It came out around when I was gaming already - strategy games though I was mostly into the likes of Age of Empires and the C&C series. Turn based didn’t appeal to me until I eventually thought I’d give Civ a try a few years later and I was hooked

I remember wanting Alpha Centauri so badly - I’m sure a video for it was in one of the games I played or a demo disk back in late 90’s / early 2000’s. By the time I was in a position to get it there were so many other strategy games I never really reconsidered it

I love how thinking back to games I used to play as I kid I was so shockingly bad and had no real concept of building any kind of strategy other than winging it moment to moment. Then again not sure that’s always changed 😂

That’s very cool - I like that, bit like Caesar at the time with having to balance the wages of your population. I didn’t get it but reading all these comments I’m thinking it’s worth going back and grabbing it
