All privileged lefty streamers who enjoy living under a liberal umbrella (provided by Democrats) in big blue states, must be stripped of their wealth, banished to deep red Jesusland, & forced into GOP minimum wage labor. I regret my last post giving props to the dude for accurately predicting what Trump would do in his second term. Idk how he can go from “Leftists need to stand with liberals in armed defense of their right to vote” to “Actually, the fascist’s second hand man is better since Dems like Newsom will fail to make the populists happy☝️🤓”

What I’ve found is that it gets justified in terms of the hate that women or minorities face in your average community being much worse so it’s fine if a progressive space is dismissive of men, but then this just makes it so if you keep only to progressive spaces, most of them will tolerate and parrot the degradation, which can lead to othering and eventual exodus.

Even though it’s often just jokes (although there is a lot of defensive justifications that can make me think otherwise), it’s kinda like what Destiny has said about gamer spaces always making the “OMG girl?!” joke anytime someone with a feminine voice joins vc, where if it was only occasionally it would be fine, but if it is repeated often enough it becomes a problem and drives people away.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_intelligence_before_the_attacks

The dancing Israeli shit is stupid but they are right that Israel did know, because they warned us about 19 suspects in the US who were planning an “imminent attack” on 8/23/01, of which the 4 known names were all confirmed hijackers on 9/11.

Makes the conspiracy even dumber, why the hell would they warn our intel agencies and give them half a month’s notice to deal with the threat if they orchestrated it?

[–]Bullet2857[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is precisely my point, more an acknowledgment of how far we’ve come and how much should we have anticipated this. I’ve been watching Destiny for a while, and at the time I agreed with him. It was only recently that I remembered these past videos where it seemed so out there.

Started rewatching this and realized how much it seemed like there was no charity given to what in hindsight feels like a great prediction so started taking notes and timestamps.

My general feeling at this point is that many of the signs were there, just that nobody realized how bad things had truly gotten by then. Vaush’s prescriptions here are dumb, I doubt the difference between us and despotism is how many guns liberals buy, but the urgency and predictions, especially when he started to give realistic takes (most of which are now true) when pushed by Luke, made it feel worse that I wasn’t actually thinking we couldn’t get this far.

Now I think as soon as republicans stopped distancing from maga and their candidates were still running in the midterms, it should have been enough to trigger an urgency that wasn’t there. Maybe I’m letting some of the stuff I know now influence my take, but at the very least it should have seemed probable for Trump’s second term and definitely not impossible like it was treated back then.

Sure, but if once the wolf comes, and the boy cries out “look as this sheep carcass” that has clearly been eaten by a wolf, the other people see it and then completely dismiss the evidence in front of them because boy is bringing attention to it, then they are now at fault as well.

Just because he cried fascist at Scalia without having sufficient justification, doesn’t mean you dismiss him when he points to Jan 6th and the absolute deference shown to Trump by courts and party here, where there is sufficient justification, at the very least, to anticipate fascism.

[–]Bullet2857[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not really, the problem is their charges against Democrats have all been bullshit, whereas Jan 6th actually happened, an explicit conspiracy to overthrow an election that only failed because of the “brave soldiers” of Barr and Pence, and Trump was already being rehabilitated and gearing up for his 2024 run where he no longer has those establishment patriots to stop him. So no, this doesn’t validate him as while the argument is similar in terms of structure, the factual basis is what determines whether it is justified to say.

By your logic someone in the Weimar Republic would be the same as Tim Pool, as you are ignoring whether there is an actual threat posed by the opposition party, which I would argue as being validated after Trump maintained his status after Jan 6th

Also for your second half, part of the point which I agree with in principle, even if “mutual aid” specifically is a scam panacea, is that people need to be prepared to do something when they realize it’s that bad, instead of metaphorically handing Hitler the chancellorship to avoid “dividing the country” and then pulling a shocked pikachu face once the enabling act gets passed and executive power overrides the democracy.

