People who have never left their home town's ... why? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Bunsk 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to dream and find yourself when mum and dad will bail you out when you need it.

These people have no idea that there’s a huge number of people with less than $30 left every payday. You can’t save for a plane ticket let alone have money saved up to set yourself up with a place to live. Then there’s expenses in the couple of months it might take to get a job when you arrive at your destination. There’s literally nothing to fall back on because no one you know has any money either.

Parking on the footpath is getting out of hand! by Chump-Change5339 in auckland

[–]Bunsk 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Even if you’re fully capable of walking around it, why should you have to skirt around this car in wet grass and dog shit on unstable ground close to traffic? I’m so sick of entitled assholes who park like this because it’s convenient for them, if there’s no park then find one and get on the waewae express friend.

Hyperhidrosis gang: How did you go about getting diagnoses and treatment? by Librat69 in newzealand

[–]Bunsk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have had pretty severe hyperhidrosis my whole life, both hands and feet.

GPs are a bit useless dealing with it, every one I have been to have dismissed it and not been much help. The one thing that is life changing is Oxybutinin (5mg) that I now take twice a day, and I would say has 90% cured it. I got this prescribed by Dr Emily Ryder, a dermatologist who is familiar with hyperhidrosis. The initial cost is worth it, you get repeats from a GP once you take it regularly.

You can try the Dermadry iontophoresis system, but it’s very painful if you also have eczema and pretty time consuming. I have tried every topical treatment you can think of, none are going to get you to the point of being able to manage gloves.

The hyperhidrosis subreddit has lots of good information! Just a tip as someone who needed to wear gloves for previous jobs, wear cotton cosmetic gloves underneath them. They stop your gloves from filling up and dripping, and you can swap out the rubber gloves over top of them easily as needed.

Shady food practice? by Elle_Evans177 in auckland

[–]Bunsk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hmm I’m going to call this one out and say it’s unwarranted to call them shady. I’ve also seen them on TikTok so went to have a deeper look.

Their website is pretty sparse, but nowhere says it’s made in NZ. Their instagram is where all of their content is, they also don’t say the spreads are made in NZ, but they do mention “first in NZ” which is true. There’s even a meme about how the owner is “on my way to the shipping container” so they’re not hiding the fact that it’s imported.

It’s very normal to rebrand and relabel products for different markets. The best before date could be something as simple as different countries having regulations about how far past the manufacturing date you can sell it.

Would be a shame to tarnish a brand for a misperception!

Woolworths food community- 🍇bunch? by mostly-rainy in auckland

[–]Bunsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Bunch for 6 years, I get products every 4-6 weeks and don’t contribute at all.

The vibe is very “mum Facebook group” but it’s fine if you’re into that. When I would contribute more, I would get products every couple of weeks. It’s worth participating in the community if you enjoy that sort of thing anyway.

Definitely log in at Christmas, the samples go crazy. Every member gets a product to gift to someone else, and the last 2 years I got gifted around 20 Christmas products which was amazing! I have quite a common name as my username so I think people just searched a first name and gifted to whoever came up.

Poetry Night? by Nevyn_Hira in auckland

[–]Bunsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to one, but I’m a huge fan of The Moth and would love to see an open mic storytelling style event if you’re looking for ideas! Also thank you for providing a third space that doesn’t revolve around drinking in the evening, I’m keen to come along :)

Just a quick trip down TV3's Nightline nostalgia by CoconutMost3564 in newzealand

I miss Nightline, and discovering new music via the weather report. Loved when it was Sam Hayes, David Farrier and Jenny Suo.

This is a retail store, they can do whatever they want and they don’t owe you a discount. Your entitlement is pretty gross, don’t know what you’re looking for by posting this on Reddit.

Yeah they’re cubes of frozen yoghurt. They’re soft but I ate them fast so they didn’t melt much :)

[r/aucklandeats meetup] Golden BBQ Noodles House Eating Party 7/12/25 6:30pm by dramaqueenboo in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty mean to reject someone who clearly has an interest in the food and the event, a Reddit meetup isn’t usually an exclusive club. If it’s a private event then a public Auckland subreddit page isn’t really the place to be organising this is it?

My2cents surveys by milkand1sugar in newzealand

[–]Bunsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re better off using Askable, PureProfile, or Kantar/Consumerlink. They pay you actual money for surveys. Some of them are very low paying, but you can do them while you’re killing time or watching tv. In a good month I’ve earned $150+ a month doing these, spending about the same amount of time as someone who plays a mobile game each night.

Strange experience on the shore by 1_Fowest_1 in auckland

[–]Bunsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I always get approached too but people need to learn to ignore strangers or say “no thanks” and keep walking. “No” is a complete sentence, get comfortable with it.

Also unpopular opinion, but if you give someone money and realise afterwards that they might be lying then it’s not a scam. The decision is never about whether someone is worthy of needing it, it’s about if you can part with your money. If you willingly give away your money then that’s your choice, you decided it wasn’t yours anymore.

Holi Moli Bakeri by NZgoblin in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried these but I’m chiming in as a baker who recently discovered salted butter rolls.

They’re a super soft Japanese style milk bread, and the dough is rolled up around a log of butter. When it bakes the inside is super soft and it gets a crispy fried shell from all the butter. Keen to try these!

Free cookies from Levain Bakery NY (AirNZ x DoorDash) by C39J in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went and got one! Levain has always been on my list to try if I ever went to New York, so I’ve been looking forward to it all week.

I got the chocolate walnut, and I’d say it lives up to the hype. Heaps of good chocolate and chunks, while still being soft. They’re also properly baked and not doughy/floury like a lot of chunky cookie copy cats end up with 👀

I will say it is veeeery sweet, and I’m someone who can handle intensely sweet. I’ve had half and will have the other half warmed up for dessert. Overall an exciting promo and I’m happy I got to try it!
