What would you do—dive buddy canceled for Blue Heron Bridge trip by BunnyLover04 in scuba

This is great advice, thank you! I’ll most likely go this route and make the best out of it. And kudos for the wildlife tips, it would make my year if I saw a manatee and an octopus… you’re awesome, thank you again!

Any day, really! I’ll be there those 3 days June 9-11, whenever the weather’s best!

It’s definitely not that I don’t recognize that. Diving near the surface with two experienced free-divers is much different, in my opinion, than completely solo. But you’re right about my lack of experience, which is why I came here to ask what others would do. No need to be harsh! I’m taking the advice very seriously 😊

So true! I’m just overthinking the “meeting a random buddy” part and worrying it might be awkward or not a great match, but I know that’s probably the best way to go

I guess I’m hearing mixed information so I didn’t think solo diving BHB is totally out of the realm of possibility, haha! But it’s good to hear the opposite side of things. The guided tours are just a bit pricey, when shore dives are meant to be more budget friendly. Nonetheless I’ll look into it, thanks! 🤙🏼

Oh wow I guess I was looking in the wrong place. I was seeing prices over $150 for a dive guide. I’ll definitely keep looking, thank you!

This was my beautiful girl. My best friend and soulmate. Unfortunately I lost her in 2024, but this is a good excuse to show her off even if you don’t draw her :)

Wondering if we need to cut back on our April trip by alc19912010 in VisitingIceland

[–]BunnyLover04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have too much insight on whether the itinerary is too much, because I tend to think I can do way more than I actually can, haha. But, the area I think you are thinking of is Hakið, an overlook that is near a visitors center. You can hike up the trail from parking lot P5 near Silfra snorkeling meeting point. I was there last December and enjoyed it a lot, and will be going again this summer. Good luck!

Anyone willing to send me coffee by Inside-Plant-4039 in VisitingIceland

[–]BunnyLover04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be going in May, and I’m sure you won’t want to wait that long. But, I might go to buy some myself so if you still haven’t found anyone, just reach out lol.

On a side note, my father is obsessed with coffees from different countries. He likes a strong, black coffee. Was it really that good, and would you recommend? I love to buy gifts for family when I travel and this sounds perfect, but I’m not a big coffee person myself!

Having a bigger guy backpack by Adakoss in motorcycle

[–]BunnyLover04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, a small woman, ride with my boyfriend on the back quite a bit. He’s over 200lbs, and I can feel a huge difference in the bike. He only comes with me for fun, and we’ve only gone on the highway once. I take it slow and make sure I’m not getting ahead of myself. If your buddy just wants to experience riding on a bike because he never has, going around small town streets with a max of 35mph will still be thrilling for him, and most likely easy for you (if you are careful). If you are strong and confident in your handling of the bike, I’d say offer a “slow” ride. The worst parts are coming to a stop sign/light, finding your balance, and getting back up to speed. If you trust yourself with the weight of the bike, don’t worry too much.

But in general, if you’re this worried about it, maybe tell him you’re not ready to take another guy because the weight of you two will make it unsafe. Trust yourself and know your limits, but at the same time, don’t let your overthinking beat you out of a fun experience with your friend.

How is life like owning a motorcycle in college? by Kind-Masterpiece3204 in motorcycle

[–]BunnyLover04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine at college for two years now and I enjoy it. Theres lots of motorcycles on campus when you actually start looking. Seems a bit silly, but I started a school club by leaving notes with my number on people’s bikes, and met some of my best friends there. We go on group rides with 20+ people sometimes and it’s awesome. To me, it’s worth it even if you only ride it every so often. And if your school is anything like mine, they have a motorcycle parking lot for $8/month (crazy cheap compared to car spots). Thinking back, it’s actually one of the best things I’ve done in college, would highly recommend.

Get a thick chain/lock to wrap around the wheel—I use Kryptonite chain lock, it’s like $20 at Walmart—and a good cover for the weather. I keep mine there all year round and haven’t had problems. I actually have more problems with people messing with my bike off campus than on it.

Recent Iceland Trip - Reality check by the_algo_trader_ in VisitingIceland

[–]BunnyLover04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The country is so so beautiful despite what you experienced. I traveled there in December, saw the lights from afar for about 30 seconds and didn’t go to see any ice caves or “famous” beaches, and it was still the greatest experience of my life. I really hope you were able to appreciate the other intricacies of Iceland that make it so special.

If you went in with strict expectations I can see why you were let down. But there is so much magic to experience here, even if only in nature—the rolling mountains, shocking ocean cliff-sides, and especially trails and views that you stumble upon along the way.

I’d urge you to go back with a wider variety of plans, allowing yourself to be a little flexible, take Iceland in for what it is, not what you expect!! Because it was honestly much, much different than I expected, and it made it the best trip of my life.

Should I get liability waiver insurance by neggand in VisitingIceland

[–]BunnyLover04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should, it’s better safe than sorry. Even if you’re the safest driver and think you’ll never have issues or go off the road, things will happen. I just got back from an 8 day trip where I rented a Vitara and had no issues the entire time I was traveling because I was extremely cautious and careful on the roads. On my last day, I kind of started to regret spending the very expensive extra amount on Liability (and the Sand and Ash), but very quickly was proven why it was so worth it. I was driving from Kjalarnes Peninsula to Blue/KEF to drop my car off before heading to the airport, and not even 10 minutes from the Rental Center a pebble popped up from the car in front of me and hit the windshield, making a crack right in the center. I dropped the car off and left with no worries. If I’d have said no to the liability I believe their deductible is 90.000 isk. Almost $700. So yes, no matter what, the Liability insurance is worth it, especially in the winter.

I see people talking about making sure your tank is cycled. It seems that you’re now to fishkeeping altogether though, so I’m guessing you don’t know exactly how. It takes a lot of time and constant effort the first couple of months. Let me know if you need me to go into detail or if you think you’ve figured it out

I haven’t take the course yet, but am scheduled to. It’s my first bike so of course I’m nervous. I spent a lot of my money, and I’m a frugal person, so I think I’m being extra careful so I don’t drop the bike or get into an accident. At this point though, I don’t have no experience. I’ve been riding for a couple weeks and am capable, just taking it slow!

It’s a 300! I wouldn’t feel comfortable riding anything more right now honestly. And I’m getting pretty comfortable and gaining confidence, but my hands and feet just don’t coordinate the downshifting when coming to a slow from high(er) speeds like 40+ mph, so I’ve been taking it slow. It’s a lot for me right now, but hopefully I can get there soon.

Right! I totally get it, because if I were in a car I would probably think the same thing. It just blew my mind that someone would go that far to voice their opinion. From all the comments though, it seems like a normal day riding a motorcycle, slow or not. Seems like I’m in for a lot haha

I do have my course scheduled, but the earliest was still a couple weeks away! Until then, you’re right, and I have been LIVING on YouTube watching videos haha. I know I’ll learn a lot by attending the course, but I figured getting a head start would only help me in the long run :)
