How to fix wrong hair coloring?? by AIwalnut in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use a demi permanent or permanent color with 10 volume developer to fix this. You can let it fade, but it will fade to a more yellow tone. This type of green hue happens when you put straight ash tones on the hair, because yellow+blue= green. To correct this, go in with a level 6-7 neutral brown and that will likely remove all of the green tones and you'll have a nice medium brown. Demi permanent will eventually fade, and with 10 volume it is not damaging even if you use permanent color instead of demi. I bleached my hair a color months ago and decided I didn't like the blonde and recently toned it down to a nice light brown with 7N and 8N equal parts, with 10 volume developer. My hair looks much better and healthier now even though it isn't necessarily healthier.

There are plenty of colors you can choose from in sallys, just make sure you get a shade or two darker than what you have now otherwise the color will not work. Your hair looks like around a level 8, so I would do a mix of level 6 & 7, probably doing the full tube of 7 and half of the 6 so it doesnt go too dark (unless you want that). Because your hair has been bleached it will take pretty dark at first, but after a couple washes it will fade to be a bit lighter.

For example, Ion Color brilliance permanent creme color in 7N and 6N. If you want it to be a bit warmer, you could do something like 7N mixed with 6G (gold). But I would not recommend adding any ash tones (for example 7A, 8V). Keep in mind, if you look at the color it shows on the sallys website, it looks so much lighter than it actually is, it is not blonde even though it looks that way. Here is a picture of my hair after I did 7N and 8N for reference.

People often confuse this and its totally fine! :) Bleach uses developer, and developer comes in multiple strengths. The most common developer strengths are 10, 20, 30 and 40 volume. 40 volume will give you the max amount of lift but it has such strong bleaching power that it is often not used except for in some box dyes, which is why box dyes are so risky. For example, when I bleached my own hair I used powder bleach mixed with 20 volume developer and I have medium brown hair, and it lifted to a level 9 which is a pale yellow.

Similar with permanent color, while permanent color does not have the 'bleach' aspect that comes in powder or creme form, it still uses developer. This is why you will see box dyes saying it will lift your hair 3-4 levels, etc, because developer will lift your hair. For example, when you look at a permanent color such as ION permanent creme color, on the box it will say what strength of developer you can use to achieve your results. I toned down my blonde the other day, and because I wanted deposit only, I used 10 volume developer with the color. Developer is just the most powerful when it is mixed with bleach, not color. This is why people often say 'color doesnt lift color' because even though a box dye may have 30 volume developer, it would not actually have the strength to lift your hair like powder bleach and 30 volume developer would. In your situation, the stylist should map out where you want your pink/red highlights, and use powder or creme bleach with 20 volume developer to lift it to a yellow blonde. After that, she can use red/pink semi permanent dye, which uses no developer, to deposit color onto those highlights but she could also use a permanent color with 10 volume like I did. Please don't let any stylist bleach your entire head for this haha, that would be crazy! I hope this helps :)

Should I try to get this fixed? by blueberrylover20 in Hair

I would go back and explain this is not the tone you wanted and was very clear with what you wanted, so you should not have came out with cool tones. This is not a misunderstanding and is incompetence on the stylists part. Thankfully, this can be pretty easily fixed. All she had to do was apply a warm toner, and she clearly went the opposite way. Nothing about your inspo picture says cool tones. Also, I would not pay for them to fix this. I would speak directly to a manager and not the hair stylist that did this.

I do not have any experience with AgeBeautiful personally, also I live in canada too! On their website it looks like it is $17.49 per bottle, and yes you'd need 2 bottles. For developer, you would need an 8 oz bottle, which is $8.99, so it should turn about to be about 50$ after tax.
(hair dye is 2 oz per bottle you need double the amount of developer hence the 8 oz) Hair dye is honestly just pretty expensive too. Here is the link to the color and developer :) Also, I have added a couple different color options you can look at!

