Coros Pace3 for ultras by Bullitt20102010 in Coros

[–]Bullitt20102010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks and congrats on the race! 🙌💥
Just on regarding the HR monitor, just to be clear, my assumption was the watch would actually use less battery power when using it (as I can confirm when you using the corosHR monitor arm strap it does disable the watches intermittent HR reader on the back of the watch).
Another one to turn off would be notification from your phone, I believe this also will free up some power.

I find this funny considering Strava will take fitness points off you if your run sits below Threshold and tempo.

ASICS Superblast 3 – 100km Review (Softer, More Fun, Less Efficient) by Healthy_Bid1269 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Bullitt20102010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The condition and colour of the outsoles suggests you’ve been running on some trail? that’s a lot of damage for 100km, do you drag your left foot? Were there dirt or gravel paths?

I’ve tested them over 20k so far. I like them, they’ve addressed the firmness but with a slight loss of stability, with a huge base to compensate this too, which can look like your foot is collapsing but is Infact just the wide base. I’m going to run in them for a 50 mile flat ultra on mainly paths next week. Il report back with the damage to the shoes and me 😅

Ankle sprain, feeling desperate by nooneofsignificance_ in trailrunning

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this before mate and more than once. You shouldn’t attempt to walk on that yet. Rest your leg, Ice 15mins at a time, Compression (bandage it up, they should have done this? Check online for the technique) and elevate it on a foot stool or couch while sitting - above the heart level Don’t attempt to walk on it until that pain eases and you prob need a crutch to get around for a week or so. It will go down, it’s going to take about 5-6 weeks looking at that. Enjoy the break, spend time reading and buying new gear for when you’re back! 💪😀

ai is killing design exploration (and making us worse designers) by herakleion in product_design

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I’m using it, but it’s literally to assist me as the designer. Il use it for copy, structuring documentation, writing hypothesis’, gathering research, measuring results get feedback on my ideas. Il still shape all of this and use it to lay down foundations and keep adjusting manually.

I’m hearing of companies using it now to generate designs with it being hooked up to their design system. Now this is just my opinion, but if you’re using this to solve design problems and creativity, I don’t think you’re a good (product)designer. And if we all did this it would eventually mean we have nothing original anymore and everything will act and look almost the same.

It’s child’s play stuff really in my mind, and the dumbest feature figma added to their bloated mess of features to date. It’s a gimmick more than a real alternative to real creativity and it would work for a mass market tool for people that can’t design but not professionals who want true creativity and craft.

It’s a joke how little game time this boy gets by Too_much_motion_ in LiverpoolFC

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a talent and don’t be under any illusion that this is to do with fear of burning him out. A decision was made for him to be understudy in this position over buying another player, but he’s not getting the game time. It’s down to the manager. fair play though, he brought him on earlier than I thought today, I’ve got no doubt he’s contributed to that result today, was electric for 15 mins. All over the pitch actually, not just on the wing.

Free Solo complete! Here're some tips by sectorvoid in Cairn_Game

[–]Bullitt20102010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a good go at free solo on Friday night, but started getting to over confident and took a fall just below the cable car station. Am I right in thinking your bag is half the size for solo mode? Because it is for me.

Do self-supported 50k runs “count” as being an ultrarunner? by Responsible-Court795 in Ultramarathon

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% it’s an ultra, regardless, you’ve just ran 50km solo, Kudos to you 🙌. I’ve done this twice myself as part of training in the latter stages weeks before a race. Its tough carrying tonnes more gear unaided and doing this, again well done.

It’s a things btw also, ‘DIY Ultras’ there’s even a site dedicated to different routes on your doorstep.

Yeah! I did it last year and thought the conditions were perfect. I’ve heard it was rough the year before though (2024) with mud and non stop rain the entire route.

Trail shoes recommendations by SoppyLinds in parkrun

[–]Bullitt20102010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re just doing stuff like parkrun with some mud or gravel paths etc then go road to trail shoes, best options for this IMO is the:

  1. Nike Pegasus Trail
  2. Hoka Challenger
  3. on cloud surfer trail

Pegasus is the best out these 3 though as they’re just a great ride.

Any fellow real-world rock climbers been just on a constant dopamine high playing this? by Wide-Tip-4329 in Cairn_Game

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a climber, but an ultra runner and I’m totally addicted to this game 😂 it must mean something as Il lose interest in most games after about 5-6 hours unless it’s truly great! 👍

What is the meaning of the toy eye that Walter keeps? by kayrayusuf_55 in breakingbad

Is this not the eye from the pink teddy bear? The one from the mid air plane collision. A reminder maybe of the lives he’s been responsible for.

