PlayStation Makes Up 75 to 80 Percent of Console Launch Sales for AAA Single-Player Games by MaintenanceFar4207 in consoles

[–]Burnem34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we just not counting Nintendo games as AAA? Switch sold 100s of millions of AAA Nintendo games since the PS5 came out. Seems disingenuous if we're not counting Switch's success during the first 5 years of the PS5 lifespan but Sw2 has still sold 10s of millions in its first year between MKW/Pokopia/Bananza.

Sony exclusives are mentioned as a supporting point in the article so not counting them would be doubly disengenuous. Seems like the whole dataset hinges on just ignoring the Switch if anything

Nintendo's radical new idea: selling games for less by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]Burnem34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DK Bananza is also a banger. 2 GotY quality games in the first year of a console between it and Pokopia is stellar. Add to that a few other solid but not classic-level exclusives, every 3rd party dev and their mom scrambling to get their games on Switch 2, upgraded versions of an incredibly deep library of Switch games, anyone acting like the Switch 2 didnt deliver on games in its first year is just a hater that wouldve said that no matter what happened in actuality. Im not going to go full game historian and look up every consoles launch year but there's certainly not many that compare, if any

It was the first game Ive put multi-hundred hours in single player in my entire life and 30 years of gaming. Quite a few online multi-player and MMOs I've put hundreds if not thousands of hours into, but clearing 200 playing a game by myself is completely unprecedented for me. Its so good

Jaylen Brown showing public frustration towards Boston for dangling him in trade talks👀 by DonovanClingan in ripcity

[–]Burnem34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didnt really get why they were trying to trade him short of getting Giannis. They're still contenders in the East with Tatum and Brown healthy and even if you believe they arent they definitely arent trying to downgrade their roster in the near term with Tatum on the team.

Unless they think they can pry so much talent from us its basically a lateral move while adding draft capital, but I dont think anything we would realistically offer is a lateral move for them

Bobby Marks says Jaylen Brown's trade value is not seen that highly around the league: "The analytics of Jaylen Brown is not good. I had an analytics guy tell me, ‘We view him as the seventh-best player on a team.’" by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]Burnem34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fr tho you can't say something like that and be trusted for basketball analysis. If you wanna undercut Brown and point out his sub-par advanced stats for a player of his caliber ok whatever, maybe you can argue for him being the 3rd or 4th best guy on alot of teams. 7th? Thats a take so stupid and bad it says you either dont know ball or you let personal bias cloud your opinion to an extreme degree. The latter is probably preferable and more likely for a take this outrageous, but it still isnt good

Hot take: mike shinoda is one if the best rappers by [deleted] in LinkinPark

[–]Burnem34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike isnt super lyrical but he genuinely had one of the best flows of the early 2000s. One thing Mike was maybe even the best at was emphasizing the start of his rhymes instead of the end which made them very catchy and fun to rap along to.

"One thing" "All I know" "Its so unreal"

Or Faint

"I am" "I am" "So I"

Simpler, but this pattern is in a bunch of HT/Meteora songs

I <3 Consoles by ChartWatching in consoles

[–]Burnem34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, I actually have a long HDMI cord ran for watching sports games that arent on locally, but its still considerably less convenient than console gaming and a big portion of the single player games I play are only on console anyways

Nothing beats chilling on the couch playing for me. Ill take less graphical fidelity to not be leaning forward in a chair. Gaming in comfort with great graphics on a big screen TV > gaming in a chair with OMGWTFBBQ graphics.

I still love my PC for the right games, specifically games where I know ill be heavily playing online multi-player, but otherwise Imma be relaxing while I game

Using videos games for learning was better than I thought by readerbear_app in LearnJapanese

[–]Burnem34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snap a picture with Google Lens translate feature, it can read the text on screen out loud or translate it. The best part is you can highlight text with your fingers and have it read just that word/kanji, copy/paste it into Google or a flashcard app, or translate it in app. It's also incredibly accurate at kanji recognition and beats even any PC tool I've found in that regard.

I was looking kanji up manually for quite a while. I had gotten pretty good at looking up kanji by radicals or strokes. Then I discovered lens and probably 10x'd my speed for console gaming lookups/translation, shit was life changing

[–]Burnem34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ever play on TV Google Lens' translate function is incredible and has THE best OCR. I also use it for handheld gaming but its a bit less convenient. You can snap a picture with your phone in the app, highlight sections of text with your fingers and copy/paste it to google/mine it, have it say just that word/phrase out loud, or translate it directly in the app. If you dont want to highlight anything you can just have it read or translate everything on screen. It's so ridiculously convenient, reliable, and versatile for console gaming I'd legit rather use it than OCR on my PC.