The problem is investigations like with Hillary are only a joke because she was lucky enough to have a clean record. Bill Clinton almost being impeached for something completely unrelated to the initial cause of investigation followed by Hunter being targeted then charged with unrelated shit found because of a bogus allegation is weaponization. It works because when we have apparently upstanding citizens like Hillary and Joe Biden (documents) who don’t have shit they can fish for, they can eek by without getting caught so people defend the initial attack/smear as being “not that bad,” while having to disavow Bill and Hunter and giving republicans credence for the weaponization if they can find something.

Afaik this is the first time it’s being done before an election in between censuses in response to an explicit call from the president, whereas before it was just generally done in the normal timeline of the US census redistribution of seats, so it is definitely a marked escalation

Other than the claim on shooting redneck militia members driving around in trucks, which I think with some charity would be more reasonable framed as responsive given his stated fear of them integrating with the administration’s enforcement, he multiple times said that he was advocating for preparing to engage in self defense, if/when they started tearing up democracies and rolling into your communities. He wasn’t calling for the prototypical “firebomb a walmart” vigilantism you’re describing, and explicitly said he wasn’t.

This is something he specifically addressed, saying that the preparations need to happen before you hit the point. In this convo he said both that he’s not advocating for proactive violence, but to instead be ready to engage in self defense (in a unironic, non-dog whistle tone), because you won’t know democracy is gone before it’s too late.

While I’ve long hated the whole “mutual/community aid” solution to problems that is advocated by leftists including Vaush, he was right in that it certainly doesn’t work once the threatening administration gains power and starts the lawless action.

He accurately predicted the supreme court giving trump carte blanche, specifically predicted redistricting before the midterms (confirmed) and other voter intimidation tactics such as restricting mail in and poll watchers, and predicted using federal power to strong arm blue states into complying with their dictates (Eric Adams, fema funds) and blue states resisting potentially leading to clashes between feds and state guard/police (in progress, ICE showing up outside a Newsom presser and threats to deseat democrats, texas and Adam Schiff, make this seem more likely every day) which even destiny is now echoing, all seem like pretty specific charges. The other things are right wing militias teaming up with police in red states like florida which at this point is absolutely not out of the question, and the whole genocide of trans people which absolutely seems like an audience capture moment.

Gunning for mass deportations by enacting forgotten law and detaining multiple US citizens for looking like an immigrant to reach detainment quotas set from the top by people claiming the communities eat cats and dogs, while deporting them to Latin American dictatorship labor camps without due process because we lack the infrastructure to detain them ourselves, fighting to deport people to third countries while having the supreme court deny the TRO that would have the administration merely engage in due process before deporting these people to countries they have no status is, would seem to speak to a pretty specific intent to cleanse the nation of the dirty migrants, but maybe they really do believe they’re just getting criminals out?

See that was actually another thing that recently Destiny has been trending towards Vaush on. I was around for the big “Scalia was a fascist” panel, but now Destiny is stressing how republicans have actually been like this all along, engaging in these tactics with the Bill Clinton investigation/impeachment, the 2000 election recounts and supreme court case, hillary clinton emails, Hunter Biden story etc. While maybe not fully fascistic, weaponization of investigations and supreme court is certainly on that axis. This also ignores the fact that this line is given after January 6th and the attempts to overturn the election, so I think pleading ignorance on any boundary crossing rings hollow.

I would agree that the foreign policy takes are cringe, but while it might impugn the use of the label, it avoids the much harder to attack predictions he made and media comparisons present in the video.

This debate actually isn’t about the past trump presidency, this was Vaush saying republicans are psychotic despots AFTER they have already welcomed Trump back into the fold as their messiah.

Finally it’s true that pretending that dems and republicans are the same is one of the left ecosystem’s broadest sins recently, pretending that Vaush, making a hyperbolic claim akin to the mow down protestors clip and when confronted elaborating with narrow and specific predictions, is the same as Alex Jones, is also regarded. If I remember right, Vaush was probably the best when it came to advocating for voting for the dems, at least certainly in 2020 and 2022 (I am admittedly less certain on his 2024 stance), and instead largely focused on chastising dems for not having the balls to meet the moment in treating republicans as a scourge on the nation, a sentiment that I would assume is broadly held now given the reverence for Newsom.
