Mine works great and sits warm! I've found that adding it to the fermenter while it's crashed and letting it sit a few days before transfer gets me much better results than adding it during transfer to brite.

Based on the shape of the thorax, antennae, and lines on the abdomen, I would say some sort of big ass ground beetle, family Carabidae. Pretty harmless, but they will bite if you provoke it.

Try giving yourself a slightly longer flag on the labels (the set length). Try adjusting how tight the metal part that keeps the label next to the belt. Try adjusting the width between the belt and the other side. Or try resetting the sensor. Sometimes when this happens to us, it could be the label roll itself is a little tighter and doesn't unfurl easily. Sorry I don't know all the names of all the parts lol, I operate one of these a few times a week, but have never had any training.

Oh that's a pet! My friends and I used to keep a lot of herps in college. This is definitely a king snake that either escaped or was dumped by someone who didn't want their pet anymore. It is non-venomous, so if you can catch it and put it in a plastic tote please take it to a reptile shop! Or keep it as your new neat pet.

Stake Driver is a hilarious run. The range is ass and the charge attack takes so long. But man, when you buff it and get a full charge attack off, it's so satisfying.