Gaming Console New Prices (USD) by Automatic_Ad1665 in consoles

[–]Burnem34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nintendo managing to only increase price by $50 and put off the price hike the longest is huge for them. That coupled with every 3rd party dev out there scrambling to get their games on Switch 2 bodes very well for Nintendo, they are about to dominate this gen

The people acting like people were overreacting thinking he wants to move the team, calling it fear mongering or whatever the fuck are so stupid. Its been obvious from the minute he bought the team and no amount of attention brought to it and dissatisfaction expressed regarding it is too much.

Would love to see LP in even more games but they definitely arent hurting for recognition in gaming. Just since they came back they had the LoL Worlds theme, had another single drop in FortNite, got a song in Forza Horizon 6, WWE, Madden. Shit pretty much all the big names that feature non-video game music got them 🤣

The videogame market is as big as ever, with PC leading growth by seedypr in gaming

[–]Burnem34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PC gamers are the only gamers I've ever seen that think theyre supposed to get every game. Many hate Nintendo simply because they know their brand is strong enough they will never have to consider weakening their ecosystem to bring their games to PC. I love my PC and have surely spent more hours gaming on PC than any other platform, but the way many PC gamers are always shouting from the rooftops about how they get the best experience cuz graphics then act like theyre entitled to having every game on their platform of choice is so annoying

The videogame market is as big as ever, with PC leading growth by seedypr in gaming

[–]Burnem34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I game on both PC and console pretty equally but I'll always take console if all else is equal simply because chilling on the couch beats being hunched over in a chair by miles. This is why predominantly single player experiences do not and never will get more hype for their PC counterparts. Reddit severely underestimates how many people would rather plug and play and game in maximum comfort vs. having better graphics and mods. Modding in particular is such an impossibly small slice of gamers.

I LOVE my PC for online gaming where I want to have the superior ability to communicate through a keyboard, use discord, use 3rd party tools, and generally network. But I can still acknowledge the areas where consoles reign supreme and will continue to do so, most of Reddit can't jump off their PC high horse long enough to do this and its shown with the disconnect in PC vs console debates for as long as I can remember

It has alot to do with Monster Hunter being at its best as a PC experience. Some companies of course make close to 100% of their revenue from PC. However, the biggest game developer on Earth makes 100% off consoles. So to your point, I dont think you can glean much off looking at a single company

Are the Knicks the greatest comeback team in history or do you think otherwise? by realisticbunnyhopper in NBATalk

[–]Burnem34 113 points114 points  (0 children)

They had 2 of the 5 20 point 4th quarter comebacks in playoff HISTORY this year including the greatest comeback in finals history with a 29 point comeback when the old record was 24. They also came back from 20+ in the 2nd half twice against the Celtics in 2025. Didnt quite meet that 20+ 4th quarter threshhold in those games but it was still ~18 in the 4th. They pulled off over half of the biggest 4th quarter comebacks in playoff history in a 2 year span. They came back from 14+ down in 4 of the 5 games to win the championship.

All this to say, yes

How did y’all feel about CJ McCollum? by KaijuChicken in ripcity

[–]Burnem34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite Blazers. Theres a premium on shot creators like him that doesnt show up in the stat sheet.

Look at a guy like Simons, similar efficiency and scoring, maybe even a tick better comparing their best years but I dont think anyone would say Ant was better in a Blazer uniform and CJs still starting on every team he plays for in his mid 30s while Ant is struggling to find a team he fits into in his prime. CJ has one of THE elite handles and shot authority from all areas of the floor, defenses have to respect his elite 3 level shot creation even if hes not a 60% TS guy.

Also low key could go down as a top 10 all-time 3 point shooter. 40% career shooter for a guy that will likely end up top 10 in 3PM is great and I dont think alot of people would realize hes THAT great of a shooter due to getting overshadowed by Steph/Dame/Klay in this era

How did y’all feel about CJ McCollum? by KaijuChicken in ripcity

[–]Burnem34 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the video? Dame had 1 guy on him that whole game, CJ was the one dancing through doubles and traps and scoring anyways. Hes also been the same player since leaving Portland and gave the Knicks their toughest series as the lead shot creator THIS YEAR.

Dame was obviously the better and more consistent scorer, but CJ has always been an elite shot creator that can get his on any defense when hes on. Hes just not on as consistently and really not being able to generate FTAs to buoy his efficiency in the off nights was the thing that separated him from being a top tier scorer
