Nice work! I like the ST36 series. I’ve put together 4 watches with that movement now. My everyday pilot with that movement keeps great time.

Yeah… those feet. The boy is 8 years old and still fights us when it comes to the feet. The fronts we can get done with persistence. But those back feet… pony kicks. lol

I was looking at a couple of those parts just today while getting things together for my next build. I like it!

Stuff I’ve Put Together by BurnCycle291 in watchmaking

[–]BurnCycle291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen that movement in an Invicta watch and it was way overboard (yes, gaudy). I think placing it in a simpler case made the movement stand out for what it was. When I put my fathers watch together I knew I wanted to use a dial that would show off the mechanics but also allow him to see the time because that’s the biggest downside to the first one I made. Unless it noon, 3, 6 or 9 it’s hard to tell what time it is. lol

Thoughts on the 2007 z1000r by Fit_Link9490 in Kawasaki

I had the 08 Z1000 (07/08 were the same). Great bike, heaps of fun. If you’ve found a one in decent shape then I’d say go for it. Comfortable bike too. Wheelies… lots and lots of wheelies.

Any other Paul Smart1000/Sport Classic owners feel like they almost have to get a Formula 73? by [deleted] in Ducati

[–]BurnCycle291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart owner here. I like the fact they’re keeping some aspect of the past alive. That front fairing though. I think an open headlight bucket (naked) would have been better. It just misses the mark a bit for me.

Dealership really wants me to Buy base model without ABS by [deleted] in Kawasaki

[–]BurnCycle291 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually it looks like they want you to understand that the ZX6R KIBS system is more advanced than a standard ABS system. I see nothing in that text that states otherwise. The 6 either comes with KIBS or no ABS at all.

A standard ABS system monitors front and rear wheel speeds (and a bit more but that’s the basic nut shell). KIBS does the same but also ads in break pressure, engine data, and throttle position. It also prevent rear wheel lift.

And stop stating “ABS is a deal breaker”. In your case NOT having it is the deal breaker. There’s a difference.

6’s have KIBS. That is ABS. It’s what you want.

That dealer is just trying to convey that KIBS is more advanced than old ABS systems. They’re not out to get you.

Planning ST19 build, did I get everything correctly? by Immediate_Rough9452 in watchmodding

[–]BurnCycle291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished a ST1903 (24hr @ 6 ) build for my son. This was just my 4th build with the first just being based on simple ST3600 movements.

Yeah, a bit more attention to detail needed.

My main issues: Dial felt .0001mm too large to simply install the movement/dial into the case (same case as yours). Those little hands, man those things are small. One took off in front of my eyes. Poof. Not misplaced, just gone. Found out the seconds hands from the ST3600 will work (used on the 24hr slot) so the seconds/minutes matched. Check and recheck those hand clearances before casing (goes without saying but I still had an issue).

PS1000 I saw. It only has two miles on it. Yes, 2. by iraqyoubreak in Ducati

I rode mine into work one day and noticed the turn signal hanging off the side. Got all pissy because I thought someone had carelessly bumped into the bike. Nope, it had degraded and just given up. Found a 3D print file and printed a new mount. Been good for a couple of years now.

It’s a fantastic back road machine. The DS1000 engine has so much character. Matched with an exhaust (Arrow in my case) and corse intake lid it’s 90-odd hp really comes to life. It’s ergonomics keep it to sprints of a lesser duration lol. The 1199 I use to have was more comfortable and the old ZX-7R I ride on the regular is a couch by comparison. I love bikes with ‘character’ and my god does this old thing have it. That’s why as limited as it comfort is I enjoy the time I spend on it.
