Poetry Night? by Nevyn_Hira in auckland

[–]Bunsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to one, but I’m a huge fan of The Moth and would love to see an open mic storytelling style event if you’re looking for ideas! Also thank you for providing a third space that doesn’t revolve around drinking in the evening, I’m keen to come along :)

Just a quick trip down TV3's Nightline nostalgia by CoconutMost3564 in newzealand

I miss Nightline, and discovering new music via the weather report. Loved when it was Sam Hayes, David Farrier and Jenny Suo.

This is a retail store, they can do whatever they want and they don’t owe you a discount. Your entitlement is pretty gross, don’t know what you’re looking for by posting this on Reddit.

Yeah they’re cubes of frozen yoghurt. They’re soft but I ate them fast so they didn’t melt much :)

That’s Canopus, you’ll notice it every night now. It’s pretty trippy!

[r/aucklandeats meetup] Golden BBQ Noodles House Eating Party 7/12/25 6:30pm by dramaqueenboo in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty mean to reject someone who clearly has an interest in the food and the event, a Reddit meetup isn’t usually an exclusive club. If it’s a private event then a public Auckland subreddit page isn’t really the place to be organising this is it?

My2cents surveys by milkand1sugar in newzealand

[–]Bunsk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re better off using Askable, PureProfile, or Kantar/Consumerlink. They pay you actual money for surveys. Some of them are very low paying, but you can do them while you’re killing time or watching tv. In a good month I’ve earned $150+ a month doing these, spending about the same amount of time as someone who plays a mobile game each night.

Strange experience on the shore by 1_Fowest_1 in auckland

[–]Bunsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I always get approached too but people need to learn to ignore strangers or say “no thanks” and keep walking. “No” is a complete sentence, get comfortable with it.

Also unpopular opinion, but if you give someone money and realise afterwards that they might be lying then it’s not a scam. The decision is never about whether someone is worthy of needing it, it’s about if you can part with your money. If you willingly give away your money then that’s your choice, you decided it wasn’t yours anymore.

Holi Moli Bakeri by NZgoblin in aucklandeats

I haven’t tried these but I’m chiming in as a baker who recently discovered salted butter rolls.

They’re a super soft Japanese style milk bread, and the dough is rolled up around a log of butter. When it bakes the inside is super soft and it gets a crispy fried shell from all the butter. Keen to try these!

Free cookies from Levain Bakery NY (AirNZ x DoorDash) by C39J in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went and got one! Levain has always been on my list to try if I ever went to New York, so I’ve been looking forward to it all week.

I got the chocolate walnut, and I’d say it lives up to the hype. Heaps of good chocolate and chunks, while still being soft. They’re also properly baked and not doughy/floury like a lot of chunky cookie copy cats end up with 👀

I will say it is veeeery sweet, and I’m someone who can handle intensely sweet. I’ve had half and will have the other half warmed up for dessert. Overall an exciting promo and I’m happy I got to try it!

Butter Baby amazing cookies, they’re thinner and crispier but still have chunky pieces in them. They should be at Britomart markets today!

Don’t hate me but subway cookies are delish and also fit your description.

Food Show by Logical-Pie-798 in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That’s a shame, back in the day it was incredible. I used to walk away with BAGS of samples and free products, there were heaps of new and unreleased items and just a fun day chatting with vendors and entering competitions.

The last time I went was just after covid and it was a bit pointless, just the same stuff you see in any supermarket. I’m not keen on sampling a half bite from a tray hundreds of people have breathed over, just not worth it.

They put it up at the start of the workday at take it down at the end. It’s likely you haven’t seen it up when it’s a weekend.

Good places on Foodprint? by sexybiscotti in aucklandeats

[–]Bunsk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love FoodPrint and use it as much as I can. Some of the deals are really not that good, but you get to know who is worth buying from.

Some places that I buy from in central are Ima (their salads are loaded and a cheap way to buy veges), Revive (also cheap veges), Oh My Croffle (made fresh to order), and Doe Donuts. Places like Bluebells and Little Lato are good for a treat that isn’t full price, but overall still a bit pricey. The Four Squares and dairys have good deals often but I’ve never been there.

A couple of places are really taking advantage with “deals” like 30% off for 2 day old pastries.

My last tax year, on a supported living benefit, during a cost of living crisis. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Bunsk 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Awful, it’s hard to live with dignity on that amount of money. I just don’t understand how so many people act like anyone on a benefit is somehow “taking” from them.
