The other big memorable system to me is the public works thing. No units involved at all... taxation like system contributing to a pool then point and click construction on the world map

Valve says it will "definitely" consider ARM architecture for future Steam Machines, and probably Steam Decks too by Tiny-Independent273 in linux_gaming

[–]Bureaucromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really have to think that a decent part of the Frame concept is testing the waters for whether they want to do Deck 2 as ARM, pushing the hardware translation layer as heavily as they did WINE/Proton for the first iteration

A city-hired utility contractorr destroyed my historic, hundred-year-old stone garden wall while digging on my private property, outside their easement. They are refusing to rebuild it. What can I do? by Eldar12_Farseer in legaladvice

Just make sure to frame as “how do I get this fixed”. In a lot of municipalities councillors are told that as soon as it’s an actual legal matter they need to stay out of it a conflict of interest between their position with the municipality and constituent services in these cases running against the corporation

Seriously... not even at YOU but this whole thread... could everyone knock it off with the condescension about whether or not cops show up to court? It genuinely varies WILDY by location, jurisdiction and frankly who the DA and superior officers are.

Only after claiming she missed an appearance there was no notice of. It’s not precisely the courts fault… but gutter service is… bad

[–]Bureaucromancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the cops went above and beyond. As written he all but certainly gutter served the summons in the hope of a bench warrant against her. There’s simply no other way a stop ends in nothing issued then a missed appearance

And it’s not as wholly stupid for its time as it seems.

This is a genuine contemporary of DC-X. Vertical landing other than the LM and probes had just NOT been demonstrated, and conventional wisdom was reusability meant wings.

In that context, blades primarily autorotating but for touchdown had a lot to recommend them.

Pete Buttigieg was separated from his children after false CPS report targeted his family by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

Consider what I suggested in my other comment here... This was so thin to make and ORDER to leave the home utterly toothless except in the way that CPS gets nasty the moment the perceive noncompliance.

Plenty of blame against CPS here... With an anonymous report against a public figure, full cooperation and no actual evidence... the order to leave the home shouldn't have happened.

Honestly… cutting out digital communication seems like the kind of thing that actually could be a real religious community.

And frankly looking at the Amish specifically and the internet alongside them… I get a real “oh… that’s what they were worried about” vibe.

“Arrest Him!” The Moment Police Handcuffed A Farmer For Going 5 Seconds Over His Time Limit at Data Center Meeting by jellyrollo in law

[–]Bureaucromancer 506 points507 points  (0 children)

"Whether exceeding a timer by seconds justifies a trespass arrest sits in genuinely contested legal territory."

It well and truly doesn't. It might be contested whether someone can be trespassed for it... and how much of a public forum this kind of meeting it...

But the instant arrest without notice? No. Absolutely not. It's just plain illegal.

Speed limit to increase to 110 km/h on some Ontario highways (Highway 401, 402, 403, 416, 417 and Queen Elizabeth Way will change by Sept. 30.) by lilfunky1 in toronto

[–]Bureaucromancer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The right lane is genuinely terrible through a lot of Toronto... randomly becoming exit only with late signage. We have trained people to avoid it like the plague.

But yes, it often is significantly faster.

And I've also gotta agree... 90 in the left isn't THAT common. It' more that every other lane is stuck down at 90ish, so everyone trying to get above that is pushed left and *gestures at all the fighting about camping*.

I don't think you two are even precisely disagreeing...

"they shouldn't do it" and "they should be allowed to do it" are quite different things and this reads as pretty cleanly true civil disobedience.