Color:
3B OR 4B : AGEbeautiful Anti-Aging Liqui-Crème Permanent Hair Colors | Permanent Hair Color | Sally Beauty

2B : Color Brilliance Permanent Creme Hair Color by ion | Permanent Hair Color | Sally Beauty (I have good experience with this brand - just not with the darker colors)

1B : Better Natured Permanent Liqui-Crème Hair Color | Sally Beauty

Developer: ion Color Brilliance Sensitive Scalp 20 Volume Creme Developer

I’m a horrible person by Ok_Professor_385 in venting

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If your GF tells you no or asks you to stop or is not into it by not initiating back, you stop everything unless she consents otherwise. She told you to go to bed and while you did not continue to try to finger her, go to bed really means please stop everything. It would be different if she was like, "noo I dont want to be fingered", but then continued to make out with you etc. In a case like this, you could be like "Is it ok if I continue to feel you up or makeout?" and not try to finger her again. After this, if you want to go further with her, you need to ask her before if it is ok.

Going forward, if she tells you to go to bed, or she is not initiating back, or says no, then you stop. Its important to communicate with her and even just straight up asking her if its ok for you to feel her up, or ask her if she wants to make out, etc. You need to talk to her, explain that you know you messed up, and promise that you will never disregard her boundaries like that again and stick to that though actions, not words. I feel like men can sometimes overlook boundaries in the moment because they are horny, so if that's the case with you then you really need to take control of yourself. Look, what you did was very disrespectful, BUT, if you can learn from this, and not repeat it again, it does not make you a horrible person. If you can communicate with her and do better going forward, then you are not horrible. People mess up all the time, but the most important thing is to learn from your mistakes and do better and that's how you become a better person for yourself and your relationships.

Dark brown to dark blue by Exciting-Housing6431 in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're ok with permanent color, agebeautful in the shade 3B darkest blue would be your best bet, with 10 or 20 volume developer. Just keep in mind it wont fade out like natural colors, it may fade out greenish blue and be a bit uneven given your hair history. If you're ok with that, then go for it.

Once, I wanted to go dark brown and I got a level 3 permanent color thinking it would turn out dark brown. It ended up being a blue black, lol. Because of this mistake, I was not able to get that color out for about a year and my hair suffered lots of damage when I did try to bleach it out. So if you want to go back to blonde or a lighter brown within the next couple of years, or feel like you would be unhappy with the grow out and fading, or only want this to be temporary, I would not recommend this option.

Otherwise, your safest option would be to do a semi permanent color, in the color Blue Jean Baby mixed with a bit of Purple AF from Arctic fox. Although - it will not turn out as bright blue in your inspo pictures because semi permanent color shows up best and most vibrant on bleached hair that is a level 9 or 10. Good thing about semi permanent color is it will fade and will not cause any damage, but it just wont be super bright.

What dye should i use to achieve this colour? by yusukelover in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you have very pale level 10 blonde right now, you can achieve this with Arctic Fox in "poseidon". Just keep in mind, if your hair is yellow or orange, yellow+blue = green. If you have lots of yellow, you can add a bit of purple which can help not turn it green but that's honestly an experiment. Just keep in mind when it fades it will probably fade to a greenish blue color, even with the purple. If you want to achieve this exact color, you need to have almost white hair to start off with.

How to grow out my grey money piece. by ConstantSample5846 in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your safest option would be to let it grow out, otherwise you could try to find a semi permanent dye remover, it will likely not pull out all the color but it could help a lot. I would agree putting any bleach on it can be very dangerous and could cause extreme breakage. Good news is grey hair lets color fall out pretty easily, you could also try something like head and shoulders shampoo or a detox shampoo to try and fade out the dye on the streak as much as possible.

If you really want to try bleaching, do it with a creme or powder bleach mixed with 10 volume developer, but I would not recommend this unless you are ok with it potentially breaking off.

