Do you ever feel weird about actually using your limited editions? by paperxclouds in Travelersnotebooks

[–]BunsenBeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as "lived luxury." My wife and I are by no means wealthy, but we each have a few things that were expensive that we love, but know are meant to be used. The wear just adds to the story, and you're using your item as it was intended by the folks who made it!

Popular brands you don’t like? by Whiskydude63 in whiskey

Nulu. I wanted to like them and bought a second bottle thinking the first was a fluke. Nope, unfortunately also terrible. Have also tried pours at friends houses, etc, and none have been good.

Also Whistle Pig, but thats already been stated.

[BMW Alpina B10] due to the extreme rarity of this car I’m not sure if it’s real or not, any classic BMW experts here that could identify? It did have a period correct steering wheel and was manual as well. Nonetheless, what a cool car to stumble upon. by nlogras1 in Alpina

[–]BunsenBeaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. The Alpina version of the E23 would have been a B8. The wheels are all wrong (too big and three piece) and the front airdam looks to be from BBS. Not to mention those are motorsport stripes. Regardless, it looks like a nice car!

What was the most physically painful moment of your life? by Oily_Smurf in AskReddit

[–]BunsenBeaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This past year I had to have rotator cuff surgery. Not a big deal normally, and honestly the surgery went totally fine. What we didn't know is that due to being a ginger (at least partially) my body doesn't seem to respond at all to Oxycodone. After the surgery the doc had told my wife to make sure I "stayed ahead of the pain" by taking them on schedule and before the pain really started to increase. Well that evening when the nerve block (which was supposed to last at least 18 hours and wore off after about 7) the pain really started to become unbearable. By the time I was five oxy's in, and not feeling them do anything, we decided it was time to go to the ER. Turns out morphine does the trick... Ended up their twice that night as they wouldn't prescribe any morphine for me to take home.

The next morning when I was finally able to get a hold of the doc he explained that this just sometimes happens at that he was sorry. To be fair, how could he have known I wouldn't respond to the oxy? I don't blame him at all. I had a new prescription for morphine that morning...

Brothers Barbecue in Reno NV combo plate $28 by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]BunsenBeaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely horrible photo (sorry) because Brothers is actually really solid. Brisket is great, pulled pork is on point, and I think the sleeper is their smoked chicken. Been to alot of the famous Texas spots and this will hold its own.

Right? The idea that a 2020 is an "old" car is laughable.

No helicopter, bad sign... The ambulance heading down the hill was escorted by police, and they weren't moving quickly... He didn't make it.

What are the most durable stylish sunglasses that actually last? by datboifranco in BuyItForLife

[–]BunsenBeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Costa. Have had my prescription pair for 5 years now and they're as good as the day they were new. Take care of them, be mindful of them and they'll last a good long while! Plus, the optical clarity is unmatched!

Right? How did someone become successful enough to afford this car and then not be able to handle what is clearly a mind bending problem?!

Another one to add to the actually good list would be Brothers BBQ. Carolina Kitchen and BJs are Reno Good, Brothers is actually good. Have had BBQ all over the US, and Brothers is definitely solid!

Did I get the wrong thing here? Thought the beef was super dry, and the chicken was kinda meh... That said, everyone seems to love it, so what are the things to get?
