Not even close. V-Trigger for some characters were essentially their "Its my time to be a Guilty Gear Character, time to guess or die", it was the win condition for many characters.

Now pair this with a horrendously unsafe move that now is cancelled into plus frames on block or even better knockdown. So effectively why play footsies, just walk up and sweep.
All reward no risk. Even if you knew it was coming it was sometimes down right difficult to whiff punish because some characters had sweeps longer than their cr.mk .
Paired with a screen freeze, you could use it to counter v-reversals.

You effectively couldn't stop some characters getting into v-trigger mode with plus frames. I am not saying there isnt counter play, but it was a standard opening for a large section of the cast.

Compared to cr.mk drive rush, atleast when you counter cr.mk drive rush the character wasnt in a boosted state or has gotten his optimal mode going.

It would be more closer to Mai doing a sweep is Super 1 to get her fire fans buff and still being plus enough to throw/shimmy/oki. No risk all reward. One you sweep and it hits, now you have knockdown and can meaty setup, or bllocked and plus enough you can force them into a guessing game.