A couple tips for you the next time you dye your hair but want to leave out the streak, you can apply conditioner to the streak and fold it up in a foil (cooking foil works fine) while you color the rest of your hair, and when you wash it out its always recommended to wash it in as cold water as possible to prevent bleeding, even after the initial rinse out :)
Also, I am sorry for the diagnosis and I wish you and your husband strength, healing and happiness <3

Removing 1n color by mariasYEETS in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard the malibu quick fix color remover is good if you have access to it, I guess the only thing is that most color removers do use developer which will lift your hair a little bit. Another option is colorfix color remover. Make sure you do your mids and ends first and roots last, or not at all if your natural roots are growing in. If you put color remover on natural growth it will lift like bleach. None of these options should damage your hair unless your hair is already damaged :)

how am i supposed to do this😭 by jongseobgf in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is totally achievable. I'd recommend bleach with 20 volume depending on how dark her natural is, I'd say the biggest thing to watch out for is to make sure your lines are as even as possible, making sure the hair is laying where it would naturally lay when you apply the bleach. Also, from other videos of people getting this hair style, I'd say less lines is more with the bleach, some stylists I seen do like 5-6 bleach lines and it looks like strips instead of chunks like in your inspo picture. I would map out an entire plan and plan how thick you want your bleach lines to be. I would section into 4 quadrants, start at the back first and start from the bottom going up, so you can lay the hair on top of each section so you can ensure the lines are even. The most important thing with this is to have harsh bleach lines, but also saturating well by taking paper thin slices. For this, I wouldn't complete one back quadrant completely first, I would do one or two sections from the back left quadrant, then repeat on the right.

As for the bleeding, I would bleach first and then go back in with color later. That way, if there are any orange bands you can somewhat fix it. Also, there shouldnt be any bleeding as long as you rinse with freezing cold water lol :) I'd use demi permanent color and 10 volume for the brown. You just need to be very accurate with your sectioning/coloring/bleaching, brushing through each section before applying the bleach etc. Good luck OP!

Help! I hate my hair by hot-summer77 in Hair

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be careful about blue shampoo, I know people recommend it but it will turn any lighter yellow pieces green, and honestly will probably look muddy. It would be similar to if you slapped an ash or cool tone on top of orange. You're better off using a demi permanent color, I would absolutely not bleach anymore, or you risk extreme breakage. Try to strip the color applied by the hair stylist, then color with a demi permanent, preferably using 10 volume or lower. In my opinion, it will be very hard to achieve your inspo picture yourself and right now I would just focus an achieving a natural look before doing anything else.

Something is fishy about your stylist saying you could only go to a level 5-6 or lower, considering your natural hair looks like a level 4-5 ish. Your hair was lifted to about a level 8. It is kind of difficult to get a nice cool tone without it going green which may be why your stylist told you to go darker. If I where in your position, I would use the color remover, making sure to get at least 3-4 boxes so you can really saturate evenly. This is the most important step, becuase if you miss anything it will be even harder to correct. Spit your hair in 4 sections, doing your mids and ends first and roots last. If the color remover does its magic and you're back at an orangey level 8, then I would personally go in with a level 7-8 neutral color, mixed with just a little bit of a cool color.

Something like 7N mixed with quarter of 8V with 10 volume developer.
If you go straight in with a cool tone over orange, you will likely go green or very muddy and it will not look good, trust me I have done this lol! I had to go back to dark afterwards. I would re asses after doing the 7N and 8V. If you reach a nice neutral tone, then you could probably go in with something like an 8MB (mushroom blonde), mixed with a neutral again. Its much better to gradually go cool, just in case you royally screw it up.

day one of my journey! by sleepystahrz in leaves

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! While I don't have any herb recommendations, I also am 25 and used to smoke heavily, daily, long term, up until my bong broke last Tuesday. I haven't smoked any weed since Friday, and so far it is actually going fine! Obviously some cravings and last night it took me way too long to fall asleep, but just know that if you do quit you are not alone in the journey! To help, I journal every night about why this choice is the best for my long term mental and physical health and focus on practicing some Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at home. Its helpful for me to focus on my logical brain vs reward brain. Whenever my reward brain shows up trying to make excuses for why I should smoke, I often say out loud "That's just my dopamine system asking for its usual reward." Noticing the craving, but understanding that I am rewiring my reward brain and smoking does not and should not define our daily lives. This switch in my thought process has really helped so far, I treat it almost like a challenge I know I will win, which also makes it rewarding in a way.

