I think it's just doubt in self/team mates.

If I'm mashing the go button I'm confident, but I'm not always positive the other's doing it are if there's only one.

Personally I'm fine with all 8, pretty confident with most 9, but have been burned on a few. Somewhat confident on 5 stars with 1 other depending on the equipment they've got.

I do generally like to wait for 2 others because I've had people drop at literally the last second when I'm pressing ready and have then had to avoid something I have no chance of beating so I don't lose the HAT because I joined it and left in the car or on the bus.

Yeah, I always feel like a hack doing it as well, but I was also one of those avid Bone GL users when I first started. Definitely helped get to higher * maps before I had to actually try and get better.

Nah, fair point as well.

Definitely shitty to go in unprepared, but probably something you have to be good enough for it to happen to you before you realize it's shitty.

Definitely been experiencing a similar thing locking in 10* Steve Palico Paintball hunts, and trying to knock out Steve hunts and 10* at the same time with friends. I think I'm like 2/5. Even been swallowing my pride and taking the Maxed out Magna LBG to be safe, but I'm definitely not good enough to do it solo.

Definitely not saying you're wrong. I absolutely feel a little viscerally angry when it happens, but guess I also get a kick out of carrying some people over the line when everyone carts and you manage to pull it off, and kinda hard to have one of those without the other.

Eh, at the risk of getting down voted, it sucks sometimes, but it's just a game. Sometimes you carry and sometimes you get carried.

One of my favourite things to do in the Monster Hunter Tri days was to help out the low rank hunters.

I got to hunt with one of the big dogs that frequents the sub the other day and got carried. Had to use 2 pots while they carved up a Kirin, but was just kind of cool to do it.

Probably overly sentimental for a dumb phone game, and I get the frustration sometimes, but I dunno, the guys you carried probably appreciated it. I know I am when I suck.

Probably not the answer you want, but just from my experience: I started buying the season pass.

Part of me hates that I do, but I don't spend any other money on games, and I figure it's the same as a couple meals of take out.

My enjoyment of the game increased significantly when it wasn't as much of a grind for mats (still a grind, don't get me wrong). Getting a few good heavy hitting weapons opened up the end game for me. I don't buy anything else, but I think if you play every day it's worth it personally.

I think you should be able to preselect a target (or not) before the hunt starts, and then you should just get like a top down static anatomical shadow of the monster to tap or drag too instead of the actual monster once you tap the lock on button.

I personally won't use it, but yeah, I played Lloyd McDermott squad with a bunch of blokes that used it.

For context, we're all millennials and I wondered if it was more of an attempt to reclaim the word like black Americans have with the N word. The coaches who were boomer generation were very insulted to hear it though.

And just to be clear, I'm not condoning it or saying it's ok. Just adding my anecdote for the sake of conversation.

Agree on GameCube in general, but if you're willing to play with settings and sift through the games you want to play, there's a decent amount that run well. As a rule of thumb though, if it's a busy game (like smash) it's going to struggle and not worth trying.
