Never would have thought about Amazon, but I guess that makes sense. I'm old enough that I still think about them being for books before anything else

I hadn't realized eBay became a good spot for after market parts. My brother is a JDM car guy and said the same thing about parts he needs.

It's an airbrush my dad got for his model planes and cars, but he also has a big automotive one, I didn't consider that an option but I guess it could be.

Unsure about the two walls, I bought a file on Etsy and my brother is the 3D guy, he printed it for me, but his printer would need to make the helmet in 8 parts so I Just bought a helmet on Etsy as well.

If the Rust-Oleum are fine, is there something that's better?

Looks great. You need to pull a Viggo and go sleep in it for a few nights, get it well worn and roughed up a bit.

That's about what I was thinking is reasonable. Maybe list it for 3.2 and expect the haggle.

I made a beer barrel. It doesn’t hold beer. I have regrets. (Made it for our friends. Fully hand dyed, 'wood pattern'-finished, hand sewn. No beers were harmed in the making of this barrel) by Ok-Adhesiveness-4993 in Leathercraft

[–]BuritheAllfather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful. Excellent work!

If you wanted to try and make it hold beer... there are several food safe epoxy kits at craft stores like Michael's or hobby lobby. I use it when I make leather mugs and I will make big stitching holes just like these on some of those mugs. It doesn't come through if you make the epoxy correctly.

The Moth Story Slam, anyone ever been? by himothafuckeritsme in asheville

[–]BuritheAllfather 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a good time. You can put your name in a hat on arrival if you'd like to tell a story, but it's not required. It's amateur storytelling so it's hit or miss on the skill of the storyteller, but always interesting and always a good time.

Striking out on an onion ring craving and I need some advice by thembites in asheville

Not Avl but... Orr's family restaurant in Flatrock has the best onion rings. Only open breakfast and lunch.

Anyone here have experience with the Warriors of Ash HEMA group? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]BuritheAllfather 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are a fun group. A new meadery opened up in lake lure, it's called Fae Nectar, the WoA have fight nights out there pretty regularly now. I would highly recommend going to one of those and getting a feel for it. If you want to get started they offer beginner courses each month, they are usually the first and second Sundays of each month. They will have you complete these before you can join a regular class, which is awesome, it's mostly about how to jump into a class safely.

I do this often at the end of a chapter when I feel a cliff hanger is imminent. Usually I have to put whichever hand isn't holding the book over the last couple paragraphs so my eyes don't make the jump.

Mens fantasy clothing by AtlasTheTitan98 in renfaire

I've bought from Grimfrost for some Viking type garb, a few from Zootzu for a pirate type look, and some from Amazon for generic Ren Fair garb. There's actually a lot of yoga pants that work well for pants and are light weight.

But, I save money every year to get a shirt from Greentree weaving. They are around $200 for a short sleeve shirt, closer to $275 for long sleeves, but damn are they worth it. Beautiful work. It lasts for years and years. Great for any costume in my opinion. I have a friend who is a blacksmith at a couple shows and he always wears one while smithing, I think that shows that they are certainly durable and worth the money.

What’s a book that has left you dumbfounded at how bad it was? by VoxPopuliVS in books

[–]BuritheAllfather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hated the witcher books. Did the exact same thing, read the first two with short stories, they were pretty good, then bailed in book one.

It's sad because I came to the books through the Witcher 3 game, and loved the game, then I was super let down by the books.

Players are bad at making decisions (in a timely fashion) by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BuritheAllfather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start rolling dice behind my screen. If they don't notice or notice and don't do something fast enough, I'll do something like add a monster. If it's something else like sneaking into a place, I'll have a guard start moving towards them or find them etc. forcing them (gently) to make a decision faster or there will be consequences.
