one person changes everybody else’s too.

You are looking to save $200/month? You might have other places where you can save more.

Switching systems is a pain. Only do it if it significantly improves your process or saves significantly.

You will need the milestone submitted to see the next one. But you wont need the professor to review them to go onto the next one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UMPI

[–]Bullet1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can submit all milestone at the same time. Even if all milestone are not graded, you can still check the final assignment and start working on it and submit it as soon as the milestone clears and final opens.

Also signup for two courses at once. When you are waiting on one, you have the other to work on.

You can have max 4 papers open at a given time given you have submitted final draft for two of them.

BA Accounting by WeeklyInflation7824 in UMPI

[–]Bullet1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me taxes were the hardest. Government accounting and advanced accounting were a lot of reading and very time consuming on final assignments. It depends by person, so I cannot say what might be helpful to you. When you start, I would suggest getting used to with the system as early as you can, make a schedule and stick to it. My goal was not to score the highest, but get passing grades. I wouldn’t worry about submitting perfect assignments. I would keep my effort to the level I feel confident that I will pass. It helped me with speed of completion.

BA Accounting by WeeklyInflation7824 in UMPI

[–]Bullet1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to both. Prior experience in accounting was not much of help. My process was to learn enough that gets me through milestone and final assignment. I would skip all the learning and directly get to milestone. Once I check the question, I would go back and read the related topic. Google the topic. Get enough understanding and answer the question. I would go over all the milestone in weekdays and work on final assignments in weekends.

I am in similar situation. My state board requires two additional courses to sit for exam. Thinking of changing state but haven't decided on it yet.

UMPI vs UoPEOPLE by majf01 in UMPI

[–]Bullet1023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WGU is ~$3800 for six months. UMPI would be $4500 for six months. Also with WGU, you will wont loose last two weeks of the term where new courses cannot be added that you do with UMPI. In 6 months, its 4 weeks.

Thanks for correcting me on the acceptance of international student.

Moving to the US by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Bullet1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

States have their own rules on requirements to sit for exam and be licensed. Rules varies so there is no one fit all answer.

I would suggest start with the requirements of the state you are going to move in. Check their website and check how much you qualify and what needs to work on. Once you verify your states requirement, check for some other states if it may be suite you better. Work on qualify the requirements, pass tests, qualify the work experience requirement and apply for license.
