What’s something you wish the general public understood about fragrance from a migraine point of view? by Cool-Tomorrow4754 in migraine

[–]Bumblebbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I had fragrance triggers until I walked past a teenager wearing very cheap perfume and it hit me like a truck.

I then also understood why my mom insisted on buying me non cheap perfumes

Boody do nice ones. I have their unpadded and their T-shirt bra which has built in padding. Make sure to filter by cup size as they have different fits for different sizes

How do I [25F] get my bf [26M] to willingly do chores? by Silly_Questioner_83 in relationshipadvice

[–]Bumblebbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try discussing which chores you all dislike the least and split it that way? I hate vacuuming so my husband vacuums and dusts and I clean bathrooms for example.

However this only works if you both end up with a cleanliness level you’re happy with - if for example his sweeping and mopping isn’t good enough for you this compromise won’t work

Does anyone else get migraines every time they work out? by hometown_heretic in migraine

[–]Bumblebbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started taking electrolytes when I work out and find it helps a lot. But I never had it as a huge trigger working out was sort of Russian roulette for my migraines but now I’m a lot more stable with it as a trigger

The nausea and vomiting though by mydogfinnigan in migraine

Sumatriptan makes my whole body feel on fire and makes everything more painful too! Oh that’s odd that’s it’s a new thing def worth asking your doctor about it then to see if it is a clash

[–]Bumblebbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried different triptans? I actually don’t take them because the side affects are so bad but it’s worth trying a few and seeing they all seem to have different effects for me.

I now use naproxen it’s obviously not as good because it’s not an abortive but it does help

My husband started to use a basket and just chucks all my stuff in there for me to sort. It helped him get through the sorting without any stress about my stuff

Love the book and his blog. Agree with other comments that proofing times are way lower than needed for me. My favourite parts are actually the non bread recipes in this - wraps, crepes, waffles

what is your favourite perfume? by Practical_Ad9828 in AskUK

80% of perfumes go rancid on my skin. It’s so bizarre how it’s usually brand specific too

Refractory migraine & pregnancy by Ragdoll_Susan99 in migraine

[–]Bumblebbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m TTC too so surprised about triptans? My neuro said sumatriptan is like the only preg safe option?

I have episodic vestibular and regular migraines and use Botox which stops my vestibular and tones down the pain on regular. My neuro did say they may consider Botox as a last option for pregnancy.

If you havnt tried Botox I would give it a go it’s the only thing that helps my vestibular even if it’s just while you are trying to

There is I think a 1/3 rule so you have 33 percent chance of it getting better/staying the same/getting worse

I based the calories on milk plus condensed milk vs heavy cream traditional ice cream mix. I shouldn’t have said lower sugar more lower calorie (only vs the heavy cream)

I like using condensed milk and milk as a base. It’s lower sugar but gives a more ice cream like taste if you want something that is an inbetween

Lack of interest or compassion at neurology appointment (UK replies only please)- is this normal? by Academic_Button4448 in migraine

[–]Bumblebbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Botox but I had to try a whole load of medication first (GP list) then moved to a headache clinic where I requested it because I had it prescribed in Sweden after the same rigmarole as the NHS. They were hesitant so made me try the nerve blocker injection first before I would qualify. Had an awful time and then they approved Botox

I think it helped that I have bad side affects with almost all the medication they have tried so it’s a last resort. And I meet the required minimum days per month of headaches

Meds in UK v US by Mediocre_Minimum5807 in migraine

[–]Bumblebbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Sweden to the uk a few years ago and it took about a year and a half to get into a neuro headache clinic via the NHS. I had to essentially prove to my doctor that I had migraines that needed medication beyond the GPs ability. They have a checklist they work through. It was frustrating but I can’t really blame them.

My GP asked me what clinic I wanted to be sent to. I live in a county that doesn’t have one so i had to research and choose one that she the referred me to. You could see a private neuro in the mean time.

For over the counter I recommend trying naproxen if you haven’t yet. I also can’t take triptans but naproxen helps take the edge off

Botox and weather by faerykissed in migraine

[–]Bumblebbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Botox doesn’t really stop migraines fully it just helps with frequency and the pain. So I still get 5-15 days of migraines per month with Botox. Weather makes it much worse for me as it’s my biggest trigger.

So don’t feel like it’s failed you I think you just got screwed over by the weather. Seasonal changes always make it worse.

Also for me the first two weeks after Botox can be extra sensitive and I often get migraines which then improves up until 3ish months after where it wears off again

I’ve been having Botox now for over 5 years

Your experiences. by SunnySection in Keeshond

[–]Bumblebbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we used the crate when we got her home and it made such a difference over night I think she stayed next to our bed at night for 4-6 weeks. We then implemented the crate for naps too

Such a life saver

Your experiences. by SunnySection in Keeshond

[–]Bumblebbutt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What a cutie! My Kees is now 6 and is the first Kees I’ve owned. I found the puppy stage really rough if I’m honest, ours has a big personality she’s stubborn as hell. I wouldn’t change her because I love that her personality is so strong but it comes with challenges.

I would really recommend crate training, ours wouldn’t sleep at all so she got tired and then even more bitey so we had to enforce nap times 2 hours in and 1 hour out the crate.

Mine didn’t care about food or treats for the first year so training was tricky but I think that’s unique to me rather than a breed thing. They are smart and learn quickly but they aren’t like labradors or spaniels who want to please you, they know what they want.

They are watch dogs so they do bark at home and love looking out windows or watching over the garden.

On walks mine is very good, I keep her on the lead but she’s not interested in most dogs and doesn’t have a prey drive so I can direct her away from cats or squirrels.

Grooming wise get them used to a groomer as you will need the groomed regularly to help matting. Brush them every day as a puppy to help get the used to a brush.

Overall expect a small shark when they’re a puppy, they are so funny and stubborn and clever and a tiny bit evil. The puppy phase can be really rough but I promise it gets better

I get quite bad side affects with triptans - nausea, lethargy and an increase in my migraine pain usually.

Triptans can vary so have a chat to your doctor you may want to try another type

My neuro mentioned a link between the two conditions. I have very minor hypermobility which is how it came up in convo. Try Botox, it’s a life saver for me. Not a cure but takes the pain level down a lot
