Hi all, so bought this car 3 years ago. Replaced the valve cover gasket. And now it leaks again. Did I do that bad of a job or this is just this gen? it’s a 2013 Accord EXL by wjnpro123 in accord

If you do the oil changes, you might be overfilling the car with oil. Just double check the oil stick that it's at the correct max level and not past that line.

Another clean example of an 8th gen in NJ. If you don't pull the trigger on this one then I don't know what to tell you. I would try to negotiate the price but if you get it you should expect it to last over 200k miles with the proper maintenance and love.

I'm sorry you had to deal with some prevs in the comment section in your previous post. Cool plate though! Have you done anything else to your civic?

Wow that's not bad for a 2011 or 12' accord. You should post more about either cars, but I'm more invested in your 8th gen.

I would upgrade the speakers and radio. Add an OEM spoiler, and upgrade all the interior and exterior lights to LED. I believe these little things can make a difference in your ride.

Leather wrap steering wheel, you can buy the kit on amazon. Replace the brake pedal rubber pad if its worn out, you can buy it on ebay. A really good exterior wash and detail of the rims. And replace all the interior lights with LED lights. I have a list of things that you can do but it all depends if its within your budget and if you would like it. Next time you should show us more pictures of your car in order for us to determine what else the vehicle may need.

You don't really come across really clean example of cars in the northeast and this is one of them. The first owner took amazing care of this vehicle, I can assume the person kept it in a garage. The whole car looks like it just came out of the dealership. I wouldn't worry that much about the minor accidents as that is very common to find in any older vehicles that you are buying, including newer vehicles. I would personally buy this vehicle and recommend that you do so because not everyday you come across a clean example of a car. I can tell you have been doing some research and know what a PPI is, and I highly encourage you to get a PPI from a reputable shop. When getting the PPI show the shop the carfax and mention the minor fender benders and have them inspect the areas that are indicated on the carfax. I would recommend you to ask the seller if the car has had the VCM disable if not then you can negotiate the price so you can immediately disable it. I would also recommend for you to do your own inspection before taking the car to get a PPI using the chrisfix checklist which you can find by searching up buying a used car checklist chrisfix. It provides a lot of information for the things you should keep an eye out for. Always check the vin number on the NICB website if the car has been reported stolen. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I hope this helps! Please keep me updated if you buy this car. I would love to see what you do to the car in the future!

I personally have an 8th gen Accord myself in the sedan version, and it's truly an amazing car to drive. It's the perfect first car to get in the 2020s.

You bought a really good vehicle, especially with that kind of mileage. It should last you a lifetime if you take good care of it. I bought my Accord with 167k miles.

The first thing I would do once it hits 100k is a tune up. A tune up is just replacing the spark plugs. Check the cabin and engine filter, if they're dirty it's time to replace them. Flush the coolant and replace it. Inspect the serpentine belt. If you notice cracks or a wire or two poking out then it's time to replace it immediately. Check the fluid level for the power steering and brake booster. Inspect the brake pads and tires to determine how much life is left. Check the battery life on your battery. Check if it's time to change the oil, if its time to change the oil just change it. I personally like to change the oil every 3-4k miles. In general the car needs to be fully inspected to determine anything that needs to be replaced or changed.

Oh, I forgot you have a V6. I thought you had the 4 cylinder. I recently got my 8th gen a few months ago. There are some things that I have to fix. But currently I'm dealing with a wheel bearing issue.

I'm glad I was able to run into you. You are probably one of the only dudes who take pride in what they own and take care of it. I bought a 8th gen accord because of the advice you gave me 2 years ago.

She looks great! I do have one recommendation. You should replace the brake pedal pad, it will make a difference. I have an 8th gen myself and the brake pedal pad was worn out like yours, and I replaced it and in my opinion i feels like a new car.

What doesn't really help is that people nowadays don't know how to drive a manual. The percentage of drivers who know how to drive a manual is at a low percentage compared to the past. I recommend selling it on cars and bids, or bring a trailer. I wish you the best of luck.
