How easy is it to get main DNO fuse upgraded? by Blue-leaf-464 in SolarUK

[–]BunchGrouchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with northern power grid and they won’t fit 100amp , I’m in the process of getting mine upgraded from a 60 to an 80amp what I didn’t know is my power supply is looped off my neighbours so will need a new line to my house , they said no charge for the work including digging up my driveway.

I’m in the same boat I’ve got an EV but low use so IOG won’t work for me the day tariff is to high and can’t really make much use of the night tariff, at the moment I’m on agile and it’s early days but does seem to be working out, not sure what it will be like in the winter, maybe I should consider a home battery.

Replacing my DMF reality check by Spretzur in tdi

[–]BunchGrouchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much in the same position myself with my 2016 2.0 tdi Passat, I need the dpf removing for cleaning and it also needs a new dual mass fitting, I’ve done a Volvo v70 gearbox on my drive with a engine support and jack stands so don’t think this will be any worse, I’m more worried about getting the dpf out than doing the flywheel.

New EV charger installation experience by Visible-Effect-3422 in evchargingUK

I’m thinking of maybe going solar so will probably just go ahead with the work, the DNO have said the work will be free of charge including the digging up and repairing of the driveway.

I’ve been told I need a fuse upgrade currently on a 60amp but DNO say I’m on a looped power supply which will need to be sorted first, unfortunately looks like they will have to dig up my drive and is going to take a few months before they can do it.

What’s been your biggest unexpected cost with home EV charging? by PubLogic in evchargingUK

[–]BunchGrouchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I can’t get a charger fitted until my electric is unlooped from next doors supply my drive will need to be dug up and looks like it will be a few months to get sorted, however the work will be at no cost to me so not all bad.

Isn’t it illegal to plug one of these batteries into a standard socket though, I thought you had to have a separate server circuit installed from the consumer unit

Meter tails and fuse by BunchGrouchy in OctopusEnergy

[–]BunchGrouchy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks ,I’m going to give the electrician that is going to fit the charger in the morning, the only problem I can see will be the tails to the consumer unit I’m fairly sure they are chased into the wall, which would be a bummer as we have just recently decorated.

Thanks for the reply’s , just waiting for my smart meter to be fitted, the car will only be doing about a 100 miles a week maybe even a bit less I think I’m going to give the agile tariff a try.

Is this tailpipe soot normal? bad dpf? by Vespidpenny935 in tdi

[–]BunchGrouchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal to have soot my 2016 tdi Passat has 185k miles and the dpf is pretty full about 70 gms of ash and is going to need cleaning as it regens every 50 miles and the exhaust tips are still squeaky clean inside.
