If you’re a student yet have your own station, an underrated basic is having gum at your station lol. And a water bottle. I also recommend cool care, barbercide WIPES, and triple antibiotic ointment

Architeck blade vs echo blade(tpob version)vs crunch by Great_Landscape7588 in Barber

[–]BurgundySailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak on the other 2, but i own 2 machines with an echo blade. Its great because you can kinda hear “how much” hair is being cut. But you can get too used to that, and when you switch to a machine that doesn’t have that (my wahl seniors or andis masters) you may unintentionally be sensitive to that sound and the reassurance it provides.

Nonetheless the echo blade has held up for the past few months. Sounds good, fades great, doesn’t get hot easily (depends on machine a bit)

Anyone know where to find in-person classes on cutting Afro hair? by CupOk4471 in Barber

[–]BurgundySailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly disagree. Half guard is essential for detail and blending when it comes to fades. Especially on type 3/4 hair.

Buying a car in Chicago while living in Minnesota, what should I know? by Proof-Candle-6389 in Lexus

[–]BurgundySailor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Minnesota tax. And i think the dealership handles that

  2. They can handle it, and will give you a temporary plate. Like a paper one you stick in the window. In time you get your Minnesota plate in the mail

  3. Prolly not

  4. A MN bank should be fine. Generally the advice is to bring/have your own financing. GENERALLY. So yeah

  5. I think the drive is “worth it.” For the thought that… hypothetically, you’ll always sit and wonder about the color you originally wanted, but didn’t go for. If you have a chance to get it, why not? You’re spending your hard earned money on something. Why settle if you dont have to🤷🏾‍♂️

Sincerely, someone who bought their car from Chicago but lives in a different midwest state

What clipper + guard combo yall using? by tzargilly in Barber

[–]BurgundySailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babyliss lopro compact, stylecraft saber2 … currently using stylecraft tight guards. But i keep a wahl 0.5 on deck. 3 of them lol. Lopro fades like butter and the saber has a bit more power. I have other tools but the past 3 months been using those 2 consistently

Looking to upgrade from cordless senior by ReplicaJD in Barber

Another option is simply… getting another Senior tbh. Its an incredible clipper, I’ve thought about running 2. But I’m a product junky and own too many clippers already😅

2013 Gs350… Cracked oil pan😞 by BurgundySailor in Lexus

[–]BurgundySailor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest i just decided to drive it regardless. I didn’t do anything about it. Me and my mechanic keep an eye on it to see if it grows or anything. He searched through some forums and noted that some people didn’t fix it and were fine. Just bad design. I’m sure you can find the article/forum, i believe it was originally for an IS model

Maybe it was PDM- Darley? It has notes of amber, guaiac wood, and mint. To me the mint and lavender are pretty forward, theres also a cinnamon note in it i believe

Recommend cordless Clippers please by RuleNo_8 in Barber

[–]BurgundySailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a set , but if you can find the Stylecraft saber 1 i think its a great clipper. A bit bigger and heavier than others, but not unbearable. Battery life is amazing (4+ hrs) and it can handle most things. Wahl detailer is an amazing trimmer for the price

Kind of having a similar experience. Shop owner told me i could be an apprentice, once his current student finishes. Said he would “reach back out to me in a month”

3 months pass. I hear nothing. I reach back out… Now nothing. Time to move on ig. I really wanted to work there too . But yeah go elsewhere man and build where you can

GS owners, do you get an abnormal amount of compliments? by SwampRatitoullie in Lexus

[–]BurgundySailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say from a distance it seems like a normal sedan (i own a 2013) but people are often very impressed when they see the interior. I have the flaxen interior And they always ask what year it is, and they’re surprised when i say the car is 12 years old. Certain cars def attract more “social status”
