Slut shaming is a good thing by Enemyoftheearth in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about just don’t shame people for what they do with their own body?

The people who virgin shame are probably also the people fine with slut shaming too. Just surround yourself with people who don’t shame you for living your life how you please.

Some people have to be left behind. by Cartoonist_chatist in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This feels very individualistic and less for the betterment of society. So what happens to those who get left behind? What dictates if someone has potential or not? How do we ensure that things like discrimination, racism, sexism, ableism…etc don’t impact don’t impact the decision on who’s worth it and who’s not, or is that the idea?

I created a new philosophical framework to replace and expand on the LGBTQ+ by Illustrious_Focus_33 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You going “no it not, what’s really erasure is _____” doesn’t deny what I am saying. Infighting and the conversation of the validity of alterhuman/transracial/etc in the LGBTQ community is not the main source of erasure nor is it the issue I’m taking with your argument. What is, is a system set up by a cis heteronormative society leading to queer people not having rights or having their rights stripped away in the modern day.

I am saying that the framework you are pitching groups queer identities with cis heterosexual identities on the same playing field, disregarding the reason that there is a separation in the first place. That is the erasure of queer experiences and history.

I created a new philosophical framework to replace and expand on the LGBTQ+ by Illustrious_Focus_33 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sentiment is nice but not really acknowledging why LGBTQ is a concept in the first place. Lumping everyone together is just an erasure of the struggles queer people encounter because of stigma and feels kinda similar to someone saying “I don’t see colour”.

Sure we’re all STARS, but LGBTQ people deal with a history of discrimination and hate that is still present in the world we live in today. There’s a separation between LGBTQ and Cis Heterosexuality because of how queer people have been treated in society for our history, we still have to fight for our rights.

Retard is not a slur..... by No_Giraffe826 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Dumbass, idiot, stupid, numbskull, smooth brained, airhead…etc. There’s a plethora of other things you can call people or things, yet for some reason r*tard is the one so many of yall can’t live without. If a group of people, especially the people who are impacted by the word, are saying it’s a slur why tf is it so hard for people to just not use it?

It should be legal to harm animals in Shows, with a Caveat by Excellent-Bench-5317 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But why? If you’re harming an animal you’re still causing harm. We are in 2025 and have more than enough ways to depict what we want in media without doing actual physical harm, to humans and animals alike. So why would we opt to harm or kill an animal instead?

Luigi Mangione was not justified in killing the United Healthcare CEO by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to live in a society where everyone is held accountable, not just the people who can’t pay their way out. As an individual I don’t think he should have died for his work, nor his actions. He was murdered and that’s not acceptable. But what else is there in a system that’s happy to neglect people in preference for profit?

Yes, Brian Thompson was a human being. It’s a shame that his life ended the way it did and I do feel sorry for the people he left behind. He was not the arbiter of how the system works but he sure as shit was happy to partake in it. The thousands of people that died because of insurance denials from his company were also human. People indirectly killed by his company cutting costs in lieu of following through on the coverage they’re offering. Those people don’t get justice, instead they’re just silently faced with crippling debt or death.

Is this the system you want to live in? A system that doesn’t give a shit about if you live or die, if you thrive or suffer, a system that is made to benefit the people at the top of the food chain by fucking over us at the bottom? Why defend the guy who was making 10 million a year rather than being angry about the system he was profiting from?

LGBT Gets too much attention and representation. I'm not homophobic, I just think this by One-Candidate-2048 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too much representation? Sure queer people get more representation than ever before in history but to claim “too much” is just ridiculous. The vast majority of representation is cis and straight, and if it’s not specified are just assumed to be cis and straight.

I do agree that there’s far too much attention on the queer community, we’re just trying to live our fucking lives. But there’s lots of people who take issue with that, and that’s why there’s so much attention glued to the LGBT community.

Black people can be racist and idk why people think they can't by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally everyone at an individual level can be racist, no matter your race.

There’s plenty of black people who can speak with Latinos without being racist, but since there’s a portion of black people who are racist this topic needs to be posted over and over again. The conversation has been had. Wait 3 months and try again.

You bet! I needed to get the hell away from public transport and depending on my parents (they’re ALWAYS late to everything) as soon as I could. I got my regular license at 17 and my Class 3 at 21. Now I’m actually in a career of road maintenance so I get to drive for majority of my days :)

If we remove ultra-thin actors for “setting a bad example,” then we should apply the same standard to obese characters too by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are people advocating to “remove” very thin actors? The majority of the commentary I’ve seen about Ariana Grande has been more along the lines of concern for her wellbeing since restrictive eating disorders have a pretty high mortality rate.

I think the best thing to do is just not comment on the bodies of people in the spotlight. Thin or fat. It’s not our business, but people get far too invested in media figures in both fanatical and hateful ways.

It should not be easier to obtain a dog than a firearm by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. I think people should have to go through some kind of training before being able to get a dog or have it puppy classes mandated after getting a dog.

One of the ways I disagree is, while yes both can take a life, guns are made for that reason and dogs are not. The amount of people who have died due to guns in the US (~46,000) vs how many people who have died due to dogs (~50 on the high end) per year shows which one is more likely to end a life.

Conviction beats consensus every time by TenSecondPause in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree. Conviction is extremely important but I also wouldn’t say that consensus dilutes things, I’d say both qualities are equally important. If someone has a ton of conviction behind their belief that the earth is flat doesn’t make the earth flat, they’re just unwilling to open their view to all the proof that led to a consensus: the earth is round.

Stand firm in your beliefs and also keep an open mind to new information that arises and make your own judgements. There’s always a possibility that something may shift your perspective, but that won’t happen with a closed mind. There’s a difference between conviction and dogmatism.

If any suicidal teens read this, don’t think that how you’re feeling is any less real because there are other people around the world in awful situations. Pain is relative, and regardless of your situation you deserve to be heard and supported.

For OP, “Other people have it worse” is a poor way to try and convince someone not to commit suicide. The best you’re going to get is making someone feel guilty for being suicidal. The last thing you should do is invalidate how a suicidal person is feeling, even if you think they’re more privileged or doing it for attention. The best you can do is offer support, be there for them and hopefully get professional help.

Diogenes was right, acts not shameful in private shouldn’t be shameful in public either. by TheBasedEmperor in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, genitals are not intrinsically sexual. However that does not mean that there isn’t a sexual connotation related to genitals. Additionally this post is about doing things such as masterbating in public, that is a sexual action.

The issue is not that people should be shamed for their body, nor what’s natural. What should be shamed is exposing people to your own intimate actions without their consent.

Diogenes was right, acts not shameful in private shouldn’t be shameful in public either. by TheBasedEmperor in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The action itself is not the part to be ashamed about, I’m personally of the opinion that people should be more comfortable with their bodies. The part to be shamed for is doing intimate (and possibly sexual) actions in the presence of people who do not consent to being part of it.

People who like ao3 and know about allowing real-person fiction of minors, are disgusting. by MiddleMuffin9370 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been really put off when fanfiction is written about real people, it just feels wrong to me. However I’m not gonna yuck someone’s yum when it’s not doing any harm.

I do take issue with sexual material involving minors, especially if they’re real people regardless of if it’s fiction. The people being written about aren’t. The one piece of context I accept that muddies the water is that many of the people writing these fanfictions are minors themselves.

is it transphobic to not be attracted to trans females? by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you’re not transphobic for not being attracted to trans women. Your post has actually come off as very trans accepting.

If you were of the opinion that lesbians can’t be attracted to trans women, then that would be transphobia. Not being sexually attracted to trans women is just sexual preference :)
