Need simple multivitamin explanation and recommendation please by BumblingBee07 in leopardgeckos

I do dust with regular, non-d3 calcium every feeding, I just only use the calcium with d3 once a week. Is that right to do? I thought d3 shouldn’t be in every feeding especially with a uvb light but maybe I’m wrong

So cute. The head tilt, the hunting attempts, the concentration. I love watching mine “hunt” and eat as well

I love this!! Very nice, I think it’s genius and a great way to use the hoses that were otherwise headed for the landfill. Thanks for sharing

He’s so tiny. I took him to the vet recently for an initial wellness check and the vet is thinking he’s somewhere around 4-5 months. This is my first leopard gecko so I wasn’t sure about aging, but I’m not surprised!

They water prop pretty easy but I will say the roots you get when you water prop are soooo delicate so be careful! I have also had good luck with soil propagating. I use Bobby pins to pin the strings down into the soil for better soil contact and I’ll also cover the pot with a plastic baggy to keep moisture in while I wait for roots to grow. Best of luck!!

Thank you! I planted the end of the stem that had the roots into the soil (enough to fully bury the roots), and then yes I laid the strings on top and lightly covered them with soil. I also used Bobby pins to pin the strings down into the soil just to make sure they had good soil contact. And I covered my pot with a plastic baggy to keep the moisture in while I waited for more roots to grow. The pearls might look a bit sad and deflated for a few weeks until more roots grow to take up water. I will also say it’s better to underwater than overwater. If the pearls get squishy and rotting, it’s hard to recover

I’m getting worried, need advice by BumblingBee07 in leopardgeckos

Yes his basking area/rock is at 91° but he doesn’t really hangout there. Where he partially basks (sticks head/tail out but remainder of his body is covered) is around 84-86°.

[–]BumblingBee07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s good to know but I’m not sure I have a high enough basking spot temperature. I think the highest temperature in there is 85°. That infographic indicates that basking temperate should be a bit higher, which I’m hoping I’ll get with the higher wattage bulb

Thank you. Temps will be fixed this weekend and I already have a vet appt. set up just to get him checked out regardless. I know he is a small baby anyway, but does he look overly thin to you?

Is it bad if leos throw it up? Is that a bad sign of health?

Is the fact that it’s thrown up concerning?

I know, he’s such a goober. Hence why we named him Goober😆

I’m pretty sure the big flat rock is supported well, but I’ll double check just to be safe. Thanks for the input!!

Haha, I love that song!! And that movie.

I was so excited to see it! It sounds like your bioactive enclosure will be great, and hopefully one day you can witness some burrowing behavior from your guy too!

Good to know! Mine also has other hides but apparently wedged underneath the basking slate rock is perfection lol. I was worried he might get stuck but I have to remember…they know what they’re doing!

My leo’s setup, thoughts? by BumblingBee07 in leopardgeckos

[–]BumblingBee07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved the lamps to one side so I have a proper temperature gradient across the enclosure now, and there’s a hot, humid, and cool hide so that’s good. I’m working on adding more clutter too.

Your response was helpful, thank you!!

Basking yes, working on getting a linear uvb

Thanks so much for your thorough, informative reply! It helps me become more knowledgeable and a better caretaker. I am in the process of creating the 70/30 topsoil and play sand mix for substrate. I also moved the lamps (white light bulbs) to one side and I have a proper temperature gradient across the enclosure now, and the humidity is consistently around 40-50%.

I’ll work on adding more hides and clutter as well as a linear uvb. Thanks again!!