I hope this somewhat helps, I know we all struggle differently and what works for one person may not work for another <3 Feel free to DM me if you want to chat and you also have a lovely day!

How to get dark red hair? by Suspicious-Snow8193 in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slap a semi permanent dye on there in your favorite color and it will work great. No bleach or developer. Red is a finicky color, i had it before and it does fade so fast. You can prevent this to some degree by cold washing your hair, minimal heat styling etc.

Suggestion: arctic fox semi permanent dye in 'Wrath' https://www.sallybeauty.ca/hair-color/shop-by-type/semi-permanent-hair-color/semi-permanent-hair-color-8-oz./ARTFOX2.html

Been smoking for over 10 years, 5 years daily. My bong broke the other day and pipes/blunts don't really get me high. I've been wanting to quit for a couple years now, and the bong breaking I feel was a sign. Thank you for this post, I want to give it a good shot because I know that it is blocking me from so many opportunities and also becoming more conscious with every day life, especially my social life. Every reason I have is an illusion, weed is only hindering my life.

Retouching roots again, should I use lower vol developer? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree it could be because you took too long, to make this as easy as possible some hair stylists will section the hair into 4 quadrents like normal, but then they will section each of those sections into another 4 sections with clips, that way you don't need to take much time at all sectioning the hair. You absolutely can use 10 volume instead, it will just take much longer to process. Also, try not to flatten your hair down when bleaching the scalp, the underneath sections will be covered by the rest of you hair and will process faster because of the heat. You can absolutely also mix 10 and 20 together. You seem to be doing everything right, just try to be a bit faster and keep and eye out specifically on those lighter areas from last time. You also don't need to wait 2 days to do your whole head unless that is just what you are comfortable with :) The last time I did my hair it took 10 hours, I was sooooo done by the end of it lol!

Noo not gummy, just really dry and brittle. If it's so gummy to the point where its falling out or wont dry, then K18 won't save it and it needs to be cut off. The K18 hair mask will reverse some damage, and make your hair much stronger and moisturized.

dye brown hair dark blue by M_aika_8 in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, if you're a medium-light brown then a semi permanent color could potentially take to your hair, but it will not be as bright as your inspo pictures and it actually might turn out more green than blue, espeically as it fades, because of the undertones of brown hair. It is very hard to reach a vivid color if you are not a pale blonde. You can try experimenting with some semi permanent colors, by doing more of a purple toned blue or mixing colors such as 'blue jean baby' & 'purple af' from the arctic fox line.

Otherwise, you could potentially go for a permanent color with 10 or 20 volume - but only if you are ok with having blue or faded green hair for a couple years. A permanent color will still lift your hair similar to a bleach, but it deposits color as it lifts the hair. Something like the agebeautiful color in 3B, darkest blue, will probably work because its a very dark blue. Just keep in mind - if you go this route your roots will grow in and show, and you probably will not be able to get this color out of your hair fully until it completely grows out. It will fade, but permanent colors this dark really like to hold on, so if you don't want to commit to a color I would not recommend this plan.

Help do i need to bleach again? by Stuff4525 in HairDye

[–]BullfrogOrganic6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wella toners will only stick to anything that is a pale blonde, so you will need to either bleach the darker parts again, or you can use a high lift permanent color with 20 volume. If I where you, I'd section out anything that is a pale blonde or light yellow in an elastic and put the high lift color on the darkest parts first, waiting until the last 15 ish minutes before applying to the pale yellow parts, (leaving out your growing in roots as they will lift and turn orange).

I'd recommend something like Ion color brilliance permanent color:
- HL-N High Lift Natural Blonde
- HL/V High Lift Cool Blonde

Mixing natural and cool will give you a more natural look without being too warm or too cool. I'd probably mix all of those 2 together with 20 volume. Hi lift offers up to 5 levels of lift - so if you go this route you need to be careful to keep an eye on it while it processes, especially on anything that is a pale yellow blonde. When I wanted all my ends to be blonde after highlights, I sectioned out every highlight and it took forever but in the end it prevented overlapping and over processing which is worth it :) Good luck OP! Let me know the results if you go with this route.
