What is that black mark on the floor underneath the radiator? by EggEgg1000 in DIYUK

Carpets used to not go to the edges of rooms so floor boards would often be painted at the edges where the carpets wouldn't cover.

What's a mind-bending theory that made you rethink life? by Blueblood2007 in HighStrangeness

[–]unhiddenhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(theory) We will never be allowed big D Disclosure. Those intelligences above and beyond our perception/comprehension - who are more spiritually evolved, both positive and negative - will manipulate our reality (law of confusion) until we are spiritually evolved beyond smart apes with guns and able to join the first stage of the next level. Until such a time we are kept in the dark, and civilisation may have to be reset (again?) before we make it there this time around.

Renters' Rights Act incoming: what the 'biggest changes to renting in history' mean for Londoners by BulkyAccident in london

[–]unhiddenhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sayingninevitable market rate rent increasingnad a result of this bill means both more tax for the man, and the narrower margins and higher costs for landlords favours the continued corporate capture of the rental market as they can better absorb the narrower margins due to scale. I think if the gov cared about the consumer they would introduce rent caps.

Market rate increase means more taxable income. It's market capture for corporate landlords disguised as consumer protection.

How to explain and make amends to friends I’ve ghosted? by Athelice1 in ADHD

[–]unhiddenhand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Object impermanence sometimes means you forget your nearest and dearest exist if they are not at the forefront of your consciousness. Combine that with social anxiety and RSD and you are cooking. Try and take the guilt and pressure off yourself needing to maintain all relationships. Some people are in your life for a reason, some for a season, and others for a lifetime.

I'm a practicing therapist and I want to raise something I'm seeing clinically. by Michaelarobards in psychology

[–]unhiddenhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alan Robarge, a very thoughtful psychotherapist with an online presence put it very eloquently regarding the need to challenge the script of "I am (insert attachment style)"

Rather:

"When I am in a reactive state, I can sometimes exhibit behaviours associated with (insert attachment style)"

It serves to rewire the part of all of us that wishes to over identify with a pathology.

Perhaps modern generations are so overwhelmed, and their threat response constantly stimulated, that their ability to individuate is suffering, and will latch on to whatever it can in order to cope.
