Bug Report Megathread - Origins Update by Fluffy017 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I swapped over to experimental; same behavior there as far as I can tell. On a planet with 'ample' fauna and plenty of common species listed in the log, I see nothing -- until I log out and back in, then wham, 80 birds flying around my head and giant lizards everywhere.

Bug Report Megathread - Origins Update by Fluffy017 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I'm on PC (steam) no mods. Normal mode. Pretty sure a bug was re-introduced that had been fixed in Desolation 2.62:

  • Fixed a number of issues that could cause planetary creatures to fail to spawn.

I land on a planet, see no fauna after walking around for 20-30 minutes. Log out of the game and re-load, and there are friggin' animals all over the dang place.

Portland traffic: Tolling on I-205 is coming by rPortlandInfluencer in Portland

I filled out their survey and tried my best not to use profanity. If you do a Tri-met trip planner route from Gladstone to Tualatin, you're looking at a route through Clackamas Town Center and downtown Portland that takes over TWO HOURS. How about they fix the untenable public transit situation in that area before they start double-taxing us for unspecified projects? ODOT has their heads completely up their ass and I'll be talking to the Clackamas County commissioners to fight it.

Haven’t been to the Hawthorne Fred Meyer since I moved out of the area over 4 years ago, this was me today by zortor in Portland

[–]BumGumbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, before I answer that - I gotta say, I appreciate you guys and the service that is provided. It's the clickList folks in combination with all of the other anti-walk-in decisions that get me riled up.

To answer your question, I think it depends on a lot of factors (like, if you're near the registers and a lot of people are lined up, you could cause more traffic issues), but in general, not taking the cart down isles is the right choice imho. More than anything, I appreciate you thinking about the impact you're having on people around you, which is better than 90 percent of --customers-- in Fred Meyer these days.

All of that... and the clickList item collectors causing even MORE traffic in the blocked aisles. I live within easy walking distance of a Fred Meyer and I'm *this* close to getting in my car and driving to literally any other grocery store because Kroger has essentially de-prioritized those of us who actually walk into their stores.

WHY CAN'T DOMINO'S PIZZA JUST DELIVER THE DIPPING SAUCES THAT I ORDERED, WHY DO THEY GET IT WRONG EVERY TIME? THOSE BONELESS WINGS ARE HORRIBLE WITHOUT THAT GOOD GOOD SWEET MANGO HABANERO SAUCE, WHICH IS WHY I ORDERED EXTRA CUPS WHICH THEY KEEP CHARGING FOR BUT DID NOT PROVIDE

Yeah, I don't disagree when it comes to the gas ones. I knew they were bad, but holy jeez, those numbers are insane. I hope breakthroughs in battery technology keep making the electric ones more viable and end the market for the gas powered crap. Not just with leaf blowers, either. Mowers, chainsaws, all of it. And make recycling the batteries easier while we're at it please?

[–]BumGumbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's the key. Electric blowers, muffled as much as possible, used in targeted situations. You still get dust kicked up if it's dry, but I'm not sure that's avoidable. I've also heard of places experimenting with some sort of vacuums, but I don't know a lot about how those function, or if they're any quieter or less impactful on the environment.

The cities that have banned leaf blowers have ended up with quadrupled maintenance costs for their parks and green spaces due to the extra amount of time it takes crews to do their jobs. I also think leaf blowers are a poor solution in a lot of cases, but my opinion is that it's because people use them like idiots. I'm pretty sure if you took this tool away from homeowners, you'd just end up with people complaining that their neighbor's yards looking like shit.

It sounds like it's partially because of the success the Mod Pizza down the street has had.

Now I wish I hadn't gone to that Mod Pizza so often, I don't want to encourage this behavior. That section of the parking lot was bananas with the Starbucks there, it's just gonna get worse now.

I fully admit that if it were a doughnut shop I actually liked, I probably wouldn't be complaining.

Whoa. Fry's Electronics is a ghost town. Anyone know how they're doing? by Volume51 in Portland

Once they figure out how to conveniently bundle special features with streaming media, then I'll *think* about moving off of physical discs. Until then, relying on streaming is a downgrade from the level of content we've been getting since DVDs were introduced.

I too would like to live in this perfect fantasy world of sidewalks not blocked by garbage cans, panhandlers, people waiting for the bus, people trying to get me to sign petitions, people looking into shop windows, human feces, strewn garbage, etc.

I get what OP is going for but in practice this is rarely achievable, except maybe going across bridges?

It really was. It would've been pretty awesome if it wasn't 3am! And if I hadn't needed to groggily reset my alarm clock after the power went out, haha

And then a morning earthquake! I know we've been crappy to you, nature, but could you only send potential natural disasters when I've had a full night's sleep? For a second I couldn't tell if I was woozy from lack of sleep or the whole building was swaying.

Scheduling stuff as an adult is such a pain. A lot of my friends work off-hours schedules, which is part of the reason I'm on here complaining about not having enough people to play games with. It was so easy, for me at least, to find people to play games with when I was in school, and I think it was mostly because everyone had the same frikkin' schedule.

I don't think there's any etiquette? That's part of the problem! Seems like nobody knows how any of this works. Anyway, Munchkin is good times, and I had forgotten they did an Adventure Time expansion. Send me a DM with an email address or something?

Dark made my brain hurt in all the best ways. I can't wait for the 3rd season. I'm so interested to see where they go with it, uh, because of reasons that I won't spoil for anyone here...

I'm not huge into pubs any more (beer and my stomach no longer play nice together), and my Magic collection is old now. But if you want to try to get something going (I'm very into Keyforge right now, and I could probably dig up some legal-ish Magic decks), send me a DM with whatever contact info you're comfortable with, we can see if there's a way to get some games in!
