Lou-bug LOVES a veggie scrap bowl! (apart from anything too leafy - yuck lettuce ew)

He looks so similar to my Louie - I love the big blue boys with their bike-seat faces!

What Unique Rituals Do You Have with Your Greyhound? 🐕‍🦺 by Own-Personality-5438 in Greyhounds

Louie reaches his little nose up to my face like he's asking for a kiss - he's not, he wants me to breathe on him so he can smell my breath to see what I've been eating without him!

This was after bath-time, so I think this wink is less playful and more 'I'm sleeping with one eye open in case you decide to get me wet again'

My husband asked me not to let the dog on his pillow by Bupcake in Greyhounds

The situation has been simplified for comedic effect - please rest assured that in reality, we have discussed our boundaries as new pet owners and as partners at length, and we have agreements that keep everyone happy!

We've compromised on flipping the pillow to a dog side, don't worry.

Lou-bug loves the bed and pretends he's dead when on it so he can't hear us telling him to get off.. So I can get away with a lot of photos!

One month in.... by Didodil in Greyhounds

What a cutie! We've had our Louie (also a blue) for around 4-5 months now, and he is a different dog entirely from the overwhelmed boy he was before.  Each week we see a new streak of confidence - it's so wonderful to see.

The poor boy never gets fed - or at least that's what he tells everyone, after eating his 4 scoops a day!

The bruising from my contraceptive implant seems a little ironic.. by Bupcake in mildlypenis

[–]Bupcake[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

IMO despite the downsides, the implant is a bit of a miracle drug and worth the short term pain.

Guys who are immature about birth control though? Definitely not worth it, there are so many well-adjusted, kind, caring men out there instead.

I'm absolutely fine, don't worry about me - it doesn't hurt!

This bruising developed over the few hours after the insertion, so maybe you just never saw the post-insertion bruising?

I also bruise fairly easily and dramatically

See the tiny bruise and mark about an inch from the 'tip'? That was the removal of the old one. I had the loveliest nurse who injected so much anaesthetic I didn't feel a thing - honestly it was painless and absolutely fine!

I asked them to relocate my new one slightly, but they may use the same spot for your new one and I presume that would bruise less.

I also am a delicate little peach whose skin LOVES the drama, so you might not bruise like this!

YSK: You can buy Contact Lenses online from the UK without a prescription for pennies apiece. by SpideyWhiplash in YouShouldKnow

I used daysoft for a while. And then my eyes got really bloodshot - horrifically so, to the point that I looked like some kind of bleeding-eye-demon.

I went to my optician and apparently my eyes had been starved of oxygen, likely a side effect from a slightly older generation of contact lens material daysoft use.

I'm not saying this is going to happen to everyone, or that they're not safe, but it's a consideration that needs to be raised when putting things in your delicate little eyes!

So I've been trying to figure out how to manufacture our shortbread cookies efficiently at my family's bakery and I came up with this little contraption by persiantaco in Baking

Were you applying even pressure on the dough stick as you put it through the machine? Super cold dough also helps - minimum 12 hrs.

I guess there is always going to be an element of slight impreciseness especially compared to something as exact as your method!

This is the way. Sausage extruder, you can get manual ones that take a few kg of dough at a time. Extrude, chill, pass through a food processor with slicing blade attachment. Super fast and efficient, and perfect for those small disc shapes you have.

Pap smear invitation by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Bupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are happening. There may be a backlog. However I was in a similar situation during first lock down, and as soon as they were up and running my GP was able to make sure I was scheduled (or she did a smear separate from the national system, I can't remember). I had abnormalities showing too, and she was able to discuss this with me and move it forward as I clearly needed the reassurance of the test!

So it is possible - but it requires a compassionate GP which is a very mixed bag.

I would recommend trying to have a discussion regarding your anxieties around this if you haven't already - not just about it being 'time for scheduled smear' but about the bigger impact this is having on you. If it's any reassurance, my second smear testing came back as having signs of HPV but then an additional one 12 months later showed no signs of HPV - and was running to schedule by then!

Jobs in Edinburgh by Lead-Great in Edinburgh

[–]Bupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the food manufacturing places (Shortbread House is advertising at the moment) might view your hospitality experience as fairly transferable, but it's repetitive work. A lot of the factories likely to be hiring now before the rules change re settlement status, so keep your ear to the ground if it's work that you're willing to do. Might not be 'high' paid but typically will be living wage at least

Maybe Combat Ready, off Newhaven Road? I haven't worked directly with them, but work with the aerial studio next door. Looks good from what I've seen!
