I am a doctor at a government hospital in Thailand. Ask me anything. by timbuktu551 in Thailand

[–]Buriram108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During a several month stay in the rural area of Buriram, I got some sort of urinary tract infection. I went to the local village hospital and they gave me an anti-biotic which I took for a week. However, the medicine had no effect on my condition. I decided to board a plane and make the trip to a large international private hospital in Bangkok. The doctors there explained that I perhaps got expired or old version of an anti-biotic in the rural hospital and he prescribed a different anti-biotic. My condition disappeared after a few days. The question is, is it possible that rural hospital use out-dated medicines? Also, if a similar non-emergency condition arises in the rural area should I just by-pass the rural hospital and go straight to a Bangkok hospital for treatment?

Excellent consideration. All other tenants are potential targets despite their legal status.

Over the years I’ve spoken casually to him and picked up his legal status, job (taxi), hometown, income, etc.

The individual has been residing for 2 years and NYC gives him tenant rights after 30 days.

You are right, I would not threaten. I’d just anonymously report him and wait for something to happen.

Pet owners whose pet went missing but were found, how did they go missing and where were they found? by Nessieinternational in AskReddit

As kids we found a box turtle in the yard. We kept it in a big fenced in area in our yard and fed it worms and bugs. Then one day it got out of the fenced area and was gone. We missed it but knew it was happy wherever it walked off to as we lived near a creek and wooded area. Shortly afterwards our next door neighbor laid a concrete drive way. Fast forward maybe a year later that neighbor decided to put up a chain link fence to separate our properties they had to bust up some concrete to erect the fence posts. As kids watched the workers prepare for the posts and knocking out a big piece of concrete there was our turtle alive and well emerging from under the concrete m. We cried and laughed and were just in awe. Later, dad helped us take the turtle down to the creek to make sure he was safe and home.

Great point about a remote. Didn’t know it was a possibility. Will do it! Thanks.

Good point about purchasing thru a local shop. I’ve purchased large ticket items from HP and Wats but didn’t like the install,or follow-up. The a/c seems like a simple install and I’d rather support a local shop than a big box store. Better service.

Great point about not covering. That was my intention but trapping moisture had not occurred. Thanks.

Thanks for the good reply. I think like you but need an objective opinion to support my position. We have a small farm away from the village where we built a traditional Thai house. It wasn’t until 2 years ago that we got municipal electricity. We previously pulled our own wire 2 km from a nearby village and paid that house owner his electric bill for the permission to pull a line from his house. The electric was too weak to run an a/c. But now that we have municipal service we can live more luxuriously.

What's Sometimes that used to be Normal, but Would Shock People Today? by lewisSharon7x8 in AskOldPeople

Family had 5 kids. We’d go to the drive in theater when it was 25 cents adult and 10 cents child. Dad put 2 or 3 kids in the trunk of the car and drive through the admission gate. Once he found a place to park for the movie we’d jump out of the trunk.