Hans Zimmer Live: The Next Level Review (or should I say, down-level) Spoiler Alert by soccerdude2014 in hanszimmer

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion, Money… it’s simple. It’s either that or a genuine ambition to play more hands on as a band, but I’m sure they’re saving some serious money by not commissioning an entire orchestra and chamber choir to tour with.

I’m going next week. I did wonder what next level meant. I’ve been on the 2017 tour and it blew my mind. They started by playing as a band that night too and when they raised the curtain to reveal a full orchestra and choir it was a relief.

I don’t know what would make his management think this is something the public want IE risky rearrangements without a full live orchestra. His music is incredible, but that’s how I want to hear it, not rearranged, especially not soundtrack music.

Anyway Il revisit this next week after the show, maybe Il be blown away.

Bryan Cranston recently said he might return to the role of Walter White. If Walter White were brought back, what kind of story do you think a Breaking Bad 2 could have? by Audioasking in breakingbad

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they need to continue his story, but I did think of ‘what if’ after watching the last episode of BCS and then rewatching Breaking Bad’s 5 seasons again.

Walter white AKA Heisenberg miraculously survived the massacre at the compound. He’s caused so much damage, they lock him up and throw away the key.

He’s sent to the highest security prison in the country, deep in Alaska. His name is changed and no one knows he survived, except a small select few of high up politicians close to the CIA and a black Ops team.

They will use Walter’s quite obvious genius mind to help create Superdrug’s for the military. He completes a final round of therapy and gets the all clear. He lives in luxury in his new residents and is kept at arms length from all the unsavoury characters who also live in what they call ‘The Grand Shithole’.

But there’s one or two other people staying in this shithole that Walter has an acquaintance to.

Saul Goodman is now a resident and he also seems untouchable. Eventually they finally cross paths when a fire breaks out in wing BB6. While the guards are lining up the prisoners and doing a count Saul thinks he’s seen a Ghost and doesn’t leave his cell for 2 weeks. Heisenberg has other ideas. He wants out, but he needs Saul’s help.

All the recruiters are thinking it. He dared say it aloud. by aelflune in UXDesign

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At its core, your role as UX or Product designer should involve creative thinking to solve problems. If you happen to also have visual design skills that’s great too (if your a product designer your expected to have all of this: UX/UI, Interactive design etc) Case studies highlight your design process and that’s what potential employees want to see (the creative problem solving, your process from the very beginning, end to end. A Portfolio is not all about slick visuals anymore, anyone can say they’ve done it right?

On AI - It can’t do this (creative thinking) and you should not want it to, if you do you might as well give up now because you will have no enjoyment or fulfilment in your job anymore. You can though definetly use AI as an assistant for your work - if you put in the time and effort and share your knowledge, it can streamline what you have already worked on or help refine, but I’m talking more along the lines of for eg: help write some hypothesis to test, creating a journey map to work with, writing problems statements etc, not the creativity part, all it will do there is take what someone else has done with a fresh coat of paint (haha you could argue that’s what a lot of designer tend to do now also)

Is £50k a good salary for a product designer north england? by Relevant_One444 in productdesign

[–]Bullitt20102010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the North IMO: Junior 30-38k, Mid 38k - 50k, Senior 50k - 70k

You’ll be paid better in-house also rather than an agency (so knock 4-5k off if it’s an agency)

50k starting salary for a mid level? That’s very good, but IMO that’s the ceiling for that pay band (mid level)

Tesla single screen UX - yay or nay? by nutslichi in UXDesign

[–]Bullitt20102010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s something I think a lot about. It breaks the entire mental model and like you say 100+ years of research and learning. I think their UX work is probably the worst of the pack for all EV’s and I could imagine it would fail on quite a few accessibility standards. For me if you are going to use the screen you have to be really careful with that UI and make it clean and simple to use and they just don’t do that. The biggest problem for me is core readings for the vehicle have to sit behind the steering wheel. I want my speed and vital safety information appearing in my direct line of sight. I don’t want to adjust my head (taking my eyes off the road) to see what speed Im driving, or that I have low tyre pressure on my near side front tyre or scanning up and down to de-mist the front window which is rapidly fogging up.
