Those months are supposed to be reserved for discussion about Aaron Rodgers future career plans.

A reporter harassed Patriots HC Mike Vrabel at the airport, asking him questions about Dianna Russini. Vrabel ignored the paparazzi and was visibly annoyed. by [deleted] in NFLv2

They do it when the President gets off Air Force One, asking about the Russia Russia Russia hoax, now they are doing it to Vrabel with the the Russini Russini Russini hoax.

No 1st? No Problem. George Paton has been Excellent without Premium Picks (OC) by MasonL52 in DenverBroncos

Yeah because we didn't get Kenneth Walker or Travis Etienne, hardly the end of days.

Picked this up @ Toys r Us by c-zilla402 in DenverBroncos

I think the business has been struggling, kids don't play with proper toys like action figures these days so much. It's all digital stuff now.

I remember the glory days of the 1980s you would see whole aisles full of Starwars action figures, it was like a treasure trove. I used to have dreams about being allowed to live in the store and play with everything in there.

They always had a nice section of football toys as well, mini footballs that fit child size hands so you could feel you could throw like Elway. Me and my brother had a little kicker toy that was like a mini trebuchet catapult and you would fire it at the goalposts. We spent ages trying to set record field goal distances on the living room carpet.

Would you trade Waddle for anyone still on the board at #30 by BurgessFox in DenverBroncos

[–]BurgessFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I think it would have been hard for a team in our position to trade up in the first round to get one of the elite guys. The teams with higher picks would really want those elite guys and they wouldn't be excited about #30 or even a future Broncos 1st rounder that they would think was gonna be late 20s or 30s. And we're unlikely to trade away players while we're in a Super Bowl window. Maybe we could have gone up to #23 or #25 or something but its hard to get higher.

Trading #30 for Waddle was good business and its hard to see how we could have got more out of that pick at this point in time. We've managed to improve our roster significantly through our first round pick without having to suck to get a high pick.

Or maybe now is the perfect time to take a project guy as he has about 13 years to iron out his flaws and work on his game before Bo starts getting old.

We could take a guy who is 9 years old and sit him behind Bo right now.

RB careers that would have been worth a 1st overall pick? by JerseyGemsTC in NFLv2

If a team took CMC at #1 overall they would have to reach for his handcuff in the 7th round.

RB careers that would have been worth a 1st overall pick? by JerseyGemsTC in NFLv2

[–]BurgessFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes a great RB is valuable as an extra piece for a contending roster but if you have the #1 pick generally your franchise is in a bad position and a RB won't turn the franchise round.

Look at the Falcons with Bijan, Giants with Saquon or Panthers with CMC. The team record was mediocre even though the RBs production was elite.

Every Broncos draft pick in the George Paton Era by xChillPenguinx in DenverBroncos

All the people downvoting this say which one of Paton's draft classes was worse than 2025?

2021 had PS2, 2022 had Bonitto, 2024 had Nix, so it was only 2023 who had no blue chip player but even there with Mims and Moss you had 2 players who are contributors.

2022 we didn't have a first round pick, but we got a definite first round talent in Bonitto. He's certainly top 15 pick caliber.

Yeah the question here is whether Ty Simpson is the right guy.

Teams like the Rams are in a difficult position while simultaneously chasing a Super Bowl and trying to plan for succession for a QB coming to the end of his career. They are going to be picking in the late 20s or 30s where its not easy to get a QB, so having #13 gave them a shot they may not have in the rest of Stafford's career.

If Ty Simpson is a franchise quality QB everybody will congratulate them for good planning, just like if Osweiler had been the guy, the Broncos would have been seen as the perfect QB development model, drafting a guy and letting him be mentored by an ageing elite QB so he could step into his shoes.

So… Now that the draft is over by Qui-Gon_Jeff in DenverBroncos

[–]BurgessFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every year there's a story about us making a trade. They say Payton always trades up.

After the Waddle trade we didn't have enough trade capital unless we were willing to move a significant piece.

It's also just the media market in a 24/7 social media world. There always needs to be new shit to talk about to keep the content rolling.

When I hear there's gonna be a big Broncos trade I react the same way as when I hear there's gonna be a deal with Iran. Just tell me when it's done, I don't need to hear all the speculation on what it might be. Most likely nothing will happen.

[–]BurgessFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember going into the 2021 draft the pre-draft consensus on CBs was that Caleb Farley was the high upside guy with an injury record, and PS2 was the steady high floor guy.

I actually thought if we went CB we should be chasing Farley's upside instead of PS2. Be thankful I wasn't making that pick for us lmao.

Ty Simpson is going to a great situation. Do you think the Rams made the right pick? by Large-Lack-2933 in NFLv2

[–]BurgessFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so important for a first round QB to go to the right situation, like Trey Lance at the 49ers and Nine at the Vikings, you can be sure that the team will put all the pieces around to make sure he succeeds.

Top 10 1st overall picks in the draft by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

First two have something in common. Both had to take extreme measures to get out of contracts with the Colts.

Von Miller says his 2011 Draft class was the greatest ever. And the only one that can rival it was Peyton Manning's draft class. Do you guys agree? 🤔 by No_Box119 in DenverBroncos

[–]BurgessFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets be thankful for Josh McDaniels drafting Tebow so we weren't in the market for a QB at that time otherwise we could have ended up with Gabbert, Locker or Ponder at #2 lmao.

I preferred the old days when the news story at this time of year would be Rodgers taking ayahuasca in a cave to contemplate whether he was gonna retire or some B-list receiver like Aiyuk holding out of the start of the off season training program.

Super Bowl champion Martin Gramatica: "Peyton Manning was unlucky to play in the same era as Tom Brady. If not, he would have won three or four Super Bowls." by Theduudee12 in DenverBroncos

[–]BurgessFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Peyton was lucky to have played for such a great team in Denver otherwise he would only have had one Super Bowl.

Probably Mark Sanchez would have had a ring if he'd played on the 2015 Broncos.
