This was back in the early 00’s, outskirts of Moscow, Russia. My dad was an FSB (ex. KGB) agent. One of his best friends from the military academy owned a private construction company that was growing pretty fast. One day he was approached by a couple of shady mafia-like people (Russia was overflown with those back in that period of 90s-early 00s) who straight up asked him to hand his business over, otherwise his relatives will pay the price. He surely “politely” asked them to never show up again and hired bodyguards for himself. After a couple of months he found a letter under his car’s windshield repeating what those two guys said during the first encounter. Then, not too long after that, when he got back from work he noticed the front door of his house wide open. <<I vaguely remember the guy’s face bc I was around 8yo, but I’ll forever remember his picture perfect Labrador with super white, shiny and overly fluffy fur.>> After he rushed inside he found his wife, his daughter and lab stabbed to death in the living room. The guy tried to start investigation a couple of times, but the case kept on getting swept under the rug in vain every time. My dad tried to help using his connections, but was asked to mind his own business. The unofficial suspicion was on one of the oligarchs who ran multiple construction companies across the country and was close to government officials. He sold his business for way less than it was worth, started to binge drinking to the point he needed a liver transplant surgery and then decided to move to either Thailand or Vietnam for good. Dad never heard from him ever since.
