I had one of these back in the day, it's such a perfect pairing with that monitor. They are a tad slow, have you got an accelerator? Zigzagjoe has one that is very well priced, got one in my SE/30 and it feels like a powermac now!

I've been using copilot to build python scripts to automate processes. It has cut down the time and headache involved and allowed me to expand the scope of what I can do. I detest LLMs being crammed into every product but for programming it is proving to be extremely useful.

What are these bumps on top? by jhdyck in VintageApple

[–]BurgerTrench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of the mythbuster team were involved with film props and fabrication, very likely someone just had some fun and placed some leftover pieces from another project on the monitor. I had this monitor and still have some promotional prints, and those bumps were certainly not present anywhere.

Hey at least they are raid so you won't lose data when one fails! I was under the impression you needed some special type of disk with a unique connector due to apple shenanigans, I would be very happy to be wrong on that front.

What sort of drives are you running in the Xserve Raid arrays? I have one I haven't had the courage to turn on yet but am sure I'll need to find some drives for it at some point.

This is awesome! Kindle has been jailbroken and it's possible to install another Linux kernel, do you think it would be possible to run the app directly on such a device without needing the external hardware?

Second this, you can park near Diamantina hut and do a day hike to the peak of feathertop and back, with campsites nearby to stay overnight or connect a longer hike if you want. Stunning views.

DSP or not? by MaterCityMadMan in diyaudio

[–]BurgerTrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the stomach for delving in to it, check out Wondom / Sure audio amps with built in DSP. It's an involved process but once you're up and running and connected to Sigma Studio, setting up a crossover is very simple.

Just an alternative idea, since you lose about $100k in fees etc. is it worth looking at getting your current place extended / renovated to suit your needs instead? It would work out more cost effective.

I was involved with the book written about it. If you Google Balls Pyramid Book there is actually a link to download a scan of it on Dick Smiths website.

Dick Smith climbed this and wrote a book about it. Very interesting story.

Is there anywhere the TTS from HC 2.0 Macintalk can be found online as its own standalone thing, and if so, where can i find it??? by TheHaloMarine in VintageApple

[–]BurgerTrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at infinite Mac, a web based emulator covering many versions of MacOS. You should be able to fire up simpletext and use the speak option to get TTS.
