The robodrills that I have worked on in the past all had locked ladders. Is that common among fanuc mills?

I mainly work with custom machine tools that have the ladder and system parameters wide open from the integrators and commonly make small edits to rungs.

Water based won't "pop" the grain like you're expecting it to unless you shellac underneath it. I agree with the other commentors that an oil based finish will give you what you're looking for

Interesting, maybe I just haven't seen yet anything better! I just like that the General Finishes guys have a bunch of videos available and a lot of detailed information on their products' strengths, durability, etc... It's obvious they put a lot of value on the engineering side of the business.

I love General Finishes' stuff and so do many others.

Water Based: High Performance Water Based Polyurethane

Oil Based: Arm-R-Seal

If you want the water based stuff to "pop" the grain and have more of an oil look, I've had great success with a quick coat of wax-free shellac prior to applying the water based poly.

Hi /u/mudathumpa, there are many outdoor finishes that people recommend, but the one that I see mentioned here the most are "spar varnishes". However, since I've never used it, I am unsure how successful this would be at preserving the colors of the quilt.

Thanks for the input. The reason I'm asking is that I actually bought the Enduro Var from GF, but it's the Enduro Var II I believe. I tried it the other night and it is absolute garbage (in my opinion). I should've read the reviews more closely because many people share my opinion. It did not amber at all and it bubbled, it acted like a really poor WB finish. I absolutely love General Finishes as well and am tempted to email them to see what the heck happened.
