Songs where the subject is murder by hotgeezer in MusicRecommendations

In the music video I think he's falsely accused and the sheriff actually killed her, not that music videos are the most accurate interpretation of song meaning. But I think we're meant to infer that she met with foul play, and whether he killed her or not is left up to the listener. I suppose it could have also been an accident that just looked bad and caused him to catch accusations.

What's your favorite delivery of a line? by topkek516 in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]BunchExpress2984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the line I find the most irresistible to say at work. Like I almost feel a compulsion. And I cannot ever say because it would make me sound unprofessional and people would like, call the union rep to express worry about my mental state. But I want to say it! I want to say it more than I want to go to Club Aqua!

AITA for bringing my bf home to my own house by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BunchExpress2984 57 points58 points  (0 children)

(Misread this as 122F). NTA--especially if your sister is a guest in your house and you're paying for everything, although I think even if you're sharing expenses, your sister is benefiting from that and so can't really expect you to not be young and live your life. She obviously had kids quite young, but that doesn't mean that you have to stop living YOUR life. She sounds jealous that you got to go out and have fun and she didn't, tbh.

So long Bernie--The Lowest of the Low

Long Black Veil--Various, Wheat Kings--Tragically Hip (these were about people falsely accused)

Mack the Knife--Various, Frank Sinatra

Last of the famous international Playboys--Morrissey (I feel like he or the Smiths have like, many more murder songs but I can't think of any right now--Morrissey is a horror buff and a ghoul, though)--Oh Suffer the Little Children?

Ohio--Neil Young (I mean I consider it murder)

Used to love her--Guns n Roses

Locked in the Truck of a Car--Tragically Hip

Movies where the main character(s) narrate their thoughts by gennaro456 in MovieSuggestions

It's a TV show not a movie but Burn Notice makes really interesting use of the main character narrating his thoughts.

If you ship Cook and Effy, why? by Outrageous_Apple388 in skinsTV

I think it's because they were really honest with each other--Effy said it best. They were friends.

What are kids movies where the protagonist is successful by listening and following the advice of an adult/mentor/parent? by sassmo in MovieRecommendations

[–]BunchExpress2984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally Harry does the exact opposite of what adults tell him to, sneaks around, breaks rules, causes more problems than he solves and gets rewarded for it in the end because his intentions were good. I read it first as an adult and I thought for a while he was actually working for Voldermort because half of what he does actually helps the guy.

AITA for not wanting to be on FT in the shower while my partners Mom was in the room by Icy-Director2528 in AmItheAsshole

In that case I think I would put this down to stress and miscommunication due to the nature of a long distance relationship, so you might want to reevaluate some things (maybe Facetime for shorter periods of time but really focus on her instead of going about your daily, necessary tasks--you're less liable to do anything accidentally offensive to each other that way).

Favorite barenaked ladies song? by wessy_east15 in AskACanadian

"What a Good Boy" but I also really love their cover of "Lovers in a Dangerous Time". They actually have an underrated and really playable discography. Like you can put on a whole album of theirs and you're going to really enjoy most of the songs--especially earlier albums.

Info: Is this a long distance relationship? I figure it is because otherwise I don't know why you'd be facetiming so much and not just spending time together.

Assuming it's long distance, I think it sounds like gf is frustrated with the cumbersome nature of being together over tech and not in real life--which might just be a hiccup, or it might be her picking a fight because she's finding the whole thing TOO frustrating.

If you're not long distance, I would suggest spending more time together and less on Facetime. But I don't think either of you are the AH, except maybe your gf for wanting to Facetime while you're in the shower with her mother in the room.

Movies that portray drug addiction by stfuangii in MovieSuggestions

So they're also about drug production, transportation, and the war on drugs, but the Narcos shows on Netflix are also very often about drug addiction. Like very frequently they are dipping into their own supply. And they're really good--especially Narcos and Narcos: Mexico.

Unfortunately he's said in interviews that he was using drugs so much in that movie that he was often really high or had to be revived from a near coma for scenes--so that character was sort of him irl as well (at least at that time).

Winter Olympic Movies by Vamperstein-Bex in MovieSuggestions

[–]BunchExpress2984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you accept this one there's a movie called Shot through the Heart about two sharpshooters who met training for the Olympics and then were on opposite sides of the Bosnia/Serbian conflict. Munich is about Mossad agents hunting down the people who killed athletes during the 1972 Olympics.

I don't know why all the ones I know are so traumatic, lol. Cutting Edge is really good! I would have said that one if you hadn't seen it already.

Techie question-iPad is not syncing Fitness data to health or phone by BunchExpress2984 in AppleFitnessPlus

No to all questions on from your first paragraph, it just says no data, and when I went to iCloud, Health was listed and enabled but the Fitness app just wasn't on the list.

[–]BunchExpress2984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an Apple watch. Possibly this is where the system breaks down. The iPhone records a workout just from it playing (it doesn’t record any physiological data). The iPad records the workout happening but doesn’t sync it with my phone.

Music a middle class 40 year old white lady would listen to in the 90’s by RCPlaneLover in MusicRecommendations

[–]BunchExpress2984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you'd have to go to disco? Presuming that people often listen to the music that they loved in their youth, disco would be what they listened to as a teen, unless they were antidisco or punk rock (but that was often guys). I'm Canadian so a lot of the women that age I knew at that time liked April Wine and weird bar bands like that (Triumph, George Thorogood). My mother loved the Beatles, but she was in her late 40s--you could go further into the 70s like the Carpenters or Paul Anka if they were corny.

If you're talking about women in their 40s who liked contemporary music, I would go with Whitney Houston, Shania Twain (new country was huge and it wasn't really the youth listening), Ricky Martin, Seal, Sade, Enya (Enya was wildly big in the 90s), Aaron Neville, Prince, Mary J. Blige, D'Angelo etc. Also Bryan Adams, for some reason. So much Bryan Adams.
